@Tuoni That depends what you mean by "tanky". You can get command or shout-type spells to buff the party that are CHA-based, so Udoadra with its +3 CHA is also a suitable choice.

With tanky I meant a heavy armored frontline meatsack like tank, melee dps or some kind of hybrid of those two. What I checked from the Race Spotlight I think the Bear would be better in that role than the Wolfie. However, the Wolf is very group oriented and will be a great support race so perhaps some kind of support/tank hybrid is suitable and also interesting as well.

Most likely I am going to play as a human even I will also try out demons and Beastmen as well. The final choise depends a lot with who I end up to play with. I might end up to play as a caster, a melee damage dealer or a tank. Based on tests so far I have been most interested to play as a melee damage dealer or a tank. I guess I am going to change between those melee roles depending of the content I am playing at that moment. I guess the best solution for tanky melee class is Nheedra the bear-kin or Hellfire demon.

Just an FYI, there are no plans at the moment to implement any kind of daily content. (daily quests, daily login bonuses, etc). You're fine to discuss it of course, but if you're against dailies, you have nothing to worry about right now. πŸ™‚

Oh thank god... or Dynymight devs. πŸ˜‰

However, I would actually be surprised if there would be any.

@NeroulGB Yeah you are right that the starting point for PvP would be much more fair in PvP servers which is actually a good thing.

"We are unlikely to provide PVP-only servers as it would divide our development resources and community, We could investigate this again at a later date but it’s not something we are going to support at launch."

No Tartaros for launch but perhaps later... πŸ€”

And what the upgrading/expanding skills has to do with daily quests?

I may be wasting my time as you are clearly unable to read and won't care when I repeat this with new wording, but whatever.

Fractured pretends not to have quests / "experience" / "grinding" / "farming", but in actuality it still has all of these things. They are simply not called that and aren't arranged in a single linear progression - they instead follow the modular layout of a job--based RPG paradigm, combined with a collection and familiarity system (Resources / Bestiary.) Thus, your cheeky basis for denying that Fractured would ever have daily quests does not hold water, as other games with all of the same mechanics very well have daily quests.

I may be also wasting my time as you are clearly unable to read or understand that we are talking here about daily quests, not how the skill progression can be compared to questing. So this makes me wonder that do you actually know what daily quest means? You know the difference between regular quest and daily quest?

If developers are not going to focus implement quests in general (excluding the religion/alignment based ones) why on earth they would even consider adding something so bad as daily quests? πŸ˜‰

Fractured already has a more intuitive equivalent to quests, it just doesn't call them that and you don't go find an NPC to start them. Upgrading / expanding your skills is done through exactly the same activities you'd do for a quest (kill this many enemies, go here, do this cheevo, etc.)

And what the upgrading/expanding skills has to do with daily quests?

Because it vastly improves daily logins.

At first it perhaps does but within time it starts to irritate and bore people and have a negative impact. Daily quest are also totally against the nature of sandbox why it would be odd to see those in Fractured. Daily quest are a perfect example of hand holding and how players are pushed to do certain content chosen by the developers.

@Razvan I agree that dividing mounts to under different main categories would be the best solution. That system could be spiced up even more with passive and active mount abilities and perhaps also with item slots (maybe one ability and item slot is enough). It would be nice to have a animal breeder as profession option and other crafters having a possibility to craft mount items e.g. saddlebags, horseshoes..

I want that my daily activities are not tight to something I do not want to do but I have to if I do not want to fall behind the curve. Daily quest systems also gets boring quite fast because the continuing repetitive mentality. Sure there will be daily activities in certain areas of Fractured as well but I hope those are still something which are based on player's choise, e.g. farming crops in my estate. If a game offers different kind of activities to do and goals to achieve that is enough and there is no need to force players to do something specific.

I will next use myself as an example here even I am not sure if I am the best example as kind of overall/all around MMORPG player. My weekly activities will consist of gathering, crafting, trading, PvE content (solo&group), building (my house and near by town) and OWPvP action. There is enough activities to do without need of daily forcing from developers behalfs. I just want as much freedom as possible what it comes to my daily playtime management. Imo sandbox games are also more about the freedom rather than holding hands in daily basis.

Greetings to all the Fractured forum community. My nickname is spyro181 and I've got a key from the Italian site MMO.it, this game seems pretty interesting and for now, I've tested it for 2/3 hours. After this month of alpha, I'll write a review hoping that it will be useful for the developers and the other players.

