@Gothix Well, according to charts gnomes are like half human height but you are totally right about their proportions - they´re pretty scary. Like giant toddlers with huge ears
My point was that not all professions are suitable for all races - I can easily imagine bear as warrior, but it sure would be harder for him to use a bow. Would be just as silly as a gnome with mace three times his size.
Thats true, but all races, and species can be all things, so if you want to make a strength based species use Int, you could, it just would not be very efficient.
Sometimes a bear just wants to be a fireball slinging archer

RE: Knowledge System Account Wide
@Razvan said in Knowledge System Account Wide:
If they did this everyone would have a bunch of alts - they would have an efficient pve character and then all sorts of niche characters that are usually very hard to level up (for example single target high mobility ganker). Do you want everyone to have a free efficient ganking character that otherwise would be very hard to level up? I wouldn't.
not sure about the level up thing, everyone is the same strength and you can swap builds as you want as long as you are at a camp fire
having account wide knowledge system wouldn't effect things like that, but it would make getting demon knowledge ,easy if your a beastman visa versa

@Razvan said in Game F2P or P2P:
@Jetah Yep, I hope they think in advance and find a sustainable financial model because dramatically changing it a year after release will probably cause a lot of community backlash. Which would suck because this game looks promising.
i understand the buy to play but realistically games have problems with that unless they're backed by a great publisher or developer. I can see Fractured doing well as a f2p game, but i also hate the ability to create an endless amount of accounts to just troll and be toxic.
I dont mind f2p basic accounts that cant PM pr group or trade until they buy the full version

RE: trading, weapons, furniture, features
@Noebody said in trading, weapons, furniture, features:
Servers are down so figured I would get some more information
Is trading items/inventory implemented yet? If so how?
Are primitive weapons the best weapons at this time?
I wasn't able to move chests or the fireplace in my house. Am i doing something wrong or is that still in the works?
Is there already an FAQ or feature progress list that I could refer to instead of bugging everyone here?
Is there a page where players can see updates on progress and be alerted to any potential server wipes coming?Thanks again and have a good day.
Tradeing is not implemented yet
Yes those are the only weapons atm
You cant move chests after you have placed them but hopefully in the future you can as it's nice to remodel
There is a sticky of everything we know on the forum and read threw the spotlights lots of good info
They generally email with big updates and if they dont at least 1 player will ask them to send a email out so as long as you keep a eye on your emails you will be informed if you dont visit the website or discord

@Jetah said in Give us Attribute Resets please:
(...)having points that are fluid and can change based on how you play the game is best(...)
I agree with you.
My point is that you can never have that though.There are restrictions by race, which are going to be as punishing as a wrong attribute distribution. Like I mentioned, the difference between 21 Strength and 15 Strength (depends on the kind of demon you pick) is just as bad as the difference between 18 Strength and 12 Strength. Hence people are always forced to create a new character, even if you implement a fluid change over time. You'd invest a lot of development time and gain nothing.
@Jetah said in Give us Attribute Resets please:
(...)developer wants to keep the player playing(...)
You just argued against yourself. There is no less expansive content for developers than having people create a second or third character because they were unhappy with their first one.
There is one way you could get a system everyone likes
That is with a god wish system allowing you to get enough rep in your gods affinity to wish to be a diffrent race.
This should be hard to get and would be worth just making a new char.
Hopefully will satisfy the one character something's changed and I dont wanna make a alt group

RE: So that went well, huh?
@Gothix said in So that went well, huh?:
I dont believe the problem is "server not being able to handle 300 people"...
Its unity, and its used for other prodicts as well and it can certainly handle many users.
Problem was something else, some investigation is neededbut it will certainly be found and fixed.
Yeah I agree It could be anything causing the crash packet backlog because of more people whatever it's not server strength so to speak

from what it seems like, DS jumped some bullet points and decided to offer a stress test hoping to get more funding for the game. (guess here nothing with proof).
normally in an alpha you increase the number of participants so that your hardware and software can be looked at as you increase the concurrent connections.
I believe it would have been great to allow some foundation members access for a limited time to increase the 'stress' on the systems.i look forward to seeing what happened, how it's being looked into and how it'll be prevented in the future. GGG (path of exile) developers did the same thing with problems and it works great for the community. Chris has posted about problems within the code and Leagues where he says what went wrong, how it went wrong, how they plan to never have that happen again and the community loves it.
Not being funny but 300 people is not a lot a server should easily handle that, the stress test was the right thing to do as it found a massive issue with the server structure.
The fact ithis bug was found sooner rather the later is a good thing as it could need some core features of the code changing or anything
Ds imo made the right decision for development, and opening up the server to the public was simply a stress test as advertised

