@Bobomy said in WoW Classic is coming:

I don't think the latter will become a problem with Classic, but the former just might, judging by the game guide industry on YouTube, talent and best-in-slot calculators, surveys concerning the prevalence of races, classes and professions. It's also going to suffer greatly under streamers.

They're turning Classic into numbers, it's likely to be ruled by the min-max mentality and have no new players.

You are right, Classic won't be a totally new experience to most people, because there is so much information out there and private severs running vanilla versions. I have personally tested mage and warlock on private server and I have to say, I really liked that experience. I am going to benefit some tips what are available, but I am not personally going too far with min-maxing. I am not going to take this journey too serious and I am going to focus just to have fun. If it turns to be just a nostalgia thing for me and I bore fast, that is fine too, at least it will work as a filler when waiting something better to appear (like Fractured).

But they also said, that they will reconcider adding stretch goals later in beta. πŸ˜‰

@Holya I am awere of class balances in Vanilla and I know the challenges of Druid, but I do not mind at all. I am not going to play classic to top dps or hps meters. I am going to have fun and maybe playing with laid back guild with no rush to kill any raid bosses. I do not know what role I am going to focus, but balance I am going to leave aside.

For some reason, I've never tried WoW, or ever been interested. I think it's just not sandboxy enough. πŸ™‚

I started my MMORPG journey with Runescape and I continued after that to WoW. I played a lot of Warcraft 1, 2, 3 RTS games so it was quite expected that I was going for WoW at some point.

I have always played themepark and sandbox games quite equally, but nowadays I prefer more sandbox games too.

@Dariusacmar Actually that difficulty and lack of money is few things why I am interested to test out Classic. On top of that I like how the professions really matters, and are crucial part of the game what it comes for gearing and money making.

    • WoW Classic is coming

WoW Classic is launcing 27 of August 2019. Who is interested to test that out? If you are, what are your expectations? What kind of plans you have?

I am a former WoW player and I played almost 6 years from beginning of WotLK till end of MoP. I played at least as a semi hardcore, but I am going to take more casual approach for Classic and just enjoy the journey. I have ran through all the old content afterwards, but I am interested to experience that in the right time.

My main character was Death Knight almost the whole time, but now when that is not available, I have to choose something else. I had also several max level alts; Rogue, Druid, Mage, Priest and Warlock from where to choose my new main. At the moment I feel like I am going with a Tauren Druid. Simply because I can not decide, do I want to dps, tank or heal. With Druid I just leave all options open, even I know Druid does not shine in end game PvE raids when compered to other classes. However, Druids are great levelers and good in PvP, so those are huge benefits in Classic for sure.

I like how realistic those working stations looks like. And what it comes to that video, that AoE spider web spell really got my attention. I presume it is a AoE CC ability. GJ! πŸ™‚

I guess my point is you're unhappy to support the project at the tier you did. I'm happy where I am and will upgrade because of this sale.

      Wrong again.. 🀦

I do think it's pretty petty that you're worried about a little discount vs DS getting more cash for support.

      Wrong AGAIN.. 🀦 🀦

I am actually not sure anymore, that do you not understand my posts and my point or don't you even want to understand.. πŸ€”

@Gothix Not all producers are bad, but My.Com is definitely one I do not trust. I followed long Revelation Online and played a little bit open beta, then My.Com came in and messed up the game. I have understood they did something for Skyforge too.. Now they are going to produce Ashes of Creation in Europe, which might not end well either..

Yes, the Beta 1 is planned to start Q1 2020.

However, we are at the moment a little bit behind the schedule, so the beginning may be pushed to start Q2 2020 for example.

are you saying the early bird packs should have contained less because they were cheaper?

Okaaay... it seams you do not understand my point at all, so it is better to call this off.

DS already has the early funds. that's how they were able to get started.

No-one has said anything else. You miss the whole point it seams. 🀦

      I haven't seen a game startup that hasn't offered a sale.

Again ^^... Now you are forgetting few variates related for these discounts. Value of the early backers vs. current ones and the development phase of the game. Those who funds a game early on should always get more stuff when compared to amount you invest. If companies will break this logic and pattern, it might lead soon to situation where people do not fund crowdfunding campaigns like Kickstarter anymore, because why should they, if they get same benefits later with discount prices.

