    • RE: Rhykker Mention of "Pay for Convenience"

Is "pay to not play the game" not more suitable for horizontal progression?

A lot of MMORPG gives you the possibility (later on) to catch up by the newest contest by a level boost. I have never considered that P2W. Besides that, I have not that many hours to spend on gaming as the younger generation for example, so if there will be possibilities to use that sort of conveniences to keep on par over time with friends and/or guildmates.

I can understand that having services which can give you advantages at the start of the life cycle is not smart. But later on I do hope there are possibilities, if not for me, then at least stuff that can encourage new players to jump in the game.

Given that the bigger packs include multiple character slots, I'd guess you can set down the ones you want in such a case. I'd like to see them have an option to upgrade houses, with some of the resources just starting filled in on the upgrade in such a case. (AKA, select the bigger construction to upgrade to, and some of the first parts are filled in from 'recycled' materials.)

Story wise, from a development of your character perspective, I hope we will get the ability to create a small tent which you can use during your travels / exploring until you find an area or town where you want to build your estate (in any seize)

    • RE: Rhykker Mention of "Pay for Convenience"

My memory could be wrong, but I cannot remember this kind of discussions where games had a b2p model combined with a monthly fee. Every player was contributing the same amount to the developers of the game. So there was a core flow of money to make the development of a game worthwhile.

Now some people who spend a lot more money make it possible that other people spend a very basic amount in a pure b2p model (or sometimes even spend nothing at all). Is this unfair as those people who spend the money have an advantage to a certain degree? For a game to survive players will need to contribute a certain amount on average. Challenge for a developer is how to get that done. But still, my question is. Why would I spend money if it gives me nothing extra towards people who don't?

@Logain said in Rhykker Mention of "Pay for Convenience":

I am not talking about the 10% knowledge gain benefit, but about any 'time saving', because saving time ALWAYS means that you can gather more resources faster than somebody who doesn't have the 'time saving benefit'. Which means you can send more players back onto the battlefield fully equipped. Which means you have a higher number of players. Which (as you agreed on) is a determining factor on winning a guild versus guild conflict.

      • Is my lifetime free Carpenter contract now considered P2W because I have more time to gather resources?
      • Is my lifetime VIP membership considered P2W? We don't even know what it will give us, but most likely it will save me some time I can spend on gathering resources
      • Is my set of crafting stations considered P2W because that will save me some time I can spend on gathering resources?
      • Is my mule mount plus wagon considered P2W because I can build faster that way and have more time left to gather resources?

@Logain said in Rhykker Mention of "Pay for Convenience":

Have you ever considered that it's not about people being opposed to spending some money, but about people that don't like continuously having to spend ridiculous amounts of money to be on par with their opponents? Remember we are talking about people spending tens of thousands of dollars on a game.
I'd like to be a competitive player, but keep reasonable money spent on a game ratio.

This I can totally agree on, as it is the responsibility of the developer to not make this kind of "whaling" even possible or worthwhile for a player.

But in general, I am thankful to all the people who already spend thousands of money yet on a Kickstarter package, which made it possible to get the stretch goals πŸ™‚

I totally agree with you on the upgrade function. Or at least the option to brake down your current building and re-use some of the materials. Normally you would expand your house by building expansions/extra rooms or another floor on top of it. Very curious how the bigger blueprints will pan out in the comming tests.

    • RE: Future armor ideas

I have no clear idea what it should be, but I am hoping it will not be:

      • Futuristic (star wars stormtroopers for example)
      • Unrealistic (see also this article)

And it would be really nice if (in time) you would be able to transfer your favourite template onto other armour

Was hoping I could use the palace on one planet, the villa on another, and so on... πŸ™‚

You can, as long as you have 3 races. Considering the time you can stay on another planet, there is no logic behind having a house there for such a short time, let alone have the time to gather the mats and build one.

Also, I hope that the blueprints will have a different effect on each planet. Meaning that a human cottage/house might look different from a Beastman's or a Demon's.

And also if there will be a difference between beast towns (which I imangine would be more spread out), then a human town for example.

Why do you think beast towns should be more spread out?

