    • RE: update lag spikes

Hi @CoachFubar @Zamuel, the servers have never been in EU, always US East. We're experiencing a bug which is causing DDOS-like conditions, with tens of thousands of commands (packets/requests) being sent each second. Servers are still stable, which is great, but it obviously causes all commands to be processed more slowly, hence the latency.

Due to the recent backend engine update, we've lost the possibility to breakdown commands by type. This will be re-implemented in a later update, but for now we're left without means to figure out what is causing this. The issue comes back soon after a restart. We'll keep investigating, but I'm not sure we'll be able to fix it by the end of the alpha weekend. Apologies 😞

    • Bounty Hunting & Jails - Official Feedback Thread

      Hi all,

this is the official thread to discuss the Bounty Hunting & Jailing system.

You can bring your own point of view as a PvP player (PK or not) and/or as a PvE player, but please do not degenerate this discussion into the usual "you're a griefer" / "you're a carebear" quarrel. This thread has been opened to discuss a specific system, not to discuss PvP in MMOs in general. This is also not a place for bickering between enemy PvP guilds.

Before posting, please read the following:

      • Any system that generates gold out of nowhere is exploitable with a friend (inb4 the suggestion "let's make the bounty hunter gain money and the criminal lose nothing").
      • We don't have the resources to develop super-sophisticated systems. The team is small and the core features to implement many! 🙂
      • Syndesia is a lawful planet. The criminal system exists to make player killing against new players, new characters that are just gaining knowledge, and so on extremely inconvenient, while keeping high-level hostile behavior possible, but risky. If you want a place with no consequences, Tartaros will be the planet for you!

Let us hear you opinion and let's get to the best system possible as quickly as we can!

      Best,
      Jacopo

gibt es auch deutschsprachige Moderatoren, oder sind alle nur in englisch kontaktierbar?
Ist ja eine italienische Entwicklerfirma, richtig?

Hi @Lohen  Yes, Dynamight Studios is an Italian company. We don't have a German-speaking community manager yet, but there will be one eventually for sure, hopefully in the summer already!

    • Patch Log - v.a.2.5.0f + Jail System Info

Signing up as a bounty hunter at a jail allows a Good character to punish crime and potentially make good money at the same time.

      When a character is jailed:

      • Jail time ranges from 24h to 48h according to the criminal's Karma (0 to -10,000).
      • Bail value ranges from 2,000 gold to 6,000 gold according to the criminal's Karma (0 to -10,000). Paying bail triggers instant jail release.

A jailed character can bail itself out. Money is withdrawn from its Global Gold Wallet (available at the bank in all cities that have researched it and starting areas). Other players can pay a prisoner's bail too by interacting with the board outside of the jail.

If a bail is paid, half of it goes to the city, the other half goes to the bounty hunter.

      Bug Fixes

      • Fixed a bug that would prevent players jailed in starting areas from being able to click the shackles button to release themselves.
      • The same bug was preventing everyone from bailing jailed players out.
      • Fixed a bug that would allow Evil players to get their Karma above 0 by doing PvE.
      • The last bug was causing all sorts of bugged bail values too.

Welcome to the community @RolanStorm ! We're going to release more detailed info on all game features in the upcoming dev journals - and that includes the knowledge system as well, of course. Stay tuned and make sure your email is verified!

Thank you for the feedback @munch and apologies to everyone who participated in that bugfest of a siege 😞

We definitely have to make some improvements to the siege system, including respawning and the banner destruction mechanic as a whole. We're going to come up with something before the start of the next test 🙂

@hooby thanks for the report, we've added all the inconsistencies to our bug backlog and it's all going to be fixed by the start of the next test - or maybe even the next patch on Monday 🙂

@GamerSeuss I understand you mean well, but please don't be so negative with people posting bugs that aren't "critical" - I noticed you've done that often during this test. Every bug report is precious, even if it's just some wrong texts!

      @Sepoy said in First Impressions:

As a "this is how you progress in Fractured" tutorial, it was quite poor. I wondered off into the wilderness only to flee for my life from encounter to encounter learning just how powerless a whelp I truly am. The problem is, I have absolutely no idea how to become more powerful.

