    • RE: Support/Healer type builds

      @Kralith said in Support/Healer type builds:

      @Razvan Hmm i do not think healing is boring.

      I said that most people find healing boring.
      Maybe I picked my words badly. I didn't mean that healing is boring or easy. I meant that most people would rather play other roles and it's hard to find a healer. The rest of my point is better explained by Tuoni and Ostaff.

      PS:

      Healer are always the "assholes", because they always get the blame,

      Life as a tank is not much better either. Not only you get blamed just as much, but also dying cuts your pockets in games with repairs.

      @Tuoni
      For tanks in PvP it mostly depends on how aoe heavy the game is and to a lesser extend how do CCs stack.
      Dedicated healers will be a thing regardless.

    • RE: Bartle's Taxonomy and this game.

      "I didn't think I'd score high on the social scale", says the person who posts daily on the forums of an unreleased game which can be played for one week every other month on average. I wasn't surprised at the slightest to see that most people here have at least some social motivation when it comes to MMOs, but the results on the second graph are interesting. ๐Ÿ˜›

    • RE: Question about new templates for wiki

      As a side point, earlier the wiki was kind of unintuitive to navigate. Whoever added to it recently did a great job. A character creation page which explains the stats and their bonuses would be quite important for new people and easier to follow than this page.

      @Sengir
      It would make sense, but to be fair, summoning random players won't be very useful because it's very easy to exploit since you can summon somebody and your folks can gank them. After a while, people will get suspicious and reject being summoned. It could work on furries planet for angels to some extend -> you can't do a boss because you don't have enough people, so you summon an angel

    • RE: Playing with melee~ possible new meta
      • Spear nodes are not implemented yet.
      • When you compare 1h vs 2h weapons you should take into consideration enchants because 2h weapons have 4slots in total, while 1h weapons + shield have 8slots. To that, you should add the material bonus of the shield/offhand. Not to mention that shield block makes you a lot tankier.
      • There is no best overall weapon. For example, skeletons take very little pierce damage (spear, bow), but a lot of blunt damage. On the other hand, spear still has a much better clear time on goblins. I agree that this test brought much better diversity that what we previously had.
      • Hopefully, they add a significant critical bonus on superior knives or restrict the assassination school to them because at this point they are just (much) worse handaxes.

    • How do you feel about the number of towns in the current map?

      My opinion is that there are way too many towns on the map, way too close to each other and not enough farming spots. Without the ability to steal resources from towns, even on demon planet the zones far away from farming spots will be pretty much safe.

    • RE: What to expect on an "alpha state" game?

      Another reason to join the alpha is that since the community is still quite small and a lot of stuff are yet to be implemented, your feedback has more weight than on an already released game. Plus, of course, if the game reaches release you'll have a considerable edge over the newer players: you already know what to do, what works and hopefully you're part of a group with similar goals and experience.

    • Item dropped from mobs

      I know there was a lot of talk about this on the forums: some people say everything should be crafted by players, while others claimed that it's boring to never get full item drops from mobs. To my understanding, you can give offerings to gods in Fractured in order to change karma, gain a blessing, or start a divine quest. What if, instead of coins, we could donate items that go to a global item pool? Whenever a monster is killed, there's a chance they will drop one of the donated items. This way monsters can drop items from time to time, yet everything is still crafted by the players.

    • RE: Item dropped from mobs

      @GamerSeuss
      You can go around that and also include realism. For example, these items can be distributed only to some groups of mobs (humanoids, zombies, skeletons - which, at least at this point, are abundant). Then they can create thematic areas in which these items don't drop per se from mobs, but are obtained from the environment. For example, there can be an area called "the cursed battlefield", where we fight ghosts and vultures and so on, but from time to time we can find corpses, which are basically thematic chests, which can drop coins, mats, and maybe such an item from the deity donation pool.

      By the way, since all these items come from the donations pool, the full drops will be quite rare.

    • RE: YOWZA! What's YOUR favorite part of the 3d Update?

      I'm the most excited by mounts and how they help to transport goods faster than we did in the previous test.
      I'm glad that the farming system is more advanced than plant seed, wait a day, collect crops as in other games. I hope we will be able to do small scale farming on hermit plots.
      I don't really like the new death mechanics. They are better than what we had in the past, but still not very good. I don't quite understand what does the health system try to achieve and my bigest complaint about it is how people don't insta die when they are killed in pvp, which will make the zvz terribly long and boring unless a side completely steamrolls the other.

