    • RE: Anti-Hack/Cheat/Bot

      The more you can do with "ingame" earned money, the more cheating and bots you will see. Create a closed economy where it is not possible to transfer ingame money between characters will cut down on that.

      Create an old school economy where you have to trade goods. 4 eggs for 1 wolf hide or something πŸ™‚

      @Razvan said in Enough attackers / defenders during eclipses:

      Anyway, I'm not so much concerned about invasions - if there are too many demons, they will probably fight each other as well instead of all allying and fighting human. The thing I'm most concerned about is the economy - on the demon planet things will be expensive since it's full loot PVP (and they will probably add a trash-system to help crafters), while on the furries planet things will eventually become dirt cheap. Even if items will somehow be lost in the furries planet (items getting destroyed once they lose durability or whatever system), the mats will still be very cheap because it's safe to gather them.

      For "BiS" gear (if there ever will be something like that, let's say more "specific" gear made for "specific" circumstances/fights) I still expect that you will need mats from all 3 planets. So if I stay with my beast-man on Arboreus. I need someone else to gather those mats for me, which should make it also a more rare/expensive material.

      @Jetah

      Now that different kind of skills/spells are bound to certain weapons/unarmed, I would like the idea if that makes it possible to use a "cosmetic" staff after all as a caster

      I can only imagine (I am no fan op PvP) that PvP-ers might not like it as there is no prediction of the spells/skills the opponent has.

      @Gothix said in NPC (Node Specific Towns):

      And if NPCs aren't really doing anything then what's the point of having them.

      Eye candy, looking at your fellow Demons all day can become (literally) hell, put some blonde humans in a kind of settler town.

      On a serious note, I have always thought that NPC's have a function of bringing a town to live, they are doing things, making noise, maybe a town crier, artists. While most players just run around (if they are even in towns for a longer period). A town/settlement without NPC's can become dead quickly, especially in certain areas or play hours over the day.

      How is healing going to work in pvp vs pve? Will there be alot of different cleansing spells, buffs, etc...

      There won't be any differences between PvP and PvE. We'd like to create a balanced system giving you cooldowns and mana costs that won't allow to spam healings. For example, there will be "consumable spells" that will use your HP as a cost πŸ™‚

    • RE: Attacks speeds depending on armor ?

      @Jetah said in Attacks speeds depending on armor ?:

      @asspirin
      i was thinking more retribution (thus damage) paladins.
      the DK, at least in WoW, that i'm thinking of is the frost spec which uses frost spells along side melee attacks. think of it as frost enchanced melee weapons. but there's undead which uses diseases along a rez'd ghoul and melee to fight. the blood spec is the tank spec which siphons HP during an attack, not really a melee-mage in the sense here but more vampire/leech which takes spike damage but can self heal.

      As we have no classes in Fractured, it is not possible to make class-specific skills, however as Znirf stated before spell will be bound to certain kind of weapons or armour.

      Which will also make it possible that a plate user can use certain skills, but not all. It just like a WoW Paladin will not be able to be a WoW Mage.

      Makes perfect sense to me.

      Just like the store being under construction, I expect the article to become online after the weekend,

      Most likely someone added the quest already, but the article was not ready before the weekend started.

      Maybe we get lucky and they are doing overtime, and we get it today after all !

    • RE: Weight system?

      @asspirin Yes, you can.

      Both Strength and Constitution add to your Carry Weight. When you have them both at a minimum of 6, you will be able to carry 62KG (basic mage armour weight 1,2kg, no weapon needed) Constitution at 10 will add another 8 KG, which choice you normally will make to give you an acceptable life pool.

      If you plan to go melee, you would normally wear leather armour, which comes at 12KG at the start (including weapon), But with STR and CON at 18 (which would make perfect sense for melee) you would be able to carry a max of 146KG

      I can understand requesting it for the initial installation, but not beyond that.

      You can change your security settings to prevent that, but I won't recommend that. This is just the alpha version of the launcher, accept it for now πŸ™‚

    • RE: Looting? Pickpocketing? Or Lock picking & Burglary

      @humerus said in Looting? Pickpocketing? Or Lock picking & Burglary:

      @Peter No, it's not that terrifying really. The ability to loot makes the economy much more complex and interesting: this implies that moving the goods from one city to another has a risk factor involved which means that there wouldn't be a global price tag for most items, this allows for much more indepth political experience for the guilds and another way to make some quick cash for the individual player. If implemented correctly in such a game this mechanic can really spice things up and lighten up the social aspect of the mmo.

      Although that is true, it also makes it far less desirable to optimize (expensive) gear, what is bad for those interested in crafting etc, as the market for that kind of items will be small due to the fact that you can easily lose it to some pack of gankers. I have never been a fan of full loot PvP. As you can lose a lot of your game time gathering. But it is how the game is designed, so I will deal with it/work around it.

    • RE: Suggestion: Currency names

      @Farlander said in Suggestion: Currency names:

      @Jetah I think everyone is on the silver standard.

      The silver standard is a monetary system in which the standard economic unit of account is a fixed weight of silver. The silver specie standard was widespread from the fall of the Byzantine Empire until the 19th century.

      That would fit however more to the timeframe of the game then the gold standard if you could compare it to human timelines and history.