"Tenoch climbed down from the colossal Watcher tree with one long, final jump." (from the feature spotlight)

When I think of Beastmen, I see a tribe, integrating with nature as much as possible, smaller villages (buildings between te trees and/or in trees or in caves/mountains. In contrast with a more clustered, lineair way of building a town by humans for example.

Buildings in trees or in mountains might not be realistic to expect, but it is something that fit my view on the beastmen up to now. Very excited to see how alpha 2 will pan out in this aspect.

    • RE: point placement suggestions?

@kellewic Hard to say, I didn't do much PvP, for PvE I didn't feel it was hindering me.

Regarding CC (luck) those black spiders used a web, which was annoying, but as a caster, I didn't need to be close to the target. And if he came close I could also use my physical weapon skills. The -12% "save trap" from DEX at 6 was corrected by the +12% from PER at 18. All in all not bad for me.

    • RE: Communication between the worlds

Making the assumption here that you will not be able to travel to other planets on day one, and need some serious time for preparation/learning (at least for the first time to be able to do so) you could also make learning the language part of that process.

As far as language barriers between people in a guild: exclude guild chat and/or how many people who play together these days on a regular basis without the use of TS or Discord?

    • RE: Give us Attribute Resets please

As you will be able (in time) to learn (almost) all skills on 1 character, it would make sense to be able to reset your attributes if you like to play a different type (caster, melee, tanky, healer) further down the line.

If that would mean the ability to reset all the time as often and when you like is something else and is up to the Devs for sure. It might even be a possible revenue model in combination with some free resets fir example,

What could make this exclusive and valuable to me, assuming you are using sprints, are small updates on those, what are you guys working on (edit your minutes, if you can or will not share all of it, can be part of an NDA). Maybe small behind the scene video's (nothing fancy).

I agree that this should not take your focus from the real development, but some raw content from time to time would be much appreciated.

This is most likely the reason why they have not done it yet. (they know what you guys want)
Some things they simply can't show despite everyone agreeing to an NDA.

You can't expect a random group of people to do what you want them to, where the only thing you know about them is the money they payed for your product they have interest in. Especially when your asking them not to talk or share information about the one thing you are aware they have an interest in enough to pay lots of money for. Unless there is a clear & obvious risk for the random group of people to share information, why wouldn't they happily share such information.

There is however a clear & obvious risk for the developers if the wrong information does get shared.
Such as information getting shared before the development team has agreed on what it is internally.

They can ofcourse decide what to share and what not (I was only using a few examples), but if its only information that they can/will share without the use of an NDA, then it might as well be available for everyone in public.

I received an invitation to test another game a couple of day ago, but only if I was willing to sign an NDA. Which seems less more common these days as developers want maximum exposure even in alpha stage.

I don't support this game for the vip lounge, any information would be welcome to be honest. I will still sleep like a lamb if it will remain sparse in this phase of development ☺

@Xzait said in When will shop items become available ?:

@Jetah you missed the whole point of my argument. there are players out there that see it as a 'money is no object' scenario. people WILL buy the stuff in the store, regardless of players that want to get all their in game money back just coz for no real reason at all besides being stingey. The items WILL get tested. The devs WILL get feedback. Doesn't matter if they have a dynamite gold refund in place or not. They shouldn't have to do a refund thing. People should only buy what they think they will want.

First phase of testing confirmed, all items purchased and visible in history, eagerly wating for phase 2: alphatest 2 😈

there really is no discussion on race here. you create one for each or you stick with one or you create a few. we're talking about attributes though. unless DS gives us paid race change you're stuck with it.

Sure you do, as Demons and Beastling can be limited in their meta build with the different caps within the (sub) race

      attribute_caps_table.jpg

So if people don't want to rebuild characters, they also need to give the option to change your (sub) race.

There are 2 thread that I know of, which gives partly an answer to your questions:

      Character Stats and Crafting stats

The skills in Alpha 1 were limited in number and diverted over several schools (caster, melee str, melee dex etc) so in no way representative for testing real damage output (damage balancing was not a thing either as 1 caster spell was outdamaging all other spells/skills. Next test will give us hopefully a lot more skills/spells to test with.

Hi Annatar, welcome to Fractured !

I love the idea, so far I only know of that you can build together on projects, but that would be limited to people you know and/or without such incentives.

Things like this can be a nice addition to the PvE version of "Mercenaries".
