Hey everyone, Duncan here to answer a few top of mind questions directly from the community. Remember if you have a question you do not feel has been answered do post in our discord, reddit or email us.
Target Audience & Community Engagement
- How you define the target audience for the new FO?Our ideal players are:
- Sandbox RPG MMO Enthusiasts – Those who love freedom, persistence, and player-driven economies, while exploring the world through building, crafting, and trade.
- Action Combat Fans – Players who enjoy combat with movement, skill-based abilities and precision shots.
- Competitive Guild & PvP Players – Large and small guilds looking for structured, meaningful PvP, where territory control bring benefits.
- How you’d describe the representative player of the new FO?
- Someone who is wanting to have more MMO than traditional Action RPGs, who also enjoy theory crafting builds and enjoy social aspects of older mmorpgs.
- Once 1 and 2 are known how can we the community who have been following for so long be apart of the major updates? Will you send surveys? Try to capture back the old player base? When should we reach out to old guildmates, old friends etc and give the updates (question 1 and 2) another try?
- We will be doing all the above:
- Surveys for feedback
- Public Development Milestones
- Reengagement in old player base
- Reach out to friends when public testing starts
Marketing & Launch Strategy
Similar to question one, when should we expect a major Advertisement push? Will this be a rebranding as well?
- We will begin advertising after we begin public testing of these changes.
Character
Can we keep our character names we have now?
- The players with name reservation will be able to pre-choose their names before re-launch. Everyone else will need to choose their name at launch.
Cosmetics & Monetization
- Will the previewed Kickstarter armors also be available in the cosmetic shop?
- After discussing with other backers many have been ok with this idea to help fund the new development, however the Sigils will make the armor custom for the Kickstarters will only be available to the Kickstarters.
- Will the system of exchanging tokens for currency (Dynamight -> gold) continue to exist?
- Monetization is still being discussed
- Will the skins purchased from the skin store be automatically linked to the character?
- Linked to the account
- Are you thinking of implementing a system where the player receives the skin as an item that can be exchanged if it is not activated and when activated it is permanently linked to the account that activated it? So that older users can store future collector skins and exchange them with other players in the future, as already exists in Albion Online?
- No this ends up bringing real money into the in-game economy
Core Systems & Gameplay Design
- Will the item repair system receive changes?
- Yes
- How does the team consider the ingame results of the death/kd/purple health system? Is it something that passed the test or there are talks whether to confirm it or not?
- If this is referring to the reduced health after death or knockdown, we have not discussed this detail yet.
Crafting & Economy
- One of the historical issues of grind-based crafting is that it is always more convenient for a group to have a single person craft everything. This has always been seen as a flaw of the current Fractured design too. Will there be something to prevent it this time?
- Crafting is being revamped into a “profession” like system but if groups decide to focus resources to one person I dont believe we will design around that but I will take this to the team and discuss more.
