Also @Tuoni please don't try to bring too much science into my game. I find it ironic when folks talk about 'not being scientific' or 'realistic' in my fantasy game πŸ˜‰

Well there is a huge difference between fantasy and non-sense genre. Fantasy does not mean everything unnatural or supernatural can be explained by magic, fantasy still have rules to be fantasy and especially believable. πŸ˜‰

EDIT: This case is of course not so black and white (fantasy and nonsense) what I wrote at first place. There is differencies and a lot of levels between those two.

@Azraelius said in Weapon animations based on build:

@Tuoni I do think moving things are difficult, they did get moving cloaks and some stuff with path of exile, so also doable at some point... just a matter of priorities I guess. having the game release and be fun is no 1

It can be done for sure, but there is really some problematic points. I will use Albion online as an example. There is this weapon named morning star in the game and in beta it had a chain and ball, but still characters were wielding that like mace with stiff handle. Here is picture how it looked like:
      stiff chain

People complained about this a lot, but it was too troublesome task to make it actually moving chain so they changed the weapon so it had stiff handle like in this picture:
      New version

So they took a shortcut. From animation point of view, this was most likely smart decision, but it kind of affected to this weapon's special ability called root prison. It was clearly designed that the chain is rooting other people when spin around them, but now with stiff handle the ability won't make that much sense anymore. So I hope DS devs will take in account this kind of possible design issues when implementing weapons.

    • RE: What’s the max group size?

Oh well, if there is not any information about the max. number of players in one group, lets ask people's opinions. How much would be good amount?

I would say max 40 or min 20. So something between those would be nice.

What I have understood, that weapons with moving animations are hard to implement, like whips, morning stars, flails and such, but rest weapons are quite basic stuff.

It would be kind of cool if e.g. strength affects your character's style to carry a heavy weapon. When STR 10 guy drags the heavy weapon behind and barely can lift it up, STR 20 guy easily carries that heavy weapon on shoulder.. 😁 I know I know not gona happen, but still would be quite unique.

Well if we put aside that how much more work this could cause.. I think developers could think at first place how some of the weapons are wield even there would be just one option. Like how daggers are wield.. like swords or something like in this picture (which looks much more cooler btw). πŸ™‚

@Sindariya said in How long ago was Elysium destroyed?:

I wonder how much time passed since the 3 planets were formed. Since magic was involved it is hard to guess.

This is interesting question, because if we think this from scientific point of view, it may have took millions (even hundreds of millions) of years to shape the fragments to planets. Sooo I guess there is a good amount of magic involved to shorten this time to almost "non-exist".

I am personally always interested of the lore in games, because that makes the world usually much more believable and explains a lot of things and happenings ingame.

Well I do not think any mortal remembers it, maybe try asking one of the Gods themselves, but they will probably not be willing to speak about it.

Well I do not personally mind if there would be different styles and I think those would be pretty cool, but I afraid that would cause designers a lot of more work.. And is that work valueable enough when compared to benefits, I am not sure.

    • RE: Gods, Gates, and Goods

@Artien said in Gods, Gates, and Goods:

I hope this is the right area for this idea. I was reading some other posts that got me thinking. If there are gods, and they can affect Karma/abilities, they should also be able to affect the natural world(s) and materials.

Gods kind of affects already to the world, they have set rules for different races when they travel away from homeplanet. So in Fractured gods contributes to shape the world and give citizens some benefits, so they are not just passive operators on the background. This would actually back up your suggestion, but..

@Artien said in Gods, Gates, and Goods:

Wouldn't it be cool if, say after a divine quests completes, you get to visit the home of the specific god and see them? Then you would be 'bestowed' your prize. Then, afterwards, they would ask you a question with three answers, and depending on the answer, they would also give you a 'key' that literally opened a door or portal at a specific location/time/setting that has a description you have to decipher.

