I can't even imagine riding a gorilla, tbh. They are intelligent beings like dolphins. Unless it offered me a ride, I would never.

I'll probably keep my mount as a companion and just not ride her unless under duress. I'd imagine Wolflings will have decent stamina and speed on foot. Or I might come up with a backstory that would make her conveying me believable. I just wanted to raise this as a question cuz it's a funny mental image to see a wolf riding a wolf.

    • RE: [Poll] City Reputation System

I chose the 'I dunno' option because my desire for this feature would vary greatly depending on how this idea got implemented.

Done well, this would add a LOT to the game for me, and I truly appreciate @Gothix raising the suggestion 👍 👍 👍
But @Jetah's concern about how this would be done w/o grind is well-founded. Not impossible to avoid, but an important proviso.

Defining the word 'grind' so we all know what we're avoiding is an important first step. For some, any interaction that doesn't result in a PvP victory or loot acquisition is 'grind' by definition. Those folks will be impatient about gathering crafting mats, while for someone else who enjoys crafting, gathering is a feature, not a bug. That discussion will probably require a separate thread tho 😉

    • Mount conundrum....

      Re: Mounts?

I'm thrilled to have achieved Foundation level 35, which gives me a way cool feral wolf mount 🐺 🥂 🍾
The tricky part is that I'd planned for my first/main PC to be a Wolfling 😒 so riding a wolf around will require some explaining. Wonder whether there's a chance I could trade that mount for a more credible one, in-game.

Any chance 'mount swaps' will be a thing? Or should I plan to save my wolf mount for the human PC when/if I get around to that?

    • RE: When is the Knowledge System being tested?

I know zero about coding, but it seems intuitive to me that before you can program the effects of a spell or other form of knowledge upon any part (or all) of the game environment you'd want to have the game environment pretty much locked down.

It's a hassle to need to tweak an effect on an npc mob; it's another order of self-abuse altogether to have to re-do an npc mob AND every piece of knowledge potentially linked to that mob. 😖 😤 😭

    • RE: Alpha 2

what I'd hope the devs with avoid is the b.s. seen in some games in the 'freemium' sphere: launching the game as an 'open beta' that never quite stops being a beta so gives devs seemingly endless cover for bugs & glitches. DisruptorBeam came in for a lot of forum criticism for this transparent charade. I've seen other games I didn't play get called out for it in reviews that warned me away....

    • RE: See you on the battlefield

Hi & welcome to @TheSlyFawkes! @Yitra's reply above is important info - if you are hoping to create a PC who is a wolf, you'll have a long road to Tartarus, since the Udoadra are generally good or neutral Arborean beastlings, not Tartaran demons.

The devs are creating a way for generally good creatures to become evil, but that will be very challenging for a first pc in this game. If your main game interest is PvP, I'd recommend starting with a pc from one of the demonic races (see https://fractured.gamepedia.com/Category:Demons)

If you'd like to start out a Wolf-kin PC, you're very welcome to join my guild, The Beastling Pack. Link is in sig. 🖖

    • RE: ETA on developer forum?

@Eurav said in ETA on developer forum?:

@Specter said in ETA on developer forum?:

Prometheus wants to add the developer forum but he's so busy right now he's unable to make time for it. In the meanwhile, maybe we can discuss what you would like to see in this developer forum. Many questions are already being answered in the other parts of the forum by Znirf and me, and updates are already being posted in the Fractured news section. What could the devs do to make this exclusive section unique and valuable to backers like you?

I actually wondered about that as well. Questions are already answered in this public Forum / in the Discord, and there is already the Monthly Dev Q&A as an upcoming System to improve that even further.>
New content is being publicly announced via the Content Pills and other announcements, so what you could do is give an insight on the process of making the content / game.

So it seems that the devs included something in their Exclusive Expensive Package w/o having a very clear sense of what that thing was going to be 👅 😆 Funny yoomons!

Well-played to ask the folks who bought the thing what they'd LIKE for it to be! 😎 👍

I didn't buy the Exclusive Expensive Package - I'm just following this thread out of prurient interest. @deusex2 makes an excellent point: if we wanna start playing this game soonest, asking the devs to add a weekly thing to their schedule isn't gonna help that happen faster.

One suggestion that might not be too hard to implement is borrowed from a game called Star Trek Timelines by DisruptorBeam: a weekly vid of 2-5 min length done by a rotation of the devs at work on the game. The weekly dev vid was a window into that particular person's work & process - they could choose one thing they're really proud of or want backer feedback on.

When STT was in development, those vids were VERY popular and widely discussed. They gave each of the dev team a space to 'shine' (but also a space that interested persons could make comments on). If a member of the dev team only had to do one every couple of months, it wouldn't eat into their daily biz in any significant way, but the potential for 'visibility' of any task they decide on could create a positive incentive to do work worthy of sharing.

Perhaps the Expensive Exclusive package might have access to those videos first, and the rest of us plebes wait a month or so to view and comment on them? What do y'all think? Do-able?

    • RE: ETA on developer forum?

@Eurav said in ETA on developer forum?:

I mean, they already "promised" it in April....