I would say the original poster made a decent point regarding "perception". The old saying goes "You only get one chance to make a first impression."
The Discord and Forums have been busier than I can recall and that's a good thing, I hope these little setbacks don't slow the momentum.
And Welcome to all newer type forum peeps!
honestly i only see a stress test this early in development as a means to get money. otherwise it's never a good idea to offer such a thing so early.
So you dont think it was a good idear finding a massive game breaking bug early that could be wrapped in the systems and code and need a load of stuff changing?

RE: Uninspired Confidence
@Zetskey said in Uninspired Confidence:
@Specter Like I said. There's two people now making conflicting claims and I still don't have any confidence in either being correct. Doesn't change the absolute disaster this is. I had to spend time downloading this game cuz at&t is absolute garbage where I am so I couldn't do anything online really while this downloaded. I then couldn't log in cuz they werent 'slowly expanding the amount of players over time', then I had to wait for maintenance for an unknown amount of time with literally no ETA, then I get told that the whole thing is cancelled and only paid for accounts can play at this time, and I am told that the reason for all this will be said 'tomorrow' instead of today. I can't know for sure any of what you say is true, regardless I still don't get the sense that this game is going to go anywhere with how this particular situation was handled. Every response from the dev team to this issue seems to be handled on the spot with no preparation for this kind of possibility.
Specter is a mod his numbers will be correct, I was just guessing at numbers as I can only tell from people i bump in to and who is speaking in chat in game (I am a player) , anyway im off 2 sleep have a good night.

Must be nice being Captain hindsight
It's not captain hindsight it's literally doing this in my own life. I've ran servers with larger groups before and have stress tested servers. It's not "oh hindsight is 2020" its called experience and looking at history where other game devs have failed and succeeded in similar endeavors. But sure, lets just make fun of me. Now i certainly want to join a community where criticism is met with heckling.
lmao cya then

@Zetskey said in Uninspired Confidence:
@Specter Great they should have tried 100 people first before jumping into the deep end with this disaster weekend. That only furthers my point about doing a smaller stress test before this cliff dive.
Must be nice being Captain hindsight
@Specter said in Uninspired Confidence:
@Zetskey They did. There were certainly more than 30-40 players in the alpha tests. Also, as I've said before the server didn't start having issues until the number of players reached 300+.
yeah sorry i was just guessing at numbers.

RE: Uninspired Confidence
@Zetskey said in Uninspired Confidence:
Again, I have 0 problem with them finding a bug. I expected as much anyways. If what you say is true about how the server only had 30-40 people tops then they shouldn't even have had this stress test to begin with. You shouldn't even be having a server stress test for your game until you have a stability with at least 70-100 people. Partly cuz if you offer a 3 day free wekeend you're gonna get atleast 100 additional people. That's ~350% increase in player base on a server you have no idea will be stable or not if your normal is 30 people. That only reinforces my understanding that they were not even close to being ready for this kinda of test.
how do you get more people on the server to test stability with out opening the server up to the public?

RE: Uninspired Confidence
@Zetskey said in Uninspired Confidence:
That's great and all but that's not really my issue. My issue is not "guess we don't get another stress test". It's "it really seems like they weren't even remotely ready to begin with" and got a bunch of sign ups under their belt that they can now use to gain investments or make claims with. Again, whether thats their intention or not I do not know for sure but this is how it seems to me.
They already have investors, and enough money to fund the game.
The test just failed , thats the point in tests, if all tests where 100% successful there would be no need for tests, the game is in alpha development atm, and this is the first ever time more then 30-40 people have been on the server at the same time.
they found a server killing bug, yeah its frustrating especially for them , I imagine they would have much rather it went smoothly .
but IMO this is the point of the test, and im glad its happening now and not during open beta stages

a new free test will be posted as soon as the issue is fixed, just keep an eye on your emails
