@casgadom said in Lore is IMPORTANT:

Would love to see some official lore additions from player experiences at a later time. Like places you'll get to travel to or quests in memory of certain players (and/or battles for example).

Like EVE, where players pretty much write the story?

    • Hey Sunti, is all art on your website, concept art for Fractured?

      Tagging @Sunti and @Prometheus. πŸ˜›

I am referring to this art for those wondering what I am talking about: https://suosunty.wixsite.com/michelemontini. We know for a fact some of that art is concept art, but what about the rest? It looks great. πŸ˜„

@prometheus said in Contest: Involve people?:

@Hellmaster91 that's a very nice idea! It's not the only type of contest we could run, by the way. Character backgrounds (or more in general, writing) could be another fertile ground. We'll think about it! πŸ˜„

We're going to need more lore before we can write backgrounds for our characters. πŸ˜›

    • RE: Discord questions and answers.

Q: Would I be able to create Demon and Beastmen characters or if I create a Beastmen I can't create another character from another race? If I decide to play Beastmen just because I only want to PVE, would I have to PVP if demons travel to Arboreus or its prohibited to pvp in Arboreus?

A: You can have different characters of different races at the same time. If Demons travel to certain regions of Arboreus, they can attack you, but they'll be a lot weaker than they are on Tartaros because of their Evil alignment, which is rejected by Arboreus. Additionally, the environment (NPCs) will react against them. In sum, you'll be entirely safe in some areas and quite safe in the others as well.

    • Future spotlights.

Yo, quite often when Prometheus writes a spotlight, he asks us what we would like to see next. Yet, we never answer that question... πŸ˜› So, let's have a discussion about the spotlights we would like to see in the future. Keep in mind that the next one will be about resting, attributes and combat schools.

Personally, I would like to see a spotlight about player cities. From what I've seen, it sounds really interesting. NPCs setting up shop in your town, sieges, guild-related stuff, etc. Besides that, the gods and lore intrigue me aswell.

    • RE: Discord questions and answers.

Q: Is "Fist Combat" going to be a thing in this game (as in a skill tree or something that allows you to deal lots of damage with em)?

A: It will be. You can fight unarmed and there are plenty of abilities specifically for that.

    • RE: Which school of magic will you focus?

That's a tough question because some of the schools are more divided by role rather than playstyle. For example, if you want to be a pyromancer, I don't think you're going to be very effective with just Invocation. You're probably going to need fire AOE from conjuration, fire shield from Abjuration, etc. Only the physical schools seem to be clearly defined. (For example, if you want to be a ranger, you'll obviously go into Marksmanship).

Personally, I have a really hard time deciding. I like battlemages, I like healing, and I tend to gravitate towards marksmanship in action RPGs but often get bored because it's often a 1 button spamfest. For Fractured though, I am looking at a few possibilities right now:

      1: Assassination + Marksmanship.
Ranged and stealthy, always a cool combination. Sneaking up to my targets and pinging them from afar, very deadly in PvP aswell. Both schools also appear to have a lot of synergy. Both schools use Dexterity and Perception as their stats, making it very easy to build around. They also both mention poisons, so I wonder if there's synergy there aswell.

      2A: Martial Arts.
Imagine a Beastman storming at people and kicking/punching them to death. Depending on the feel and animation of the abilities, it could feel very feral. Combined with Assassination, it would probably be a pretty lethal combination, and an alternative to stabbing things in the back.

      2B: Martial Arts, monk-style.
Monks. Many games have them. WoW monks, Diablo 3 monks, etc. Martial arts + magic and healing. This sounds like a very fun combination to me aswell, but might require investment in too many different stats to make it work. With Martial Arts focusing on Dexterity and Strength, and the magical schools focusing on Intelligence, that's 3 out of 6 stats that I would need to invest in to make it work. It's probably possible, but I might end up being mediocre in every stat then.

      3: Battlemage.
One of my favorite playstyles is to combine magic and melee into one coherent playstyle. In Fractured's case, I would probably be looking at a combination of Warfare and Conjuration. With any luck, not that much investment into Intellect will be required to make the mage side of the build work. Getting a few Conjuration buffs will probably work out fine. I mean, the one revealed Conjuration ability appears to enchant your weapon with lightning and that looks like it's made for melee.

