The two spotlights I want to see are town conquests and how the gear system is balanced.

These are big topics as well.

There is so much involved in town conquest and @Sindariya 's suggestion of player organisations will be one part of that. There are few things which comes ahead straight away. What different scales of battles there can be? Timers, from declaration til start? How logistics will be handled? What kind of siege weapons and defensive mechanics there will be? How long the battle takes? How often conquer can be started? Oh boy.. that is huge.

Gear system is something I am really interested too. If we can mix abilities and gear freely, it will be a challenge to balance the combat well. How many "tiers" there will be in gear's and how much is exactly the gap between different levels. I know it is planned there won't be heavy tier system, but most certainly there will be at least few steps so players have something more to achieve than jus the basic stuff.

Which details regarding crafting do you want to see in the spot light? After the alpha 1 I don't believe that there is so much more to see.

Alpha 1 had really restricted gathering and crafting, so I am sure it just barely touched the surface and players had access only to craft the very basic and primitive starter stuff. There was no steam technology or any kind of smithing to provide most of the weapons and armors for example. I collected good amount of possibilities in this Crafting Matrix and I am sure this kind of stuff we could easily see in Fractured. There will be more advanced crafting, even devs wants the basic items to be easily replaceable. So the crafting (and actually gathering and refining too) will be a huge topic and we do not know much of it at this point.

True there will be much more recipes and items to craft, but the process will be the same as with the basics. Collect the materials needed and than press the crafting button. Not sure if I want to know how many different recipes are possible. And since I haven't heard that there will be professions I didn't see the need for a spot light. that's why I asked. I have the feeling I missed soemthing huge.

Here is some questions which needs some answers or adjustments.. We do not actually know how much there will be different kind of professions and how deep those goes with advanced crafting (item tiers). Where all professions will be placed in school and knowledge systems? How we can unlock professions and how the progression works? What kind of tasks there will be? How does the attributes effects to crafting? Is there RNG involved? Do we get bonuses for crafting depending where we craft? Does your race matter in crafting? How different crafted items will decay and break? How repairing works? Does crafting need special tools? Is there any limit how much stuff you can craft in a day? Is there item enchanting or augmenting involved?

So I guess you are thinking this crafting too narrowly and only the crafting process itself. It is the whole crafting system where we need more information and the actual process is just one part of that. I hope you understand now better what I actually mean. 🙂

Well you are kind of both right.. Maybe these VIP, PLUS, PREMIUM packages can be called optional subscription. At least that is something I have seen used. 😉

@FibS said in Weapon animations based on build:

It would be much easier to simply have multiple animation sets that the player character chooses between as a vanity option, and each weapon is tagged with which animation type it uses (e.g. sword vs. mace vs. flail.)

This could actually work pretty well. Unlocking special combat stances could be set inside knowledge system and on top of that take attributes somehow count as well. Would be interesting add and goes well with theme of horizontal progression.

    • RE: Guilds planets and races

@B3CK3R said in Guilds planets and races:

      • Will be a possibility of humans, demons and beastmen be on the sabe guild? or even play as a party? What are the implications for this to happen?

I think they have planned that guilds are somehow race and/or alignment locked.. However, imo, that will be very complicated to get work right. Usually in MMORPGs playstyles between guild members can vary from extreme to another. In addition.. What about alts? What about gaming communities outside of Fractured? Karma can change? So I see here lots of factors that needs to be thought well before making any final decisions.

      • How locked are the races to the playstyles? Could i create a beastman character but later on decide to join a pvp focused guid to raid and conquer cities?

Yes you can, but when living as Beastman in Syndesia (Human planet) you can not use your special racial abilities. In Tartaros (Demon planet) it will be even harder. You can not stay long and you will get quite heavy debuffs. There is way to turn permanent evil (Abomination) by collecting enough negative karma and doing some special divine quests for evil goddess Babilis. Then you will have better access to PvP as beastman. If you want more free choise for playstyle, then human is the best choise.

      • How are rescources distribuited arround the planets? More intense pvp planets will have an high risk high reward resoursce system? (mostly like albion online where black zones have high tier resources)

Every planet has own resources, some are same as in other planets, but some are totally unique. That way planets will be dependent of each other. If I remember right, Syndesia has most different kind of resources and is kind of central planet what it comes for raw materials. So the system is not like in Albion. DS developers wanted especially get out of that mentality and focus to do equal content for every playstyle and not cater only hardcore PvP players.

      2. Invite him to join you on a mighty quest
      3. request he joins you in picking berrys and licking rocks

😂 I was thinking something more complex, but maybe it can be done with just one question as well.

I saw this youtube video from MetaGoblin, where he has this Classic WoW questionnaire to help people to choose right class. Of course choose between nine classes is a little bit different than choose between three races.. Unless this questionnaire contain all sub-races and metamorphosis what Fractured has, that would be quite interesting actually.

Second would be more informations about player organisations. How will the party system work (restrictions regarding races, karma or something else)? Guildsystem - what have they planned for that? Town inhabitants?

