Prometheus will be busy with Gamescom this week so it might be a while still.

    • RE: Loot and Harvesting?

Skinning was kinda mentioned here as an example of ways to interact with creatures.

The majority of resources will not fit into your inventory; you'll have carry them in your hands which slows you down and puts away your weapon (and disables skills?). Auto loot wouldn't make sense with this system.

Tyros chosen being immune to Babilis' curse was mentioned in the pvp spotlight.

    • RE: This game is a potential PVE gold mine

Depending on what you want out of PvE, you might find the Arboreus safe zones boring. The devs have mentioned demons likely wouldn't find safe zones interesting even if they could enter, which makes it sound like the primary thing to do in safe zones is gathering/farming type PvE. They've also said "resource gathering goes through PvE on Tartaros much more than in the other planets. And PvE can get really hard there, given the horrors that inhabit the planet", hinting that Tartaros PvE might actually be the most interesting for PvEers. The most interesting PvE on Arboreus will likely be outside of the safe zones, in which case you'll probably have competition from non-friendly players that will need to be there for the knowledge/resources.

The devs have never brought it up, so I would assume no.

Demons can only be good if they become an angel. That might also apply to beastmen being evil.

The MMO might be something like PoE, but I think it's most likely a mobile game. There's no way they release a proper MMO that competes with WoW.

    • RE: Guild Functions

@nightcoder Demons are excluded because they can't live on Syndesia. To break it down by race:

      • Arboreus guilds can have beastmen, and maybe angels.

      • Syndesia guilds can have beastmen, humans, and angels

      • Tartartos guilds can have demons, abominations, and humans.

@nightcoder Pretty sure that was changed when they changed guilds from alignment based to planet based.

    • RE: Massive battles: will "big numbers" always win?

@fibs said in Massive battles: will "big numbers" always win?:

just temporarily turn off friendly fire protection for all members of a party if anyone in that party attacks a player

Seems more appropriate to turn it on for all guild members in the area. A guild trying to game that would just not have their members partied.

If you like this can be made complicated by only turning friendly fire protection off for the aggressor and not the defender.

Well I'm assuming war generally has to be declared first, making two guilds automatically hostile to one another (freeing them of karma consequences). Having a system to determine aggressor/defender on a fight by fight basis seems overly complicated to implement (especially when considering non-partied participants).

@fibs That's a pretty good solution for sieges, but there's still the problem of open field battles.

@therippyone The only thing we know about friendly fire is that it doesn't apply to good players against other good or neutral players, and it doesn't apply to party members; no planet specifics have been mentioned iirc

Oh yeah another feature to counter zergs is player collision. It will be impossible for zergs to have dense deathballs and will allow counterplay with chokepoints.

@grofire I don't see how that would help. The big gvg fights will take place on a guild's home planet because guilds can't conquer towns on other planets. Also your suggestion would lead to beastmen going to Syndesia and being able to kill everyone which goes against the intent of the alignment system.

      @genobee

@prometheus said in Kickstarter Update - Pledge Packs:

Some like character slots, sure. Others like the custom crest, not decided yet. Others surely not - the Lifetime VIP is a crowdfunding-only reward.

From the beginning it was said to be crowdfunding only. A lot of people misunderstood that as kickstarter only, but that's not really DS's fault.

    • RE: Massive battles: will "big numbers" always win?

The current plan for alignment puts the implementation of friendly fire in a difficult spot. As it is, good players are incapable of harming each other while neutral and evil players that aren't partied can. Leaving the system as is would result in the gvg meta on Syndesia being everyone flagging themselves as good so they don't have to worry about friendly fire.

The simplest solution is to turn on friendly fire for everyone but then that defeats the purpose of having a good alignment catered towards people that want to deal with as little pking as possible. If you make it so all guild/alliances members can't hurt each other to even it up, then why have friendly fire at all.

@zerp said in Massive battles: will "big numbers" always win?:

I am still a bit concerned about lag due to too many players acting together

SpatialOS scales server resources depending on need, so at least server side lag shouldn't be a problem. And the game seems to be aiming for fairly low specs; couple that with good optimization, and huge battles shouldn't be a problem for medium spec computers.

    • RE: Guild Functions

What we know about guilds so far:

      • Guild membership is restricted by planet (as of latest news, it may change again)
      • Guilds can own towns and territory
      • Guilds can form alliances and declare war
      • On Tartaros and Syndesia, guilds can siege towns and take them over if successful
      • Member cap starts small and increases as a guild gains territory and builds certain buildings
