@gothix I'm not sure if it's quite right, but that sounds more like a misanthropist.

RE: Conjuration with Summoning Circles
@evolgrinz said in Conjuration with Summoning Circles:
Not sure if summoning circles are convenient. Just imagine getting surprised attacked by another player and you will have to prepare a summoning circle 1st before you can summon creatures. You'd be dead before you can summon anything.
And to be honest, I'm more a fan of temporary summoned creatures, compared to permanent pets of tamed animals.
Magic degrades over time and so does the power to be able to manifest/control the summoned creature.
Maybe an idea to be able to "overcharge" the summoning spell (by casting the summon creature spell again or something) in order to have the summoned creature stay longer, but at a risk of it going rogue and attack anything at random for the remainder of it's duration.A fan of Shadowrun's versions of Summoning, hm? interesting choice (has bad memories of berserk Spirits)
how about this, as a compromise - summon duration is tied to circle longevity - slap down a chalk circle in a turn, you've got a summons for a minute. build a stone one, and it's yours as long as you like - trick 1, you can only activate 1 circle at a time. trick 2 - stone circles are too heavy to move. So, you can activate a circle were ever, but if you aren't at the circle, good luck waiting for the summons to come find you. Gives a summoner a reliable partner, but also means they have to depend on temporaries until they get back home, if something goes wrong.
personally, I assume a summon circle, if they use them at all, are just going to be flashy graphic things that summons come out of - an animated nicety without much actual meaning. Lore-wise, they matter, but game-play-wise, they aren't any different than bringing a skelie or a dresser to life to pound an enemy

@boogis
there's more to mounted combat than just pikes. Nearly every weapon and spell could be used on a mount. Now getting the mount comfortable with your attacks.. Oh that's the secret.
yes not only spears but spear could be like anti-mount weapon, this could be for warriors but also mages could have a special spell and archers as well.
the main idea for balance what i suggest is that you will deal lot less damage on mount then on feet. so you would have to choose either you wanna keep your horse (and run away/fight) or you wanna jump on your feet and fight in full straighth. what is your oppinion? isnt it a balance which would help?
mounted combat should do more damage. it's the reward for getting a mount and learning how to fight on it. Problem will be the amount of people targeting you to demount you. And again the cost of combat mounts should be very high. if you do reduced damage while mounted then what's the point of mounted combat!
In theory, speed. but I would tend to agree, dumping damage is probably a bad idea. I'd say that a horse should reduce your chances of not being hit, by a some degree (you are a huge target, and highly visible, after all XD ), but get a damage bonus based on the speed the horse is traveling when you hit something with a melee weapon, with mounted-oriented weapons getting a bigger bonus in return for a disadvantage for using it while not mounted (yeah, that lance adds up to 100% extra damage at a full gallop, but good luck smacking anything with the tip while on the ground; that sort of deal). Non-mounted bows get a bigger miss chance when the horse is moving (so use the mounted bows while on the horse XD ), cause they are unwieldly at a canter. Mages get some small chance of spell failure without the right passives - don't bite your tongue while chanting, ya'hear? XD
ground side, certain weapons deal bonus damage to horsemen - your zanbato, your pikes, your spike traps XD things meant to kill horsemen, and most of them deal even more damage against moving horses, than standing ones (spike traps, obviously, deal none unless you move onto it, soooo XD) - same mechanic as the mount melee weapons - faster moving horse, more damage dealt. Yeah, that pike is painful, but it takes a charging horse to drive it half way through the beast, rather than just most of one lung XD

RE: Lich Transformation unlocked!
Liches are...whatever Dynamight decides they will be XD
which, in this case, means they can no longer appreciate a good meal XD (because they no longer need to eat)
Seriously, I love all the speculation we've got going on in here - I even joined in myself - but insisting a Lich has to be one way or another, rather than just speculating, or saying what you'd like to see, is going a bit far.

RE: No news?!
@meninodeouro And news up. some good stuff! Thank you @Prometheus
-
RE: No news?!
@meninodeouro Yes, those "quests" are why I was looking for it XD but I couldn't find it, and Gothix seems to have seen it, soooo
I was hopeful
-
RE: No news?!
@gothix ...I feel like an idiot asking, but where is the update? I clicked on "News" but there isn't anything new to see?
-
RE: No news?!
@prometheus I know a lot of people are clamoring for news, but most of us understand that you are incredibly busy. I see you are trying out that "news pill" idea. If you go for it, a couple sentences are all we need - don't worry about niceties XD I hope you all are healthy and well!