Now player organisations is a huge topic which have a lot of question marks on top.

What it comes to parties, we do not know group sizes, how planned collisions and friendly fires works with alignment system and with different planet rules.

How many characters can be in one guild? What about alliances? Is there guild progression system, and if there is, what kind? Are guilds race/alignment locked? What kind of guild management QoL features have planned?

I am very eager to know more about these topics and ofc the lore too, because that interests me as well. I am not so keen on RP stuff, but I know that is important part to some people and needs some more information at some point.

    • RE: How long ago was Elysium destroyed?

@Meiki said in How long ago was Elysium destroyed?:

@Tuoni Well the easiest explanation is not just "magic" but that the guardian gods of the three planets were the ones who transformed the fractals into the planets little by little. How long did that take... well they are most probably not omnipotent as they were still unable to stop the Fracture from occurring so they still abide to some universal powers - like gravitation, thermodynamics, etc. But they are probably capable of bending them to a greater degree - like reverting the entropy of the One planet and instead creating and forming three planets from but a fractals. Well fantasy and non-sense can go pretty well hand-in-hand, yet make sense in the end. As what does not make sense in our universe with its rules does not have to not make sense in a different universe. (Even in our universe the rules are not stable, as gravitation bends rules on its own - most importantly those of time). But hell, it could be even a natural occurrance with no input from the gods as we already know and accept many fantasy things as normal and non-nonsense - like a whole world being on a back and carried by animals, while being flat, yet having day and night cycles, gravity, latent heat, etc.

Involve gods for Fractured event (destruction of Elysium and shaping new planets) is not actually bad idea. So it would be some kind of mix of science, supernatural and creation. Yeah sounds quite food.

Talking about fantasy in general was a little bit too vague and my intend was compare high fantasy and nonsense genres, and especially from MMORPG and Fractured point of view. I am not sure is there any nonsense centric MMORPGs out there, but if a game would replace a lot of reason for absurd and mindless content, I know I would not play that kind of game. So in case like this, I would say high fantasy is far away from nonsense even those two categories are kind of close to each other. I hope this my attempt to explain my point makes some sense and is not totally nonsense. 😅

@Gibbx said in How long ago was Elysium destroyed?:

@Tuoni I agree with you on this. High fantasy only needs to have consistent rules. The 'scientific' rules that govern such realms to not have to fit IRL science, they only have be consistent within the game world. I find it ironic that when I cast a level 5 fireball to immolate a group of Gnolls that someone wants to start arguing about physics demands how that fireball would spread... Fantasy always depends on s certain amount of suspension of belief. That suspension just needs to be consistent.

That being said, if Fractured could flesh out the lore a little more, it would help with that necessary suspension of belief. OFC finishing the game is more important.

I should been more precise with my point at the first place so it lead to some misunderstandings. Sorry about that.

You are right that arguing about fireball's physics goes really micro level stuff and needs less or none attention.

    • RE: How long ago was Elysium destroyed?

@FibS Lets stay with Fractured and where it stands as a fantasy MMORPG game. And lets be more precise with that so there won't be missunderstandings. I think high fantasy game would be the best category for Fractured. In high fantasy genre it is typical, that the whole fantasy world is done very detailed. So the world has history, mythology, mythical creatures, flora&fauna and maybe even languages. Now all these parts needs to go well together and follow the same rules. And when I am speaking of believable world, it is the feeling, impression and sense of meaning what player gets when playing the game.

I am not suffering from any "Dungeon Master's Fallacy" here, and asking every record from everything. We were talking about the Fractured, the main event of the history. I do not know about you, but imho it is really crucial to open up at least that part of lore.

    • RE: How long ago was Elysium destroyed?

@Gibbx said in How long ago was Elysium destroyed?:

Unfortunately at this time Fractured is pretty lore light game which iirc was intentional on the dev's part so they could concentrate on actually making the game. This is the one thing that I wish could be addressed by I do understand the reasons why it is so.

Game can of course be lore light, but the lore you introduce needs to be thought well and whole. It is not enough to tell people, that there was this fractured once, which destroyed a planet and divided it to three different new planets. If you leave that backgroud story there without any explanations or reasons, it only causes reaction "what the hell?" And like I said in my post: "..I guess there is a good amount of magic involved to shorten this time.." So even I popped up the realism, I still told how this will be handled with help of fantasy and magic. The most crucial part is to explain why the time is so short and how those supernatural powers were involved. That explanation should be believable and in line with other supernatural magic powers in the game. Otherwise there might occur contradictions, which can change interesting concepts to more like something weird.

Also @Tuoni please don't try to bring too much science into my game. I find it ironic when folks talk about 'not being scientific' or 'realistic' in my fantasy game 😉

Yeah I guess you are right. Too much science ivolved would be more like science fiction than fantasy. My problem is that I have gathered too much information related how to write fantasy or build a fantasy world, so nowadays it is hard to me just enjoy the ride, because I automatically start to analize and examine the fantasy world very critically. 😅
