    • RE: Kinda wish Reddit was used more than these forums.

I get it - we all have our preferred ways to get and share info, and Reddit(tm) is yours. But given that how most folks want to actually spend their time (once things are up and running) is playing the game, it just cuts into gaming time to multiply platforms and ask people to keep up with all of them.

I'm currently playing a mobile game called Rise of Kingdoms(tm). There's a discord(tm) server for the game that I find useful for answering questions, and some alliances I've been in have created alliance servers & used their voice channels to coordinate war activities. That can be helpful. But my last alliance also had a very active Facebook(tm) page & chat channel - those of us who want to get away from fb were disadvantaged severely. I ended up finding another alliance. Some alliances also have a Reddit(tm) page/forum/thingee. 😰 😴 As some of my friends might say, "Ain't nobody got time for all that!"

@Yitra made a good suggestion: if Reddit(tm) is your jam, @Orich, nobody's stopping you setting something up for like-minded Fractured-folk. I doubt you'll see me there, but lots of things have happened in this world that I'd never have predicted...

    • RE: Hi to everyone here

@jasminerain hello! Glad you decided to give this one a try. It does promise to be different from lots of the games out there.

I'm wondering, when you say you've never been an MMO fan, what things bugged you or turned you off? And what about Fractured made you decide to take a chance? I'm thinking that folks who aren't normally into MMOs will find Fractured's multi-valent game options more attractive, and that your input will help the devs market their baby, so feel free to reply at length...

Meanwhile, WELCOME! If you enjoy player vs environment challenges, consider joining my Guild - the plan is to be guides/guards for hire to off-worlders visiting Arboreus.

    • RE: Is there a specific date for Alpha 2 testing to start?

      @Znirf posted:

Right now the only thing that we can say is that it will be in mid-November. As soon as we know something we will publish an announcement in the forum!

Thanks for the ballpark anyway - I wanna remind the Italian dev team ( @Prometheus et al) that in the US, the Thanksgiving holiday this year will be November 28th - so that whole weekend will see a big %age of US customers traveling & spending time w/family.

It's not a holiday for most of the world, but for the US it's a major weekend off; whether or not people go eat at gramma's, they often plan parties or trips that would make long gaming sessions problematic. There's also a growing Black Friday Shopping Frenzy on the day after Thanksgiving - people camp out overnight to get 'hot deals' at major retailers. It's ridiculous but it's a thing.

Scheduling any testing to conflict w those 'traditional' American activities will skew your results/demographics. Just a heads-up FYI cuz I don't expect European folks to know about our tribal habits 😉

I haven't been able to make daily posts - I don't log in just to post something on the daily thread for points (nothing against that... it's just not my game). I'm making an effort to check in regularly to read new posts and make substantive, thoughtful responses. I'm really thankful that the devs have built a way to reward every level kind of engagement.

    • RE: Critical strikes

Thanks, @Znirf for the easy breakdown on how crits work. I'm one of those people for whom game mechanics are almost never intuitive. I know that some folks find them simple to grok, but I need to have everything spelled out.

This community is awesome for that! I really appreciate y'all! 🥇 🥇 🥇

    • RE: Human passives

Sounds like humans have an advantage that's not a 'passive' buff of any sort, but a latitude - a breadth of available options unavailable to pc's native to Tartarus or Arboreus. I'd say that's plenty fair, and an interesting choice.

I'm looking forward to developing a human pc once my Beastling is solid and I know what mistakes I want to avoid 😉

@Gibbx said in Optimistic, but Hesitant:

@FrostyWimbly So far this game has given every signal that optimism is warranted. That being said nothing is without risk. Personally Fractured is offering everything I am looking for in a game. When I decided to back if financially I risked nothing more than I was willing to loose. I have thrown a lot of time into the community, but have enjoyed that very much. The community has already provided my initial investment's worth. I believe the dev's will put out a solid product. it doesn't have to be 'great' just a nice solid game making good on their premise. This is a good community and I am looking forward to adventuring with them!

      First: I want to ditto exactly what @Gibbx said. ☝ 👍 ☝

I don't have a lot of $$ to plow into gaming, so I've played LOTS of 'freemium' games that ding you endlessly w commercials and micro-transactions, only to be dominated by the P2W whalemonsters. I'm trying a new thing here - paying up front for the whole game, with a level field and lots of room for variety and creativity.

It's your money, @FrostyWimbly. Feel free to lurk and get to know this community, if that will help you decide. We'll be happy to welcome you, whenever you take the plunge!

