    • Kickstarter Survey

      Not sure if someone has already posted about this, but the Kickstarter survey is out for linking a pledge to the website.

      As an aside, safe wishes for everyone in the Genoa bridge tragedy. Hopefully the team is unaffected! I know many were on travel.

    • RE: Will there be fast traveling?

      @Jetah

      I think it's a good compromise. People don't like walking simulators, and there have been memes made about them 😜

      The faster you can group up with friends, the better. It means people are more likely to log on even if they just have a few minutes to spare. More people logged on, a more lively universe, a better experience.

      Trade, resource gathering, and so forth all require walking still. You can't mine, and then teleport to a trade location. I'm sure it will be balanced well.

      Just my 2c

    • RE: curious on thoughts for game

      @zidroc
      Not to derail it too much, but I'm not so sure. I do still follow SC development, and it seems like they've completely scaled back what they are planning for "release". No longer will release require 100 systems, and absolutely everything implemented.

      Will people probably be disappointed in the release? Most definitely. But once again, the only reason I'm not playing SC right now... is the fact that there isn't any permanent progression in the game.

      It's kind of weird how progression matters so much to me 😜

    • RE: Game controller stuff

      @owlsanegaming

      It's likely there will not be official gamepad support as I believe it is a point and click scenario.

      However, you may be interested in using Re-WASD. It's a pretty great piece of software that allows you to re-map everything on a controller to mouse and keyboard inputs. (Even the paddles on an Elite controller).

      I imagine the control scheme for Fractured will be pretty similar to PoE (which claims to be controller-unfriendly). I play PoE every now and then with a controller. It's not as efficient as M/kb... but it works. However, I am of the mind that a controller will be more adaptive to Fractured than PoE due to the ability to "click and hold" for movement.

      What can I say, I like lounging away on my couch 😜

    • RE: Discuss how to get more people engaged

      This may be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t think now is the best time for a huge push. There are a few crowdfunded/small studio games that I am following... and I’ll just note one important aspect of one of them.

      In Dual Universe there are packs that give access to DU in various stages (much like Fractured). Unfortunately, their pre-alpha basically became the alpha and we’ve been in this “pre-alpha but those who have access to alpha have access to pre-alpha” state for about half a year. We just recently hit the true alpha.

      Now the problem arises when people assume they will be getting access to betas and whatnot relatively soon. It’s no fault of the developers, but as time moves on those people lose interest. Sure, a consolidated outreach could raise some revenue... but it could also be detrimental long term. The general section of their forums is relatively dead, unfortunately. I guess, the point being that we don’t know how long the alpha (or any phase) will last.

      The best time for a true push should be when there is a strong backbone “tier 0” (as star citizen devs call it) of all the game loops.

      As for getting people involved currently, I think it’s best to recruit friends and acquaintances that you know have patience and would be interested in actually following the development.

    • RE: Will Fractured upgrade on what Albion Online did

      @Gothix

      What direct benefits can a player get by buying gold that a player in the game can not achieve? Just curious.

      If you look at any game with subscription tokens that are trade-able, you will notice that the more aged players will often purchase premium time with in game means. This is because gold is far easier to obtain than the monetary equivalent. Purchasing gold is inherently inefficient late game, in every single game I’ve played. UNLESS you have gold farmers and buy it from them.

      This includes EVE, Wildstar, and Runescape. All of these implemented such a system without being pay to win. In fact, it gave a method for players to obtain premium by in game means, completely eliminating pay to win.

      Having such a system actually attracts players as well. Some people won’t play a game where you can’t get the advantages of a paying player through in game means (this includes premium).

      Although we might lose you, we will also gain other players as well as increased revenue from those players. Even if they aren’t directly purchasing premium. Neither of us knows which is greater, but I honestly don’t think people worry too much about in game subscription tokens for the most part. I’d assume you’re in the minority, but I could be wrong. I also always think the “I won’t play if X” is a pretty weak argument.

      Anywho, I don’t really have a stake in the fight. Thankfully there’s an unlimited premium option at the moment. I probably wouldn’t play Fractured if I couldn’t buy premium through in game means to be honest. “Won’t play with x” argument, I know 😉

      Edit:
      Also, you may not have started it. But you definitely poked it with a big ol’ stick haha 😛

      I’m most excited for the dungeons/labyrinth mechanics that they’ll come up with. Procedural dungeons, if done well... can really help accentuate the game.

      I'm his customer & I'm far more deadly.

      lets keep death threats and person harm out of this.

      Did you seriously take that as a legitimate threat haha? I think he was being facetious

      As in customers can tank a project faster than a manager can. Which, is actually pretty accurate... But not when it's a singular customer. Unfortunately mob mentality usually favores the "white knights" of a project until it's too late. I think criticism should always be welcomed, no team is perfect. DS is no exception, let's get back to those community pill updates yeah?

      Not saying that is what is going on here, but just my observation from other projects

      There are no traditional raids in this game. Everything is open world AFAIK. Need another player for your raid? Tell them to haul their butt to your location 😉

      Currently looking more into it of course, doesn’t look like the same devs though unfortunately.

      Yep, agreed whole heartedly. Guilds should not get in game advantages just for hitting metrics. However, cosmetics signifying those metrics is a good way to show off for a guild 🙂

    • RE: Pledge Packs Are Going... With A Sale!

      Although not too perturbed, I do have to wonder who thought this was a fair idea whatsoever. Seems rather strange that putting money up front, where the project had less of a foundation.... bah, I won't even go into it.

      I just hope it's not foreshadowing of similar tactics to come.

      To clarify:
      The money isn't an issue for me, it's the idea of it. I obviously put money forward for a vision, but it's tactics like these that I absolutely abhor. Such a shame, I suppose a company can't be perfect.

      @Jetah
      From what I could find, there was one other main thread created in August 2018. If this topic has been brought up a total of 2 times... I think we're good lol

      Besides, some new points were brought up here. If everything could ONLY be discussed once, things would not progress very much. The dynamic of the game changes over time, there's nothing wrong with bringing up a topic to re-iterate on it.

      Just my 2c.

      Now, if there's a thread on this topic from 2 weeks ago... maybe that would be a different story.

      Unity conducted a low blow. Improbable hit back... even harder. Since they had better standing in the issue

    • RE: curious on thoughts for game

      I'm curious how they will handle progress in the form of knowledge. Having no skills is an interesting concept, but I also need to feel accomplishment and progress in a game to stay.

      Should mention, I'm largely a solo player with a small group of friends. Owning land and conquering territory with a bunch of meat shields isn't really emergent gameplay for me.

      This is largely a game I hope to follow while I wait 10 years for Star Citizen and Dual Universe lol.
