So, I looked up the 4 types out of curiousity, and to save others the time they are: Combat, Explorer, Scientist, and Settler. I guess any of those 'Paths' might accommodate a completionist player that needed to finish every single part of their chosen path... but wouldn't a real completionist need to finish ALL THE PATHS?

@Sacd - Alpha 2 is expected by year's end. Many of us are trying to make the time pass more quickly by HAVING FUN reading and responding to forum posts, and racking Foundation Points.

I'd be ok with 1 new cosmetic item a year. They can put a full armor set (as an example) over 500 levels. IE Boots, Pants, Chest, Gloves, Shoulders and Helm at every 100 levels. Mounts, pets, titles, skins can be recolored but be exclusive to the Foundation.

I wanna second this. I can also see a way around the objection @Gothix rightly raises to proliferating meaningless titles.

I'm looking through the lens of the Game of Thrones - Ascent alliance vs alliance cycles, which each had a distinctive name, icon, and set of rewards/titles that players competed to earn. By the time the game ended <deep mourning still going on> I had racked up a selection of titles from which to choose - and I was proud of each of them... e.g. Golden Viper, Royal Executioner, Frozen Hammer, Eagle's Bounty .

There were other titles that players earned by longevity (Elder, for those who had been playing for over 5 years, was esp respected) or in-game prowess. Maybe players who earned x# of Foundation titles in a row by dint of solid, constructive forum participation would reap the coveted Master of Contributions title!

@Specter ooooh! I'd love to have some vid or photos of the Milan event. I had noticed the new Italian forum denizens and wondered what had brought them all at once. Thanks for giving us what you could! The responsiveness of this team is truly impressive.

I have a very mixed metaphor mental image: the devs with their noses to the grindstone trying to get the next test up without any more delay than necessary, while we all are chasing our tails looking for something new to talk about in here.

I play Rise of Kingdoms on my cellphone, and there's a quick 3d party integrity verification that pops up at random intervals. Players have 10 minutes to do a simple anti-bot task (so if you're in the middle of a fight or complicated spell it will wait while you finish). Each time you complete the task you get a (very) small reward of resources.

Not going to plug that particular 3d party, just want to say that game integrity can rely on inobtrusive anti-hack/bot/cheat programs that don't require ccard info or any personal player info. I'm guessing that our devs will have no trouble finding one.

I'm also guessing that the hackers will consider it a personal challenge to work around whatever the devs put in, but that the horizontal progression system & buy-to-play system (instead of P2W) will be less attractive to those sorts. They like a game with lots of frangible rewards they can sell for personal gain.

@LilCassiopeia no doodoo, sis! I'm thanking the RNG goddesses for my Emissaryness, while also respecting the minor demons delaying the next Alpha long enough to let game-related conversations peter out (narrowing the field).

definitely want to second this emotion. Nothing against anime (or Tolkien) per se, but with a world full of so many cultures to mine for tropes, hanging ten on the anime wave (or previous nordic-heavy fantasy realms) doesn't feature our devs' creativity the way adding the coolest costumes/weapons/mythos from less 'mined' areas would.

Persian sounds fun - so do Aztec & Ibo, Mauri & Tlingit.
Creating a fantasy space is one place that cultural appropriations can be truly constructive moves (c.f., N.K. Jemison's Hugo-winning spins of pan-African mythos)

Devs would be foolish not to have some kind of system in place. Hackers, of course, are gonna hack... but I pray that the consequences for being caught exploiting/hacking/bot/cheating are immediate loss of game privileges, no matter how much $$ a player has invested.