The timeline for development is years-long, and players who have ponied up $$ have already agreed to be patient about delays, but the thing that will kill the trust those early investors have is if promises are forgotten.

Delays are to be expected - no reasonable person will walk away fuming if things don't happen according to a strict timeline. What would make a reasonable person lose trust is if a promise that has been made gets denied ("We never said that" when there's a link to you saying that) or questions about a promise get ignored. 🙉 🙉 🙉

I didn't sign on at that level so I'm just waiting on the beta, but folks who have donated based on the expectation of a developers' forum that was meant to have happened by now deserve some word from devs re ETA.

    • RE: NPC Age

I love the idea of NPCs gaining strength, wisdom, tactical skill, and loot as they age... to a point, and then beginning to feel time's effects on their physical abilities. Very realistic and adds to immersive experience.

In most stories, an ancient dragon, village shaman, or elemental/demon is more formidable & cunning than their youthful counterparts, even if they are less physically strong.

Different species of NPC would begin to experience decrepitude at different ages, of course. Elementals and golems, I'd imagine, might take centuries to reach their declining years (and decline very slowly) while a village shaman would have a more human lifespan and range of ability. Roll die-20 for Alzheimer's check? 😜

    • RE: Sparring/Duels

The goblins, wolves, and elementals I've seen in content pills will all take real skill and strength to defeat, so it makes sense that even a pacifist Arborean would need to be able to defend themselves against attack in a competent way. The denizens of Tartarus might think of them as weak, but if they actually ARE weak, the game is badly flawed.

I'm envisioning a Holy Precinct (probably in Syndesia) in which champions from every race can represent their god in a ritual battle against the champions of other deities. That way, a beastling who has zero interest in killing or hurting another creature for sport might find some purpose a duel and see how well their PvE skills translate.

The duel itself would be considered an offering to the PC's patron deity, whether they win or lose the duel. Not sure what the reward system is for deity offerings at temples/shrines, but those could easily be applied.

Does that sound fun to anyone else? It sure sounds fun to me, and I'm about as PvE as a grrrrl gets.

    • RE: Fractured Content Pills - Week 31, 2019

Love the look of all of these - esp the elemental and the goblin's armor.

At the risk of starting another doodoostorm, thanks to the devs for making the female mage's somotype that of a woman of valor and substance rather than a barbie doll. She and the male mage look equally formidable and wise. Grazie mille!

    • RE: Hello! was is bonus of guilds

Welcome @RossGimblett ! When I saw your question, I thought it would be a simple matter of finding the post 'everything we know so far' and reposting the 'Guild' section. But I couldn't see a guild section 😲
I checked the Wiki for a description of guild perks/mechanics, but I couldn't see a description of those things. 🤔

CONGRATS on giving those wiki-artists and the awesome d00d who keeps that 'everything we know so far' post updated something fun to do! I'll look forward to learning all about Guilds soon 🤞

Meanwhile, one thing I do know is that there are guild towns and 'free' towns. In Guild towns, the guilds make the rules and the leader of the guild is the Governor of the town. In 'free' towns, the Governor is elected by the residents and there is a more complex rule-making system.

So there's at least one bonus of starting a guild: the possibility of tailoring a town to suit yourself and your guildmates.

If I got any of this wrong, I know someone will correct me quickly. I hope they'll correct me kindly ;^) The link to 'everything we know so far: https://forum.fracturedmmo.com/topic/1612/a-compilation-of-everything-we-know-about-fractured/72

    • RE: Becoming an angel

There are those for whom the Role Play aspect is as important as any specific encounter, so backstory would be a thing for those ppl. I love RPG, but I'm doubtful that there will be many who stay 'in character' while they play Fractured.

I haven't done the research to grok how a PC that had clawed its way from Demonic to Angelic would differ in 'everyday game chances/experience' from a PC who started out Lawful Good and stayed that way, but maybe someone will unpack that for us...? 🤞

    • RE: Sparring/Duels

While I'm not dead set against this idea, it does seem to beg the question, "why mess with a planet that's set up for cooperative building and PvE players when there are two other planets that folks who like to duel can play on?"

Players who consider dueling with one another to be an essential part of their gaming fun can find that among the Humans and the Demons, right?

    • RE: Races and playstyles

@Bryserker - it's important to know that a player who has bought this game will be able to create more than one PC. My understanding is that each basic account is allowed 3 player characters. So it's not as though you have to make an ultimate choice re playstyles...

My personal plan is to begin with an Arboreal PC, bc I enjoy cooperative, building, and PvE stuff most, but I already know I'll want to have a Human PC eventually, since those have more latitude and will probably have a larger player base. Hoping that watching the Human culture/guild politics develop while I grow my Beastling will ensure that I don't make too many rookie errors where they'd be far more costly than in a PvE setting.

    • RE: About VIP in-game purchase

Gothix laid it out pretty clearly. The main reason many of us are subscribers is that the devs for Fractured have given us a game that will allow everyone to play on equal footing whether they pay extra or not.

There are SO MANY freemium games to play, @spacema3 - if that's what you're seeking, I know you'll find a nice one.
