Does that apply to Militia/Knowledge? If so, how?

@PeachMcD said in Ok, Bought the game after a 2 min video on youtube; was it the right choice?:

to be brutally honest, I bought in one night after more bourbon than usual.
I'm totally poor, and/but I wanted the devs to know there were players out here so sick to death of the 'freemium' model that we'd spend $75 for even a CHANCE to play a game like Fractured.
Not, I'll freely admit, my wisest financial decision.
There's a lot worse things you could have bought while drunk. This is a risk but at least you didn't pee it away on a gambling site.
An early purchase is very risky but if no one bought in at this early stage then it wouldn't exist. Unless they funded it themselves through loans etc but that's not always a good thing to do even if they could find a willing lender. That or join with a publisher that potentially ruins the game.
Thank you for taking the risk and supporting the game at a high level.
It might be in this case, but it was a very risky choice. Especially going for the most expensive pack. Legend would have allowed the same level of access with the option to upgrade. Ignoring free access that you wouldn't have known about. Too many people get burned on early access packs. For all we know the company could get linked with an asian publisher and turn it into a pay to win pile of crap. That happened with a game I loved called City of Steam. Beta was great but they partnered with an asian publisher and released version was terrible and closed down. Such a waste.

@Psymantis Well then Arboreus might just be the planet for you: uncontested PvM goodness without any PKers.
But the boss dificulty isn't really risk per se. I was talking about how open world PvP diversifies the gameplay and the social aspect of doing content.
Oh yes, Arboreus is my planned home. I'd like to enjoy the human planet unmolested as well which is possible at the moment as long as I don't join a militia. I'd create a character on the demon planet just to have a look around.
There's a social aspect without PvP: people can work together to defeat tough content etc. You like to add the thrill of other players being an additional threat. I don't, but I'm not dismissing anyone who does. This game will allow us both to play the way we want as long as people with opposing playstyles don't try to force that playstyle on others.
I'd reduce griefing by making the mobs give loot to any who attack them on the beast planet, miltia-based on the human planet and individuals for the demon planet. I'd turn off collision between players on the beast planet and maybe between members within a militia/independants.
...if you could kill that cool boss and take it's cool drop safely without any risk...
The risk should be from whether you can take the boss itself. Not another player waiting to gank you and steal your effort. That's not interesting or fun to me. I do understand how it might be for some but it's rather presumptuous to speak for everyone.
The exception is on the demon planet or if you've willingly joined an opposing militia on the human planet.

Not all pvp is the same. There is a huge difference between wars/tournaments/duels and ganking/ambushing.
An optional extra for those who want it versus being unable to leave a safe zone without being ganked. It's the forced PvP I hate. I don't care how much PvP options exist as long as they're completely optional.
There's the demon planet for those who want unrestricted PvP and the human planet for semi-restricted PvP. Let's keep all* non-consensual PvP off the beast planet and solve any economic (or other) problems a different way please.
*maybe if a demon appears a beastman could attack them and trigger PvP but with no looting.

@Prometheus To be sure: does this mean that not being part of a militia, will keep you safe from other people attacking you at random?
Yes
Well that's a relief.
