@Meiki That's not correct. Good characters can attack all flagged characters (murderers, thieves) at will. Not sure about unflagged evil characters, perhaps even them.

In the demon world they could but not sure about human unless they have murder or thief flag

As long as our options do not start to include big fluffy pink over sized kittens with sparkling bow ties like in those Korean MMOs. 😓

      but.....

      this isn't a korean/asian mmo though.
i dont mind temporary cosmetics that have a real time duration for stuff like that. IE There's a custom on the human world where pink wards away demons, thus for 24 hours they all wear pink and add covers to the animals to protect them too. This would be OK to have cosmetics that only last for the duration of that event.

I was thinking about custom mounts today more specifically wagons/carrier mounts
And a giant frog that swallows your boxes and spits them out at the destination would be cool, disadvantages food items you want to sell to people can not be eaten as they become slimy, advantages you can ride on the back of the frog and travel the speed of a fast mount instead of a wagon

Will there be NDA in the developer forums?

I would like to see art concepts of idears building monster pets

Have you a dev to purely handle lore and story? Lore snippets would be nice

Sneak peak videos, or coffee break chats.

Day in the life, showing the team the routine when assets they are working on,

Bugsmash videos videoing some bugs you have found and showing a dev solving it or or finding another 10.

Showing asset design videos picking a cool big monster or a fulfilling random high pledge pet/monster request and showing the process of building it

There are a lot of interesting topics in the news page describing the devs, plans for the game,

Show caseing the karma system, how your actions affect people opinion of you, and eventually even change your appearance.

      Race metamorphosis, humans becoming liches
Demons becoming Angel's and beastmen becoming abominations

Player driven economy (all items in game will be crafted)

Player driven political systems, our kings lord, demon overlord beastmen leader, will all be players.

City's will be built and destroyed by the playerbase, unless you are on the beastmen planet (they are peaceful)

Your class is as dynamic as your plays style
You can combine all spell trees at varying degrees of effectiveness depending on your stat allocation. (There are no classes just spell trees)

      @Xzoviac

you do know that the beastkin planet will be invaded by demons, right? they will have forced pvp just not nearly as much as the other 2 planets. there has to be a way for cities to change hands. they'll need some type of pvp system for that.

i wasn't speaking specifically about any planet. i was speaking in general.

the developer already stated the game will be solo friendly and that very little content will need groups for. that means what i stated above.

i promise you the pve group wont keep the game alive. they're pretty finical in that they'll jump games to something else when it releases.

Demon invasions will last less then 30 mins irc, and will be fairly difficult to create/do

As specter said that is not how city's change hands. So you do not need some kind of pvp system for that.

I think when you speak in general you have to consider the game is designed for three groups of diffrent Play styles

Could you post a link or screenshot showing where the devs spoke about solo play, and also specifically said they wouldn't be adding much group content for the PVEers, as your previous statements of fact, as proven by specter, where actually your opinion?

So if PVE players are the only group that "jump servers when other things are released", what are the pvp group doing here?
Shouldn't they still be playing the first pvp mmo they ever tried?

Just to add a little credence to my opinion, I would consider WOW a PVE game, it has pvp sure, it even has Pking servers, but the player pvp consists of max levels sitting in noob zones killing the NPC's and anyone that walks past.

it has a arena and battleground, however its hardly a PVP haven

does wow not have the highest retention of players of any mmo?...

pvp is important no doubt, but PVE will be the life blood of this game....

Cities on Arboreus can't be conquered. I don't know how the devs will deal with the limited city spots on Arboreus if they can't be conquered but they're safe from PvP.

Maybe they will make the upkeep decay faster to help rotate the housing especially for the players not logging in?

i dont think there'll be much coop pve here. maybe a few raid bosses but Prometheus already said the game will be solo friendly which means it'll be boring for many of the groups. unless the mobs scale based on how many attack i dont see groups being needed outside of pvp.

The sole purpose of the beastmen planet can not be the Token PVE planet , where no one groups or has a challenge, if you want to do anything interesting go PVP.

the entire basis of the MMO is that it caters to all 3 types of players

      Full PVPERs
      PVXers
      PVEers

being solo friendly does not mean , you can solo everything in game.
they have to make content for all types of people , or only the full PVPers will stay
and then the game will die

@Jetah I'm a member of a forum that used to have posts every day, sometimes the same questions where asked multiple times and the vets would get mad about it, saying use the search function this has been asked 100 times (they where correct)

Eventually people stopped talking because every answer had been answered and people couldn't be arsed with the snarky use the search button, this forum is dead now it has maybe 1 post a week if that.

There are those for whom the Role Play aspect is as important as any specific encounter, so backstory would be a thing for those ppl. I love RPG, but I'm doubtful that there will be many who stay 'in character' while they play Fractured.

