      @Tuoni

Then human race would be too OP, as they already have 20% more stat points to compensate for no shapeshift / passives.

Humans have more points in use but they do not get the attribute bonuses like others, and in addition, its harder for them to get an attribute over 20 which is said to be somewhat powerful milestone to reach. On top of that there are those special abilities what beastmen and demons have, therefore, that feels more like humans are UP which is why they have access to the technology at first place. I hope you have acknowledged that this was not my suggestion, this is actually what developers have planned. Moreover, we do not know how much the technology offers bonuses, and lastly the whole system sounds quite easy to balance because those current attribute points are not carved in the stone.

EDIT: Especially the attribute affinities should be taken account when comparing races and attribute distributions together, more can be read from Feature Spotlight #5

@Kralith BTW that logo reminds me a lot of the secret society Illuminati, therefore, perhaps devs have taken some influence from there... πŸ€”

    • RE: Talent tree info

@Ocobletka We have some information available and you can read about that from here: Feature Spotlight #3

If we examine the old version of talent tree it can give us some information what you can use as a base for your plans. Just remember that things migh have been changed, therefore, consider it as a directional information.

In the old version 24/60 talent points is unlocked so that person still might have 26 points left. In addition, some of the nodes has 3 small circles, meaning that the node has up to 3 levels, cost 1 point each. However, in the new talent tree these node levels are gone, at least visually, therefore we do know if those are still there. In the old talent tree we have 78 nodes (150 if node levels are counted) and the new one we have 120. Therefore, in the old talent tree a player might have chance to fill 40% of the whole tree. With the same pattern 40% of 120 nodes = 48 nodes, assuming that every node cost 1 point. πŸ˜‰

EDIT: The article actually says that 50 points is the maximum and not 60 like in the picture, so there is a contradiction which should be considered when doing any maths.

@Tuoni I don’t think they have anymore betas lined up because the launch was delayed. I could be wrong, but I haven’t seen anything saying otherwise.

Actually they have planned at least one before launch and people can try to sign up for that test for free, if they are lucky, they will get in. πŸ˜‰ Beta sign up

      @Tuoni yes. Yes it is.

In the middle of the MMORPG project they introduced a "PvE tower defenfing" game (which looks awful btw) and tried to explain this because people wanted it, however, I understood that actually no-one did. πŸ˜‚

I’m waiting until it actually releases before this honey badger gives a flip. Pre-order for what reason? Not like it’s an indie dev.

Some people wants to test out the mechanics before the launch so they will be better prepared, but anyway, I will also wait and see how the beta looks like and after that I will made my final decision of the purchase. I guess I can do some kind of starting plan based on the available information and reviews.

    • RE: Why bake bread?

@Kralith I do not think it would be bad that on top of the basic cooking that there will be an advanced cooking as well, perhaps for dedicated cooks. Complex recipes with several ingredients and herbs, combined with some cooldowns, and then the base for this kind of system is already created. Perhaps some of the most complex and time taking dishes would be more like feasts what can used in group content, like banquets and tables in WoW. In addition, perhaps some buildings in cities favors these feasts, like city or governor hall, because why the leaders and lords would eat the same food as peasants. πŸ˜‰

Long time WoW healer here πŸ™‚

I guess you have some standards and expectations then. πŸ˜‰ I have only minor experience from healing, however, I had a Disc Priest alt but the hardest content I ever healed was world bosses or heroic dungeons though. Anyhow, I guess that if someone wants the feel of Disc Priest then mixing restoration and abjuration is the way to go. However, if someone favors the nature type of healing I do not know if that will exists because restoration seams to be more about holiness.

Even we do not have much protective or healing spells in use at the moment, I am sure those will be added when group content is coming more into the game.

    • RE: Support/Healer type builds

@Buckykat I presume that healers and supporters will be a thing and that these roles can be totally separated from each other and mixed with others if want to. If we examine what the different schools of magic is intended to contain we can clearly see that abilities from the school of restoration is the main thing for healers and perhaps combi those with school of abjuration to get protective spells can be a reasonable solution as well. From here you can find more information about the different schools: Feature Spotlight #4

@Tuoni Ironically the really long ridges that you need to follow to get around a mountain makes it feel like things are just barren waste lands that feels really bare.

I don't mind the mountainous terrain but if there's only one linear path to overcome the obstructive long ridges, then it does get quite tiresome.

Open world games should avoid linear environment design as much as possible and goal for freedom of traveling and exploration instead. I run along with that wall sometime and then I turned back because I was not sure when it is going to end or if ever. πŸ˜‰

    • RE: First Play Reactions (a note to the devs)

@Kralith I think you missed the actual point. Regardless how the wall is implemented it is there creating a kind of zone and not offering seamless open world experience, and that is the main problem. On top of that the current implementation, especially the stonewall, does not look that good either. Therefore, there should not be paths every 10 meters because there should not be that wall at first place. Of course it is okay to have some obstacles blocking the access to certain areas but less would offer much better gaming experience for players, at least from exploring point of view.

In Albion different crafting stations want different food (they get bonus nutrition). Maybe Fractured devs want to make something similar?

Yeah it is true that something similar would be nice, however, perhaps that system could be develope somehow further. πŸ€”

It is okay that some food offer bonus nutritions but perhaps specific foods could buff the NPCs as well. If e.g. a blacksmith favors meat stew that could give on top of the nutrition also a temporary buff so players gets bonuses (+x%) when they craft armors or weapons for example. These bonuses can be resource return rates or a better chance to get higher quality items or something like that.

    • RE: Why bake bread?

@Prometheus I am interested to know that does different NPCs or city stations need or favor different kind of food? Because that way various dishes would have more use on top of the buffs what they usually offer. On top of that it would be nice if more complex dishes in general also offers more nutrition to the NPCs or stations.

I would be keen to try it but I'm not really willing to invest some $$ until I see it properly. I'd definitely be willing to try it though.

There will be a beta test on july so if the NDA is dropped then we will get much more information of the final product. In addition, there is a possibility to get free access to open beta, so you can sign up there from their website. πŸ˜‰

EDIT: However, I am not sure how many will acctually win the key.

    • RE: First Play Reactions (a note to the devs)

@Zori I agree. Special abilities should not be a solution for design issues. There is nothing wrong to restrict some of the areas but doing that too much will be away from the open world experience and idea of seamless world. Moreover, creating miles of copy paste stonewalls or cliffs does not look that good either, therefore, it is a visual problem as well.

doesn't change the fact that they're obnoxiously long though.

True, it does not. Those are almost comparable to invisible walls what some MMOs use to restrict the moving to special areas, not equally bad but still close enough.

    • RE: What is the future of crafting?

Yes we really need to wait and see what happens. I personally hope that crafters have a possibility to learn the recipes somehow via crafting even some recipes would be found or learned other ways as well. Crafting in MMOs is typically one of my top object of interest and especially when combined to other economic aspects like trade and market. Therefore, I will examine very closely what kind of system there is planned to be implemented, and what are its strengths and weaknesses.

Being a human will give you access to technology.

Did they ever explain this idea in more detail? "Access to technology" can mean a lot of things. Also, should anyone who lives on Syndesia have access to this perk or just human? Do humans who live on furries planet or demon planet have access to this perk?

There is not much details but a year ago we little bit played with the theme: Steampunk Technology

The idea of technology is to shorten the power gap between humans and demons/beastmen which have special bonuses and abilities from the start. Therefore, I personally expect to see bionic parts (enchant like stat bonuses) which can be attached to the gear, but perhaps on top of that the technology can offer special abilities like the ones demons and beastmen have.