      @Yitra said in Healing:

Here I just gathered the skill/spells from alpha 1 google sheet

This is truly helpful, @Yitra! Saved for reference. Thank you!
Fractured may not end up being a game where you need the 'trinity' to deal with problems, but different play-styles will be drawn to different types of knowledge.

I play a mobile game [Rise of Kingdoms(tm)] where a lot of players share 'talent trees' for the commanders as though that's the only possible best build for every player's game. I respect the time players have put into experimentation to see what tree works for them, and I totally understand anyone not wanting to put in that time (I siure don't! I'm busy playing!). Still, I do my commanders my own way, because my playing style is way different from most folks who are focused on PvP.

I'm really grateful for the chance to build a PC in Fractured that's completely mine, suited to the game I like to play. Having so many different skills/spells/abilities to choose from is a little mind-boggling, tbh, but it's gonna be fun to mess around until my little beastling is as badass as my vision of her.

    • RE: Healing

Great question! I assumed that it would be easy to find the answer btw the wiki and @Vengu 's amazing service, 2 'Compilation of Everything' threads. Was gonna copy/paste here for you. But couldn't find what you are specifically looking for. On the wiki I found a Word of Power spell that can heal a critter. The compendium talks about combat but I couldn't find anything specific about healing. Tagging Vengu in case they can enlighten us.

Looking forward to learning the answer myself! 🤔 Glad you asked this!! 🖖

    • RE: Where is the news of the next test phase...

@Pluto - the default to freedom of speech is important; I want to put that up front.

At the same time, there's a large and growing social element that takes advantage of that default to push boundaries of discourse away from civility and human decency. They like to think of themselves as 'mavericks' and 'rebels' as they verbally abuse people and get away with it, tell lies and get away with it, use hate speech and get away with it. Then they use the enlarged boundaries to actually, physically, abuse people and foment violence against marginalized communities.

These fascists & trolls are beneath contempt, so a sane person usually tries to ignore them, but giving them latitude only emboldens them to push their nastiness farther. I, personally, am sick to death of being tolerant of intolerance. People like The Entitled Paying Customer are a sort I am happy to disabuse of their notions of impunity. Being an asshat has consequences, and it should.

The usual next move for persons of this sort is to adopt the position of 'victimized minority voice'. If these trolls ever spent even two days as a member of an actually victimized minority, it would suit me fine. Let's put their children in cages and see how they like it.

Now, here's a sweet video to take the nasty taste of thinking about such asshats out of our mouth....

    • RE: Where is the news of the next test phase...

@Kralith said in Where is the news of the next test phase...:

Because he said "I am more deadly..." - for me it looks like someone who makes bad reviews/comments/ratings, if the Studio don't act as he want.

He is not totally wrong, the masses on gamer on this planet can destroy a game in no time for reasons others not even understand, how you can rage about.
This happens daily on Steam: People who just take a look for a few hours or even just minutes to an early access game and rate it to the death.

The tone of a conversation can change drastically depending on what the people conversing accept as a possible contribution. It has been shown by research is that a very effective way to combat bigotry in a community is for community members to shut it down - to say 'freedom of speech is NOT unbounded here - there's no yelling fire in a crowded theater, no inciting violence, and no demeaning entire groups of humans in this group. If you want to do that you'll have to leave.'

Our community's response to the Entitled Paying Customer's rudeness toward the devs was a great example of this dynamic. He has not incited violence or demeaned any groups, but WE get to say what's acceptable in our midst, and (imo) calculated rudeness toward another member of the community should not be - neither should dogwhistling threats to the entire project.

I'm perfectly capable of ignoring an asshat, whether in a restaurant, a grocery store, or a forum; but I don't think adults should be throwing tantrums anywhere, and if they do I consider it part of good service to more desirable customers when the business shows asshats the door.

In a forum setting, escalating consequences are more appropriate than an immediate boot, but please don't put in on me to just ignore asshattery - if someone doesn't understand the boundaries, or enjoys testing/trolling them, please, @Prometheus and all you moderators, spare us. 🙏 🙏

    • RE: Karma and Friends

Any player can create up to three pc's to roam the different worlds of Fractured, so you don't actually need to choose. If you want to play a demon, and also play with the humans and the beastfolk, you can do that. Turning a demon into an angel is (and ought to be) a long and difficult process. Playing a good-aligned pc doesn't need to be all that work. But play the game you love! That's part of the fun of this new one - I don't have to do pvp unless I want to!