RE: Lich Transformation unlocked!
@boogis to expand - Human to Lich transformation is one of the really early stretch goals from the KickStarter - the one that almost happened, but we didn't quite manage it. Many KS-backers had been a bit bitter about not making the goal - like we'd let everyone down. However, because the store also feeds the total value, we recently managed to reach that stretch goal, and now Liches will be a possible path for Humanity to take, so a lot of people are feeling very good about the inclusion, whether they want to be a Lich or not.

RE: Important things in last month?
Actually, we did have one other development - skills got changed a bit. Before, the first example of the difference between a lv 1 skill and a lv 3 skill was the lv 3 did more damage. It was pointed out that this made no sense in a horizontal progression game. much harumphing and argument ensued. Devs decided that, instead of "more damage" they'd go with alternative modes.
So, now, maybe Fireball 1 is a nice damage+small AoE attacks spell that fires out in a line and blows up when it strikes something, but Fireball 2 gives up some damage in return for a moderate seeking attribute, and Fireball 3 is linear like lv 1, and a tiny bit slower, but it's AoE is a cone of the same volume as the lv 1's boom - for when you absolutely need to shotgun blast someone's squad with cosmic fire.
Point being, now we have 3 times the skills, which we can pick and choose from for maximum advantage to our playing style, instead of having the Veterans have an advantage over the newbs as a function of time played and skills in-game Master'd (as opposed to out-of-game Mastered, in that we fully understand the mechanics and have developed a style that maximizes the skills potential, which we want/like, in theory XD)

RE: [Poll] Specter for Cmod
I'm suprised the poll didn't read
- Yes
- Of Course
- Aren't they already?
- A more perfect world has never been described
- I want this more than the game

RE: Aminal Tamer as a Class
I look forward to us getting to taming, but I don't imagine we'll get more than 4 or 5 "tamer" skills, and that's not enough for a "school," as such. I'm going to guess they get grouped with the bard skills, or the rogue one, just to have a place to stick them (or, possibly psychic?) - but only in the sense that they have to stick them somewhere, not because there's any real relation.

RE: So there will be a cash shop (part 3)
@gothix I had to kill so many baby topics, because the poll system ate something. sooo maaany. Plus, there were originally 13 options, but, NOPE, poll can only handle 10 things.
poll thing has deci-numerical biased! >: C
but, no, seriously, so many format errors

So there will be a cash shop (part 3)
Okay folks, looks like the "buy once, have forever" skins were the clear favorite for what people want to see out of the cash shop. But then we started discussing exactly what to buy, and what to pay.
I figured I'd throw out a poll on "what" first, and if anything got washed out, I could skip the separate "how much" poll for that part late XD
Please select EACH sort of thing you'd consider buying, assuming you liked it and it was available at reasonable price - you have enough votes to select everything, if you'd like.I'm going to be defining a few things - "conveint" means "the resulting change conveys what the original item was" - a dagger still looks like a dagger after you apply the skin, you can tell that heavy armor is still heavy armor post-change, etc. based on the previous poll, please assume all choices are conveint.
Auras are visual effects that are around the character, but not attached to any equipment (and, possibly, only vaguely attached to the character) - you shine, you look like you are going super sayian, ghosts of the dead follow you around, Bablisis' head orbits you and laughs when you smack something, etc.
Yes, pet, weapon effect, and spell effect skins are a thing, and will almost certainly be available, based on what the KS rewards were like. still want to know how interested people are in getting them, and what forms you all are interested in.Also, this forum's poll system can take a long walk off a short pier

RE: [Poll] Venture a guess (why has pre-alpha been delayed) :)
I didn't realize that Kralith was even physically located near them, let alone could enter the offices to make coffee.
Mind BLOWN (starts paying more attention to Kralith)
Personally, I hope it's pre-alpha being fun enough to be distracting. this bodes well for the future.

RE: Crafting - Cooking
@ladyrowan That moment when: a game makes you think in ways you aren't entirely comfortable with.
From a demon perspective, it's probably natural, reasonable, and from a certain perspective, more honorable to eat a kill (as opposed to letting the corpse rot), intelligent or not.
From the beastman perspective, it's a horror and an abomination and oh gods what the actual hell. (Babilis is matter-of-factly like, "dang straight, it's actual Hell, keep up!")
There are reasons for both sides to fight. it's just been made a little clearer now. XD

RE: Crafting - Cooking
@daz I like this idea, but I've also played Mabinogi, and I know what a pain this can be XD