I haven't done the research to grok how a PC that had clawed its way from Demonic to Angelic would differ in 'everyday game chances/experience' from a PC who started out Lawful Good and stayed that way, but maybe someone will unpack that for us...? 🤞

I'll definitely be in character depending on the char I'm on, if im on my mad lich I may react to you differently to when im playing a paladin bear healer, or savage hand to hand demon

I think a simple way to stop zergs, the more people bunched together the more likely a horror will spawn that attacks everyone in its path, killiable but unpredictable jumpy smashy hard to lure, and will fight big clumps of people, will add a bit of chaos to guild vs guild pvp

the point of animals is crafting materials which is the point of most of the NPCs.

in my mind the whole point of the survival and crafting system is for pvp. Having recently started Black Desert Online, I'm starting to see the similarities between Fractured and BDO. If you've played BDO then think of it with a static camera and 3 planets.

beastmen are gonna get bored fast if the only point in killing monsters is for pvping later ....
BDO , monsters drop loot , killing monsters lets you learn about them, the more you kill said monster eventually you learn how much hp it has and hit it harder , you can pickup quests and get knowledge the more you kill certain monsters and earn reputation with certain NPC's In BDO there is even a beastery saying your Rank for killing said monster

So i loved the crafting and building the house I know at lot of people dint like how slow it was, but i love grinding so i thought it was great.

I loved mass killing lores of wolfs, however in the end killing monsters felt mostly pointless

I killed each mob once mass killed mobs i could, built my house, made 5 different stat builds , and tried every spell combination.

I Think monsters not giving XP (i know the point of the game) made the killing feel hollow.
The monsters dont drop items so grinding has no point

my suggestion to improve the feel/reward of grinding mobs.

Have mobs give Knowledge Experience, so the more you kill a monster the more you level up the knowledge of said monster, could even have a mini skill bar for each monster that lets you skill up how much crit dmg loot drops, ability to track the monsters , ability to use the monsters body parts to create poisons healing potions whatever.

Sacrifice system that lets you sacrifice the mob to your chosen god, kill enough and you get to summon a spirit version as a pet, giving players something else to collect

      Titles (Goblin Slayer)
      Chicken kicker
      Spiders bane

kill enough of said mob , and you can craft weapons specifically to hurt that mob more,
Go talk to Xzoviac the -Chicken kicker, he will make you a knife perfect for killing and skinning chickens, giving you more loot and chicken knowledge XP.

I Know this was alpha, and i dont know what the Knowledge system will be like to make combat feel like it has a point past getting resources which is fairly boring no one is gonna grind for hours and hours doing this.
If the game does not have some things to grind when the game is finished we will all run out of content very quickly- on the PVE side

the gods are always watching. i consider Karma a system of the gods.

I think there should be karma and reputation, in that case. Karma being your morality base on the opinions of the gods, and reputation, what the public think of you

A merchant may have a good business on the outside, but fences items for thieves on the side

A bartender may sell information from drunken guards leading to valuable wares.

To other players and npc they have a good reputation as they have not been caught, but karma system may be accumulation of negative points for example

@Gothix said in What challenges should guild alliances face?:

@Roccandil you claimed that evil aligned players are at advantage because they have more options, and less restrictions then good aligned people in their play.

      I'd strongly disagree with that.

      • Lets start with good aligned people being able to effectively play on (and explore) all 3 planets, while evil aligned people can effectively play on only 2 planets (and very restricted on small part of Arboreus, for short time frames).

      • Good aligned people can gain knowledge points from all 3 planets, while evil aligned people can't gain knowledge points from most of Arboreus (it's just not possible).

      • A large number of good guilds will have their guards auto attack evil players on sight, and NPCs refuse to trade them. Only smaller part of evil aligned guilds will give such order against good players to their guards, because they want to attract good aligned people actually coming to their cities, so players can personally have more PvP. (OK, this is just my educated guess, so you can disregard this point, even though I believe it's pretty solid assumption ).

First 2 points are already a huge deal, and disadvantage evil aligned player play options a lot. If you would additionally add good aligned players immune to FF on Syndesia, that would effectively crush evil alignment a LOT.

I also disagree with your premise that good alignment play style should be rewarded by game mechanics, while evil alignment play style should be "punished".

It's not "wrong" to be a person that likes to play evil aligned character. It's just a different playstyle, and not a "worse" one.

You need both alignments healthy populated, or game will surely fail.

Imo the best way to make evil balanced with good is, if you steal and dont get caught you dont suffer a kama loss, if you get caught you do.
Same for murder if you murder someone and no one sees you should get away with it.
Always used to piss me off in elderscrolls I could murder somone 6 miles away and the guards would just know I was being bad lol

Just to let you know, people arguing over FF, it's already been confirmed to be in game, I asked why the beastmen would find parties easier, with random players (reading the first ever allignment post in news)

Specter answers me by saying, because beastmen cant hurt each other (the rules of the planet good cant attack good), they dont need to group to avoid friendly fire. So can quickly group passersby to make random hunting parties.Screenshot_20190730-044850_Discord.jpg