Thanks for the feedback Sepoy. The game is indeed very much lacking when it comes to telling you what to do after the tutorial is over. Most new players feel lost like you because they don't know how character progression works in practice, even though you are taught how to learn new abilities in the tutorial. We've got a long way to go and we're going to improve on that before the start of the next test 🙂

    • RE: Town Issues/Discrepancies & Bugs

Hi @Junkie @OlivePit, a reply to the issues you brought up:

      • Something went wrong with those last 3 Arboreus houses in the list for sure. It's not only prestige, there are more issues there. We are investigating and we're going to have them fixed in the next patch.
      • Terra cities do require less space given that you don't need the whole military side. Overall you should be able to get enough prestige to reach rank 15 easily. I can see your city indeed has enough for rank 14 and you have only a little missing for rank 15.
      • Farming plots snap in a different way indeed. They do so everywhere though, not only on Terra. As @OlivePit pointed out, this is done to have some walking space between each plot, but not as large as that between buildings.
      • We are studying a solution for the abandoned private parcels issue. We agree that governors should be able to evict unwanted citizens in some way. Hopefully we can get this live in the next patch too.
      • The occupied carpenter space is a mystery. There's no more carpenter entity there, and there has been one server restart already since we fixed the issue, so any leftover object in the server should be gone. This requires more investigation - we'll get to it ASAP, please have a bit more patience 😞

I know the player cities will be available for the next test, but will the dock portals be available in the upcoming alpha test session too? Or will it just be basic city management functions for now?

We'll try to get docks in, but it's unlikely we'll manage to, we are running a bit late with the implementation of player cities as a whole!

    • RE: Why will the control be based on a mouse?

@scellow as pointed out above, the games you mentioned, including ROTMG, have 8-direction movement. That's really the only type of movement possible with WASD in a top-down game, but for us, it would be way too limiting. Even if we implemented WASD to please a few players, we would just put those players at a disadvantage compared to those using click-to-move.

That being said, I think that you lack of appreciation for click-to-move might be due to the fact you associate it with pathfinding, auto-follow and auto-attack. This will not be the case for Fractured: pathfinding exists, but it's limited (on purpose), most of the time you will hold down the mouse button to move because you'll be busy dodging and positioning. Auto-attacking and auto-follow don't exist at all.

Rest assure, combat will be both tactical and hectic, you will love it "even" with click-to-move! 🙂

    • RE: Building your on Cities

@Rofus it's not a matter of technology but of time required to develop a more flexible system - which is what we're aiming at!

@Kellock93 @Scylurus @Tyrrh @Alta2215 we'll use a modular building system. If I really have to compare it to other games, Kellock, I can say it will be definitely closer to ARK and Rust than to Minecraft, since our world won't be made of "blocks".

@Siltoruz you're wrong eheh. It will be all in-game, no external editors!

@esher said in Fractured Sprint 12 Recap (Dec 13, 2017):

I have a question, why not doing the weapons in low-poly ? I suppose it is more realistic in high-poly, but does it makes the game more heavy ?

Weapons are quite low-poly indeed. The final version has the same numbers of polygons than the low-poly part you see in the image. It looks like it has a lot thanks to normal mapping.

@deity said in Fractured Sprint 12 Recap (Dec 13, 2017):

there's gunpowder but people use bows instead of guns? makes you think.

Gunpowder and the weapons that use it are hard to craft. Plus, the two things are not mutually exclusive anyway - they've been used together throughout history

@Prometheus what happens, if our knowledge about torches is too weak, do we burn accidentially the woods down?

Hmm nope 😄 Everyone has a good innate knowledge about torches 😉

@logain said in Fractured Content Pills - Week 43, 2018:

Is the amount of visible light going to have in game effects (e.g. influence aiming with ranged weapons), or is that for 'players convenience'?

No other effects planned as of today 🙂

@jairone said in Fractured Content Pills - Week 43, 2018:

@vortech So long as they find a method to keep people from altering the night brightness in various ways, sure. However, experience with recent efforts toward really dark nights in PvP games has shown that to be... tough at best.

Fractured will ship with a strong anti-cheat system, but we share your concerns, we'll see how it plays out in Alpha.

@pushedx said in Fractured Content Pills - Week 43, 2018:
