I wish they would keep Foundation until the game releases.

With only 24k users with a TF1 or higher rank on the forums (no idea how many copies/packs/pledges are sold) I think this game deservesd a lot more exposure, where the foundation helps with several of its quest (sharing news, recruiting friends, ambassador drawing) . So it would make sence to keep it, at least until we hit beta or even longer as long as it has its purpose.

@Farlander said in People who buy a founders pack today get more than yesterday:

Didn't I read during the last alpha that players were finding items that increased stats? I thought I saw someone posted an increase in the range of 4-6. When stats cap at 18 (I believe) 6 would be a significant increase. I haven't seen how bonuses scale but I would think someone with all stats at 18 from items would do alot better than someone right out of the gate. I just don't see how the game is going to equalize a player that has capped all their knowledge and gear and still have a player newly created able to beat them. If that is possible I don't see how the game is going to hold interest for players who want to see improvements in their characters. You will basically never improve if the achievements are so small to not matter from your initial character creation.

It was one of the cloth armour you could make yourself. IIRC it took me only 1-2 hours before I was able to make them. Stat increase was on INT (caster).

Developers have stated earlier that the max increase you can get will be +5 at live, which is indeed significant in relation to max start of 18 (for humans, demon and beastling have higher/lower stat at start depending on subclass), but getting it in the first 2 hours of gameplay makes it very easy accesible and counts as right out of the gate to me πŸ™‚

@Xzait said in When will shop items become available ?:

@Jetah you missed the whole point of my argument. there are players out there that see it as a 'money is no object' scenario. people WILL buy the stuff in the store, regardless of players that want to get all their in game money back just coz for no real reason at all besides being stingey. The items WILL get tested. The devs WILL get feedback. Doesn't matter if they have a dynamite gold refund in place or not. They shouldn't have to do a refund thing. People should only buy what they think they will want.

First phase of testing confirmed, all items purchased and visible in history, eagerly wating for phase 2: alphatest 2 😈

What could make this exclusive and valuable to me, assuming you are using sprints, are small updates on those, what are you guys working on (edit your minutes, if you can or will not share all of it, can be part of an NDA). Maybe small behind the scene video's (nothing fancy).

I agree that this should not take your focus from the real development, but some raw content from time to time would be much appreciated.

This is most likely the reason why they have not done it yet. (they know what you guys want)
Some things they simply can't show despite everyone agreeing to an NDA.

You can't expect a random group of people to do what you want them to, where the only thing you know about them is the money they payed for your product they have interest in. Especially when your asking them not to talk or share information about the one thing you are aware they have an interest in enough to pay lots of money for. Unless there is a clear & obvious risk for the random group of people to share information, why wouldn't they happily share such information.

There is however a clear & obvious risk for the developers if the wrong information does get shared.
Such as information getting shared before the development team has agreed on what it is internally.

They can ofcourse decide what to share and what not (I was only using a few examples), but if its only information that they can/will share without the use of an NDA, then it might as well be available for everyone in public.

I received an invitation to test another game a couple of day ago, but only if I was willing to sign an NDA. Which seems less more common these days as developers want maximum exposure even in alpha stage.

I don't support this game for the vip lounge, any information would be welcome to be honest. I will still sleep like a lamb if it will remain sparse in this phase of development ☺

    • Effect from Taming on mainly PvP

This might not even been worked out by development, but I was wondering how taming will effect PvP.

      1. Besides open world PvP, where I expect tamed animals to be availalble, I was wondering if you can have them with you during city raids and/or in arena-like PvP (if that's even becomming a thing in Fractured, not sure)

      2. Can they travel with you to other planets, or will it be too stressfull for them πŸ™‚

      3. On a PvE aspect, will they be able to go with you into a (instanced) dungeon ? Making a hunter like character should have a pet IMHO.

      • I personally hope, they can stay with you all the time, as that will make it possible to build around that basic source of damage.
      1. Will a tamed beast keep his original stats and "spells" or will they become equalised and for example every spider get a predetermined spell set, so the difference will only be visual.
      • I really like the idea of harder to tame pets with better stats/spells, however that might effect balance in PvP too much, also depending on other limitations that come with having tamed pets with you (to prevent that a build with pets become a meta)
      1. And as I understand the maximum amount of pets is determined by the Charisma you have. Will this mean a max of (for example) 3-5 pets (Diablo 2 Druid) or 20+ like in a Diablo 2 Summoner.
      • To many pets per character, especially in raids and dungeons might become an issue (lag and/or limitations on graphic cards)) So I will set for a max of 3 pets πŸ™‚

If this information is not available yet, What are your thoughts/expectations on this ?

Hello! We plan to create a sort of items rotation for the store; new pet/building design/decorations/..etc will slowly replace the older ones, so, we can say that almost all the things that you can find in the store are "exclusive". πŸ™‚

Lovely, I like to remodel my decoration from time to time, and dislike running around with the same pet over and over again, not to mention armour (skins).

I would not have it any other way (as long as the pledge and foundation keep there "unique" status and will not be found in the shop later on)

In general people will want items that make them look better more unique then their neighbours, if its not the bigger car on the driveway, its the bling of the furniture (chests).

I am all up for it ! As long as some human or demon is not able to steal it 😍

Making the assumption here that you will not be able to travel to other planets on day one, and need some serious time for preparation/learning (at least for the first time to be able to do so) you could also make learning the language part of that process.

As far as language barriers between people in a guild: exclude guild chat and/or how many people who play together these days on a regular basis without the use of TS or Discord?

    • RE: Dang the roadmap gets me all giddy

@Tuoni said in Dang the roadmap gets me all giddy:

I doubt that players can run towns by themselfs. It can easily be behind timewall what it comes for building and maintenance even there won't be other restrictions. Moreover, you can not progress from hamlet state for town without having several players settled on same town area.

"When a town area has been cleared of the creatures infesting it, any player can place the foundations of a house in one of the few dedicated lots of land in the area. Once at least one house has been fully built, a hamlet – and a citizen! – are born. A hamlet has no rulers and no rules. As we’ve just said, anyone who can settle on a planet can add his own house to a hamlet on that planet. No specialized structured can be built in it – only residential buildings. If all the citizens of a hamlet leave the settlement or let their homes decay, the area becomes a haunted place once again. If, on the opposite, a hamlet grows large enough, any citizen can present himself as a candidate for the role of Governor. Once the elections take place and a winner emerges, the hamlet can finally transition to a full-fledged town."

However, the key point is this: "hamlet grows large enough"

How much is large enough..? πŸ€”

It was already made clear that you can only have 1 plot per planet per account, so building and maintaining a town by yourself is therefore not possible (unless you will buy so many copies of the game that you can build enough to have one town of your own, but that just plain nuts)

    • RE: Game availability once Beta Starts??

Aside from hosting, you will also need people who can give support en maintain the game/servers.

24/7 During Beta would be nice, but considering the smaller developer we are dealing with, I rather have them spend time and money on content and finishing the game, then giving us full access during that period.

      Hello,
After checking the new shop i tought a bit of what AoC did with their shop, or making some unique season items during the alpha phases of the game. Certainly it will enforce more fundings because people like unique irripetible items but creating too much exclusive might be a double-edged weapon for who come later and miss the "exclusive" train.

So now that new cosmetics are out, what are the plans for Fractured: leave them available over the years or make them uniques wave after wave?

Excellent question, as I am already out of my comfort zone as a genuent packrat by not being able to get the items from the highest kickstarter pack (My choice), but I rather have no extra sessions with my therapist if I am gonna miss on more goodies πŸ˜‡

Why do you think beast towns should be more spread out?

"Tenoch climbed down from the colossal Watcher tree with one long, final jump." (from the feature spotlight)

When I think of Beastmen, I see a tribe, integrating with nature as much as possible, smaller villages (buildings between te trees and/or in trees or in caves/mountains. In contrast with a more clustered, lineair way of building a town by humans for example.

Buildings in trees or in mountains might not be realistic to expect, but it is something that fit my view on the beastmen up to now. Very excited to see how alpha 2 will pan out in this aspect.

@Jairone said in Areas on map:

Yeah, having seen what people do with the ability to build everywhere there simply must be some limits. Plots works, although I don't consider it ideal. My own thoughts on preventing such issues was a road/path network with limited area for each person/settlement to select, but that does take a little more work. On the other hand, it offers a system that could be used to make town layouts with such paths for governing... which would help avoid the towns having a giant maze of buildings at odd angles and places.

To clarify, the road/path network would not purely be limited to a road/path, but rather be a non-build/alter area. So it is a little more flexible, such that a game might use it on a starting town and/or special locations to preclude unwelcome adjustments, then have several roads leading out all splitting down to smaller paths that remain open to all.

For the plots outside the city, the current systems is a simple, but effective method IMHO. Very curious how the town layout will be in next tests. And also if there will be a difference between beast towns (which I imangine would be more spread out), then a human town for example.

if you really want to understand the title, then watch SAO again having note of what i have said.
Remember perspective has multiple shapes, maybe you are looking at the wrong one.

That's the whole point: nothing you have said or what the video is about, I can connect to the design of Fractured. If I really miss something I would really appriciate clearification.

To be blunt: I frankly miss the purpose of this thread if you can or will not give a straight answer to a polite question. If I would be up for riddles I would go to a different website.

Possibly it each race will speak a different language and you will have to learn the language to speak to other races

There is not much-known lore-wise (which is an aspect I miss or what we will have to create for ourselves), all 3 races were once part of 1 world Elysium. It would depend on how long ago The Fracture would have happened. If the language would differ that much and if they had the need for 3 different languages at the time of being one world.
