BACKGROUND
Beradus Valarn, Meridian King. What is there to say? A nobleman from a line that can trace its lineage back to the earliest petty kings to slowly trudge their way across Syndesia staking their claims amongst the monsters and the mountains and the seas.
By any metric, a man who should be seen as merely the next king - the next in what will always be a line of rulers to watch over and pity the common person. What else is there to say about such a man?
In Beradus Valarn, rightful King of Meridian, overseer and warden of the city of Zenith, alongside best friend and right hand, Alexian Cale, there is hope. In a world that is fraught with danger, with rogue and bandit, monster and beast alike, in Beradus is a compassion sorely lacking in the hearts of most rulers, and an ambition that serves to light the fire of progress in this fractured land.
Or so that's what they tell me. I am many things, a king being one of them. Will I be able to live up to the expectations I have set for myself, that I have set for my kingdom? I do not know. I wish to grow this nation, and grow the people. Protect the merchants, encourage the niches to get their fill, and am prepared to fight to do so. Will I succeed? Only the gods themselves have the answer. I only hope that those of similar mind are able to find refuge in our home for as long as they wish to stay. If they decide to leave, then I only hope they take some of the spirit of what we are trying to build with them and create a better future for us all.
I pray that I have the strength to see this through.