I know, that in some games players travels to halls of gods and actually meet those. Gods usually looks like humans, but they are distinctly bigger.. Anyway, I am not sure if players should actually meet the gods in Fractured and I would say keeping them more like mysterious operators would give more believable impression imho. So I would leave that F2F meeting totally away..

However, that key suggestion is still useable idea. Maybe gods can grant keys to loyal champions (without facing them), which could open some hidden treasure chests or secret layer in dungeons for example. So basically the god sends you for the final quest, where at the end waits the ultimate reward.

Moreover, It is relatively easy to create religions, factions or cults around different gods. These factions could live e.g. in dungeons where everything is themed after them. I do not want the bosses to be gods themselfs, but there can be some nasty minions which represent the god, and that way we can get the feeling to battle with rival cult and god.

      @Goemoe said in End-Game content:

This game is for friends of the full loot PvP game and offers nice tidbits of PvE amusement, but not enough for real PvE friends. Which is nothing wrong but the reason for me to leave. No game for me, as I am fond of MMORPG PvE content. Much luck and success with the game!

Well there might be something what devs have not revealed yet, so I would say you should still follow the progression. I am a little bit concerned too, but because Fractured is meant to cater PvE centric players as well, there might be something interesting under development and/or something what we just do not know yet. Still you pointed out valid concern and I hope we will get answers in near future.

    • RE: End-Game content

@Goemoe I understand your concern related to PvE content. In sandbox games life skills have a bigger role what it comes to PvE, but usually there is nothing special besides some dungeons or world bosses, because the focus is in PvP content. However, Fractured has new kind of approach and they are planning to cater PvE centric players as well. Otherwise there would not be Arboreus at first place. Thats is why devs needs to bet on PvE content more than normally in sandbox games.

Dungeons and world bosses needs to be what players wants and needs to repeat and not just run through once. How Fractured will do that? I am not sure either. What players can get from dungeon that they feel progressing or achieving something?

Actually I have not heard any mention of raids, but imo Fractured needs harder PvE content on top of dungeons.

    • RE: Economy Balance

NoLife does not have such impact in Fractured because of horizontal progression adds mostly more options rather than more power. I do not mind if there will be some restrictions, I just hope that the gap is not shrinken with real money.

    • RE: Asteroids offers a good amount of possibilities

@Sindariya said in Asteroids offers a good amount of possibilities:

Furthermore I want to see a special biome, not one from the planets. There should be also special animals that could have a stellar/aether/nether theme since they were so long in space and changed.

Prometheus mentioned that they have planned to implement different kind of biomes, and which are not always scientific-wise. I personally hope as well to see different biome types rather than those we already have in three main planets. That would make asteroids much more interesting from exploration point of view. Unique animals like you mentioned would make sense as well and that way open access to new resources. Not all animals and creatures needs to be totally new concepts, there can be same animals than in planets, but someway evolved and mold to suite asteroid theme.

I personally like to see more scientific approach. It will give you feel that you are actually in asteroid and not just in other world where you travel through portal. What I understood they have planned kind of both and maybe that is good middle road solution and opens more possibilities.

i'm more curious how we get to said asteroid.

So even we know we get there via portal, you are interested to know how that actually happens in practise, right?

I will continue from here.. I am curious too how we actually get to the surface of asteroids. Will there be random or constant portal places? How and when those portals will open?

@Sindariya said in Asteroids offers a good amount of possibilities:

I hope to find fragments of the lore there. Like traces of the powerful magic that threw elysium in chaos. So perhaps we can unlock some special spells outside of the knowledge system.

I like that asteroid fragment and lore idea. It would be same time interesting to read more about the lore and get some benefits as well.

I was straight away thinking some kind of meteor shower AoE spell or something like that. πŸ™‚ Lets say if devs does not want to add new abilities outside of the knowledge system, then maybe these fragments could be augments, which can change current spells more approriate for asteroid theme? Or maybe those fragments could be parts of some relic items what will be in Fractured anyway?