      4: Engineer.
I love Engineer playstyles. The Engineer was my favorite class in Warhammer Online. Considering the fact that humans are living in a steampunk setting, it will probably be possible to build one. However, since humans are the only ones who can benefit from human technology, I would have to roll a human to be able to play one, and I don't know if I'm willing to do that. It would very much depend on the justice system on Syndesia. If steampunk abilities exist, they can probably be found among Marksmanship (guns) and Conjuration (deployables). As Marksmanship and Conjuration use 4 stats in total, it would probably be a tough build to make though.

      5: Full support.
Depending on the group play, I might end up going with a very support heavy build. The build would focus on Restoration, probably Abjuration and perhaps Divination. As all these schools depend on Intelligence, it will be an easy build to make.

These are the builds I am currently thinking of, but without a full ability list, I can't make a final decision. πŸ˜›

If everyone thinks like this, there will never be a launch. πŸ˜‰ Small independent companies like this one rely on help from the community to develop their game.

    • A few questions about the primal form mechanic.

      Hey,

1: When a beastman switches to their primal form, they gain access to unique abilities. Can these abilities be customized in any way or are they set in stone?

2: How do these primal form abilities work with attributes? Do they scale with certain attributes or does it not matter? Also, how do they work with resources like mana?

@evolgrinz said in The PvE vs PvP Thread:

I must admit I am already starting to lose interest int he game as mostly PvE player in all games I play, reading how the PvP players are talking here and how they basically just want to bully the PvE players and make their life miserable any way they can.

Same here. Back when I first joined this forum, I warned Prometheus this would happen. If he thinks PvE and PvP can coexist together like this, Fractured will be dead within the year. There are people on this forum who are going to play this game solely to get rid of all the PvE Beastmen. The upcoming spotlight is going to be very interesting, and probably the determining factor for many people here, on both the PvE and PvP side.

    • RE: Spells and ability list

      From the third spotlight: (https://fracturedmmo.com/feature-spotlight-3-knowledge-system/)

When you open your Character Abilities window for the first time, almost all the spells listed in each School are in an Unknown state.
When an ability is Unknown, you character doesn’t know anything about it (surprising, eh), including its effect and what are the tasks required to unlock it – you’re only able to catch a glimpse of its icon. How to discover an ability? Just play the game! Travel, fight, gather, craft – whatever you fancy. As soon as you accidentally perform one of the tasks required to unlock an ability, it will switch to Discovered state.

@finland said in I want to get excited but...:

@jackbinimbul they are like that but don't worry about it, I'm defendending the PvErs by months. They just want an Open World Arena Full Loot, they reallly does not care about other feature/tasks. That why I remeber alway that a MMORPG must have PvE activities. Anyway DS have a clear view and does not want to make an "Open World Arena" or a "Gank Fest Game". Said this, trust DS and stay tuned.

A lot of the gankers here are just fearmongering imo. All that talk about gank legions visiting Arboreus every 30 min, Beastmen being so pacifist that they won't come to the defense of their planet and let their fellow Beastmen die. Also, some people are still making it sound like all of Arboreus will be PvP when in reality it's not. The gankers have an extreme hate for PvE players but know they can't gank them in Fractured, so now they're trying to discourage PvE players from playing Fractured through lies and fearmongering.

I don't think bosses will drop loot in the traditional sense. Probably just resources like the rest of the dungeon.

With crafting being such a huge part of the game, I imagine crafting recipes will also be loot drops.

Now I imagine a bear dropping a recipe teaching players how to cook his meat. ;(

@vengu said in An MMO Free of Levels and Classes?:

The devs have never said that gear is going to be purely cosmetic. They do have stats from what I know but a lot of it will be situational. For example, you'll need different types of armor for different environments.

Here's some info from my compilation thread:
      https://forum.fracturedmmo.com/topic/175/gear-system/5
      https://forum.fracturedmmo.com/topic/332/types-of-armor/2
      https://forum.fracturedmmo.com/topic/816/what-about-progress/17

Exactly. I keep reading all these posts on gear won't matter, which I find impossible to believe. Might as well fight naked then.

I think this game will have deep synergies across skills, biomes, and gear based on what I've read so far. Everything is described as "situational". Understanding these synergies is what I think will separate the knowledgeable player from the "noob".

Of course, I could be completely full of shit - wouldn't be the first time πŸ™‚

I suspect the gear system will be much like Guild Wars. Different pieces of gear will have different bonuses, but they won't be tiered. You might have a platebody with 20 fire resistance and a platebody with 20 cold resistance, but you won't have a platebody with 20 fire res and a platebody with 40 fire res.