      Cheers to you all.

Hi and welcome. Reviews are always important and something nice to have.

    • RE: Suggestion: Different spells have different armor requirements

@Gothix I presume there will be some fast travel options at least for naked traveling to help with long distances. It would make sense that we need to abandon the house where it stands or in the closest town if houses are related to towns' influences.

Question also goes where we can respawn after we die? If we can choose for example home or closest town that will help to plan with the journey back to home.

I recently started to play Albion Online again and at start I decided to move my personal island to another city. First I moved all my stuff away from my house to my personal chest in the near city. After that I demolished all the buildings which gave me perhaps 90% of the used materials back which I also moved to my city chest. After that I needed to abandon that island in the city it was attached to. Next I started to transport the crucial stuff to the another city and I bought a new island from there. I have done few transport travels with my ox but I still have some good stuff in the other city. I also decided to sell part of my stuff to avoid some transporting. I guess this kind system is okay as far as the additional work is decent and not too painful. Albion system is of course a different what we have in Fractured and cannot be just copied but I guess something similiar would be nice, as applicaple.

I just hope that we will see a total free choise builds where different combinations are also working in practice and considerable for real and not just an illusion of free choise.

I almost forgot, the bank chest was beautiful and it was placed nicely in the middle of the village. This solution reminds me of Albion which is actually a good thing. I was wondering is the idea to players have a bank chest in every town (local of course)? That would be a good idea and maybe the chests could be upgradable to unlock more space and maybe even have options for different tabs to keep everything nicely in order.

In addition, inventories in general needs some QoL features in the future. Like STACK and SORT buttons, and faster item moving from inventory to another [with double click, shift + click or something like that (with automatic stacking)].

@Polaris said in Fractured Noob Feedback List 4/12/20:

      The Tutorial
β€’ In general, a tutorial teaches a player how to play the game: what the controls are, what icons mean and where to find things. The current tutorial works about 50% of the time.
β€’ First, players need to understand that they really need to complete the tutorial in order to progress and learn. This is not apparent when you spawn, so needs to be highlighted. In addition, it should be emphasized that multi-part quests should be completed in order or you’ll have to go back and redo to get credit for doing them.
β€’ Second, the green markings on the map are not useful if you don’t know what they are for (I originally thought they marked the town). Explaining that the green markers show tutorial quest locations or adding tooltips to them would be very helpful.
β€’ Third, while I appreciate that having to figure things out on your own produces a certain kind of satisfaction, I mostly feel like I shouldn’t have to do that in a tutorial. So, how to equip a weapon, how to ensure your class can use the equipped weapon, how to obtain a spell/skill, how to learn and use a spell or skill you obtained, how to memorize a preset – these are all things that should be explained early on so players can intuit deeper things later.
β€’ Players need to know that there are no levels but there are Knowledge Points that are spent to learn skills. I saw a lot of players asking about that today. There is more but it is a lot more granular. Overall, the tutorial needs more time spent on teaching players how Fractured does things.

You have a good points here and especially related to the tutorial. I personally did not notice at first those tutorial tasks and I was running around trying to figure out what I should actually do. I was also confused of those green stars on the map and it took me a while to figure out what they actually stand for. Now because I could craft almost everything from the beginning so I also did even those were meant to be crafted later. It was annoying to gather resources and craft items second time to get forward with the tutorial, especially because it was hard to find flint stones at least when compared to other resources. Furthermore, all the houses looked kind of same and I was running a good time around finding the hide process station for example.

I had also issues to memorize the abilities because it took me some time to figure out I need to push mouse right button to select those. I guess left button would be more obvious choise or a specific button on the screen. Then one task was learn the bash ability and because we are talking about tutorial maybe that should go hand in hand with the bear killing task. Okay I was able to check the ability progression from knowledge section because I know beforehand where to find this information. This just made me wonder what about totally new players, was it easy to unlock this bash ability?

Overall the experience from the tutorial was not that good tbh but I see how it can be improved in the future. It did not help that after a minute gameplay I was stuck between a fence and crafting station. However, the tutorial can be improved and it is a good thing to have. It could be more informative and let player to do only the steps in tutorial and nothing else.

If the process would everytime give a new punch of resources then why not but now you can only get resources once and rest is just watching the never ending gathering activity, quite entertaining (first 10 seconds). πŸ˜‰