    • RE: Pledge Packs Are Going... With A Sale!

At start I want to point out again, that I have not personally lost anything and I could benefit from this discount if I want. So I am not trying to drive my own case here. I am trying to be objective and make my point out based on personal experiences from other games and especially from business funding.

I do not mind either if some people are fine with DS's way to handle these discounts, but there is for sure place for complaints as well. But I would not compare retail purchases for development funding, because those are a different thing. Early funds are always more valueable than later income, because those early funds makes the development possible at first place. That is what every developer in every company should remember. This is the main reason why I do not personally like this kind of operating model.

first to adopt usually pay more for that privilege.

Pay more for the privilege to invest money earlier to get less benefits.. sounds quite awesome privilege. πŸ˜‚

you aren't getting less benefits. you get the same benefits as someone getting it on sale.

Okay, less benefit was maybe a wrong choice of word and I meant to refer with it for pricing. Still, that does not sound like a privilege if you pay more and you are not getting anything extra.

however, you probably entered into the game and tested a little bit, while they might not have.

Firstly, have a chance to test out few days couple of unfinished features, is far from privilege.

Secondly, just few packages has access to Alpha 1, not all of them.

now creating a game is a business and offering sales is a smart business decision.

It is a business for sure, but offering sales is not automatically a smart business decision. It depends a lot how and when it will be implemented. Timing for discounts was good, but doing it with expense of early backers is not the best way to handle this kind of situations. This questions the whole meaning of early crowdfunding, where idea is to offer early investors something special and better so they will buy your product at start of development. Now what is the point to fund early on if you can get the product cheaper later? I have seen in other games how devs compensates this kind of actions to early backers. Not returning any money, but offering them something in game extra stuff.

@Farlander said in Pledge Packs Are Going... With A Sale!:

@Pluto It is common practice for purchase prices of games to go down though. You did get into alpha 1 while those new guys coming around won't get in until alpha 2. They missed an alpha phase if it helps you justifying their lower cost. Their cost is roughly 10-20% lower? I don't even buy games on Steam unless they start hitting the 50% or higher from my wishlist. That's when I felt I have gotten a deal lol.

Discounts are common with final products and even then after the game has been on markets for a while or another expansion has been released already.

Early fundings are more important for companies than money what comes later, because those can make your project possible and secure the early development. Those early investors are more valueable than those who jumps later on board and not vice versa. That is why putting early funders in worse position is more like a slap on the face and bad way to say thank you.

Yeah some people had priviledge to play the game few days with couple of unfinished features.. that surely warms their heart. πŸ˜–

I am most suprised, that people who have been slapped on the face are actually protecting this kind of act.. 🀦

@Eurav said in Pledge Packs Are Going... With A Sale!:

..having to pay more on something because I bought it earlier while not having any advantage of having it earlier? WTF?

You paid more for the exact same thing (you donΒ΄t gain anything for having it earlier) just because you pledged between Early Bird and this sale. Just seems like a "punishment" for people who did pledge in that timeframe..

Exactly! This does not make much sense.

Even I am maybe going to benefit from this discount, I kind of agree with @Pluto . Those who pledge earlier should be in better position not worse. This kind of behaviour from developers behalf signals, that why buy the game today if I can wait and buy it later cheaper? πŸ€”

@Canterbury said in What albion did wrong- not a bash thread:

I hated the maps in Albion. All really small and tricksy pathing. None of it felt like a big world where I could go anywhere. It felt really really really annoying to get around after the first hour or two.

I've gotten used to traveling around Albion, but due to portals, you're never really more than two/three maps away from a city (at least, I've never felt like I'm way out in the wilds, not even in the black zones).

The Fractured map for the single Syndesia continent, on the hand, feels huge. πŸ™‚ No gates between maps, far fewer obvious choke points to camp, with a general feeling of the player being quite small.

I'm hoping that the map becomes more diverse (as opposed to the false hugeness of infinite uniformity), and handles high population well.

This is so true and was one of the huge mistakes what SBI did just before launch. I do not mind few fast travel options in games, but when you have access from the central hub of the world (Caerleon) to every other city (5) and through 16 portals all over the Outlands, it is just too much for a sandbox game. This made the world feel small. Now corrective actions have taken and maybe the current traveling system is better... not sure though.