      They can make small, time-limited asteroids where only 2 people can enter (similar to Albion Hellgates, but solo).

    • RE: Int and Cha required stats? = Unbalanced?

      I like the current system.

      First, all attributes have some stats that make you think twice before dumping them: 6 dex - you are immobile, 6 int - you have fewer memory points, 6 str - you can carry very little, 6 con - you are very squishy, 6 per - no crit. You can ask the same question about all other attributes, but especially DEX.

      Second, not all abilities have the same memory cost. From my observation, big aoe with long CD are expensive, single target abilities are less expensive. Spells tend to be more expensive than physical abilities, which makes sense because INT is a primary attribute for mages. If you build a character around ganking people / single target dps / auto-attack archer, you can go with 6 INT. A typical well-rounded fighter needs about 12 INT at this moment. If INT was not tied to memory points, then it made no sense to go over 6 INT on most characters and there was a lot less variety in builds.

      Is CHA even that useful? I made a table a while back and concluded that it's good only if you can go really high on it, so basically crafters/ gatherers/ summoners/ enchanters /heavy CC/ crit builds. My dps build has 6 cha.

      PS: I don't know what is Fibs about, but with 6 INT you can still fill the bar with cheap abilities. Besides, no frontline should go 6 INT because they will get melted by mages. Tanks, self heal... ok ๐Ÿ™‚

    • RE: What does "armor" mean?

      @Accol

      It doesn't seem too powerful to me

      This skill is affected by INT. You can create a 18 INT character with a lot of (ranged) damage, armor (thanks to the buff), magic res (thanks to the buff + int bonus) and extra memory points. If you roll 6CHA and put some points in STR/STA, you become really tanky. Meanwhile, a character with medium armor cannot cast spells and has evasion/mana cost penalties.

      They could also add <...>

      That's why I said that "at this point" the mage is without any doubt the strongest class.

      The other thing you are not thinking of is that skill consumes 4 memory points and a slot on your skill bar all which are limited when building your character.

      Memory points are affected by INT. As a mage whose main stat is INT, you're going to have the most memory points anyway.

      Awesome thread.

      Found another ingredient, dropped by Goblin fire shamans in Goblin Hills:

      @Roccandil
      With the current talent tree you can solo everything* with unenchanted primitive weapons and hide armor (rags for mages).

      *with the exception of whisps for melee/archers since those are immune to physical damage

    • RE: Talents. limit of 60 points.

      Honestly, I feel 60 points is too much already.

      I mean, in my build I got +2str, +2con, +2per, +2dex, all the melee damage nodes, +50% critical damage & 5% critical chance, 2 full nodes of accuracy / evasion / mres, one node of armor + 20% armor bonus and 2 and half nodes of HP: clicky.

      I'd either lower it to around 40 points to make the decision more impactful or create a bunch of less powerful nodes near the center and move the attribute ones towards the end of the trees.

      Maybe it's a bug with shields, but you can't cast spells as long as you have a medium one in the shield slot.

    • RE: How will be decided which group takes a farming spot on Arboreus (animal planet)?

      @Nyquil44 said in How will be decided which group takes a farming spot on Arboreus (animal planet)?:

      All this stuff you are talking about are not even on the devs table yet we need to get basics in game first party features combat needs lots of polishing. Housing ability to add others on it so there isnโ€™t a million of them cluttering the world. Bunch more that are way more important that weโ€™re brought up in bugs list during last test.

      I am pointing out the possibility of a frustrating flaw in the idea of Arboreus. I'm not saying they should think of a solution now, but there should be a way to dispute farming spots at release (and preferably that solution could be implemented and tested prior to that).

    • RE: New World by Amazon - Anyone interested?

      I'm not happy that they dropped the unrestricted pvp, but I'll play it with my buddies. Even if the endgame is boring, it costs less than 3-4 nights out, so I wouldn't consider it a bad purchase.

      @Ostaff said in New World by Amazon - Anyone interested?:

      To me, solo games are Dark Souls and the like.. MMO by definition is MASS MULTIPLAYER... meaning... not solo.

      I play MMOs to play with people, I play single campaigns to play by myself ๐Ÿ™‚

      Not everyone is part of a big international community and from time to time they might log in at a dead hour when there's nothing to do if the game has zero solo content. I think having solo content is a good thing, but the rewards should not be as good as the party content. Leaving aside Arboreus, which needs a major overhaul anyway because it's clear they didn't consider griefers, it's not like solo content = single player. You will still get ganked and eventually fight other people for resources.
