Fractured will not have ganking for the simple reason that it does not have levels, and all people start with access to full stats and EQUAL maximum skill slots CAP in a skill bar.
I think it just depends on what your definition of ganking is. Ganking, to me, is ambushing someone when you have a strong advantage. If I'm playing a build that can go invisible, I can sneak up on someone fighting a mob, wait until they get low health, then finish them off. That would be a gank imo.
I do think some people are overly concerned by ganking though. On top of your point about equal armor/stats, this isn't a moba where you have to worry about fog of war. If someone isn't running invisiblity, you'll see them coming which gives you time to run away or prepare to fight.
I don't think bosses will drop loot in the traditional sense. Probably just resources like the rest of the dungeon.
With crafting being such a huge part of the game, I imagine crafting recipes will also be loot drops.
@fibs Thanks for confirming my point.
I'll be trying out a mix of melee and illlusion first.
@gothix said in Whats your favorite character Class to play on your first Character:
I guess, there is just no discussion with some people. You are a prime example and prove that point...
Fibs is by far the most toxic person on the forum. He's on my list of people to keep an eye out for when the game launches
I agree. I think with the current restrictions, we'll end up seeing guilds that want this sort of freedom splitting up the guild into "alliances" that are set up and managed outside the game through discord or something.
I like the idea but not necessarily for every build all the time. Maybe it could be something you can spec for with talents.
@gothix said in Suggestion for combat:
Also rangers wouldn't be able to take advantage of that.
You can if you're shooting someone that's running away. "Backstab" damage + a fear effect with a ranged weapon could be really good.

It also isn't intuitive in a click-to-move, wherein you don't really determine your character's orientation as opposed to just their position. I don't identify what direction you're facing as a relevant concept in MMOs in general and click-to-moves in particular
Orientation is a major factor in one of the biggest click to move games, Dota, to the extent that
would be a lot of fun.@finland said in I want to get excited but...:
Anyway I really don't get why players want to pvp in safe areas. You have many places where enjoy PvP so you should stop try to find a way to ruoin others gametime.
At least for me, I think it's a little unfair that half a planet is impossible to access when good and neutral players have unlimited access to all planets. I think the safe zones on Arboreus should have much harsher penalties, something like 80% stat nerf, you only get 5 mins before you have to leave the safe zone, but you can return (like going up for air while diving), and good players can't be executed (only knocked unconscious). That way demons still have access but 1 beastman should be able to take on 5 demons in safe zones and even if they die they're not going to lose everything.
I just really don't like the idea of such a hard restriction in a game that's otherwise extremely open, and, like Phaethonas points out, it could lead to an imbalanced economy.
In the PvP spotlight you mentioned getting flagged as a thief if you steal from other players. What's considered stealing?
Can you go into more detail about the planned survival mechanics?
The philosophy behind Fractured is very anti-grind. Considering that, do you plan to implement long term goals that players can work towards? If so, what are they?
@prometheus said in Feature Spotlight #2 - Universe, Planets and Travels:
You don't indeed, inventory in Fractured is close to that of ARPGs like Diablo or Path of Exile, thus not only limited by the weight of items, but also by physical space. That's why carts, pack animals and so on are needed, particularly when you want to be a merchant or... a carpenter
And from spotlight 5:
Strength is a measure of the raw physical power of your character, determining how hard it can hit with melee attacks, how much weight it can carry
Since Fractured has survival mechanics to add complexity to travel, I wonder how mounts will affect that. Maybe different mounts will be more or less suitable for different biomes.
Usually for open world pvp games, the minimap serves as this space since you want to block it anyway to prevent stream sniping.
@finland said in Can you be a thief?:
If you are knocked down, he said nothing, so technically you can not be looted.
That doesn't make logical sense. The fact that he didn't say anything means it's an open possibility.
Would be useless to have endurance if you can be looted without be killed.
It would make sense if your inventory could be looted, but not your equipped gear.
@finland Do you have a timestamp? Just watched it again and didn't notice anything about theft. The closest thing Prometheus says is that you drop all your equipment if you die, which doesn't go against what I said.
I kinda hope not. It feels like MMO's are becoming checklist simulators. It's even worse when progress is gated by daily/weekly resets. I miss when you could grind whatever you wanted as much as you wanted.
@finland I thought I read it in the pvp spotlight, but it doesn't say one way or the other. But it does make a distinction between thieving and murdering, and I don't think they would say that if you had to kill someone to loot them. Keep in mind, you have 2 health bars (endurance and health). You take endurance damage before you take health damage, and when you lose all endurance you become unconscious. Knocking someone unconscious isn't killing them, and I think this is where you can steal from them. If I had to guess the difference between thieving and executing/looting is that you can't steal equipped gear. The reason I'm not considering pickpocket is because it hasn't been mentioned anywhere.
