RE: Really Disappointed.
@Xzoviac - I totally grok the urge to kick asshats where it hurts. And we all have different definitions of what sort of asshattery deserves kicking. That's why I suggested that individuals use DMs instead of making a public display of their righteous indignation.
I'm not at all the goody-two-shoes you might be assuming I am; I'm just an old lady who's been around the block enough times to know what works and what doesn't. I've learned to pick my battles, and acting as 'tone police' isn't my gig. I will, however, raise my hand and beg to differ when the testosterone level surges beyond any attempt at constructive dialog.
I know it may surprise some to hear it, but desiring some Kumbaya/Compassion/Golden Rule in an community isn't actually a sin, and doesn't necessarily make a person weak or stupid. Rock licking?

RE: B2P vs F2P
Gonna validate your question, @RoyalX, and let you know you're not the first person to ask it.
There are lots of good reasons why the devs want to try something different, and if you do a quick forum search with the string "F2P" you'll learn many of them. I won't repeat them here - @Xzoviac has laid a few out nicely already.
Honestly, there are SO MANY 'freemium' games to play, I always wonder why people who prefer them don't just keep looking instead of trying to mold this game to their preference when it's clear from the front page why the devs are doing things the way they are.
Hoping you'll stick around and maybe even buy the new game to see whether the difference ends up working better for you. I personally have played LOTS of 'freemium' games, and I'm really excited to get a different experience in Fractured.

RE: Really Disappointed.
woah, y'all, can we dial this back a notch?
People on any online forum are able to vent with relative anonymity, often saying things to others that they'd NEVER say to their faces. That seems to me to be what's caused the unnecessary escalation of a new player's (grantedly undiplomatic) expression of frustration into personal attacks.
Hoping y'all won't train your guns on me instead when I suggest doing what many of the replies have done: find the useful feedback within the frustrated venting, and respond to that instead. Invite & model the kind of solidarity and constructive language that you hope to hear in reply if you experience frustration in-game.
If you experience toxicity, instead of replying in kind in a public way, try sending a DM to the person and tell them what you felt offended by, and why. If they can't hear that, there's a really easy way to ignore that person, or even report them.

RE: Reagent Enchanting Spreadsheet (Update 2020-Oct-14)
@Farlander said in Excel Sheet for helping with Reagent Enchanting & Character making:
Awesome. I like when stuff like this hits the net. I'm not one of those guys that likes to spend hours figuring stuff out. It would really be nice if the game had an ingame knowledge system that actually had stuff like this. Your character is not you. Just like in D&D I might be playing a mage. That character knows the inner working of spells; how to use them, how to cast them, what is required. Myself, I know nothing of magic. If your character has the knowledge then the knowledge legend in the game should show the specifics that character should know. So if your character is very knowledgeable in enchanting then the tables would be available of what your character knows how to enchant.
I never thought about it that way, but YES YES YES.
Having some in-game hot links to wiki pages that had this info would do the trick, I think. -
RE: [A2.1.3 Feedback] Summary and random thoughts about a lovely Alpha
WOW! KUDOs and lotsa FP to @Kralith for this kind of helpful posting. I am so happy to see that this game has community members so thoughtful AND devs who listen.
Want to esp +1 this:
@Kralith said in [A2.1.3 Feedback] Summary and random thoughts about a lovely Alpha:Chat Auto Scrolling is very annoying, if the chat scrolls out fast and you try to read something somebody answered to you or had a question. Please insert a function, where you can deactivate the Autoscroll and add instead a "Show newest/to Bottom" Button.
I've played games that had less-than-functional chat programs and the constant bitching about it is NOT something you devs want to deal with, I promise. I am happy to see that we already have both local and global chat options, and looking forward to the guild, group, and private msg functions.
Thanks to all who are working so hard to make this a great game.

RE: February 2020 Playtest Review
SO glad to read that there was so much that went well! KUDOS to devs for listening and responding to user feedback after first tests... I know that's making a huge difference in satisfaction, which will impact sales in a positive way!
I'm also happy to know that 'early game experience' is going to be a focus for devs before the next Alpha. I was relieved to see that I wasn't the only person who struggled w the lack of tutorial or other clues while getting my bearings. If y'all need any copy-editing help, hit me up! I can spot a typo at 80 feet.

RE: [FRAC-1692] No movement options for structures in houses.
Obv not enough women on the dev team LOL
NO woman would forget a button to allow them to move the furniture.
I speak as a cis-bi female and y'all can feel free to disagree - but mostly it's funny bc it's true. -
RE: Hello to all! What are 3 tips you wish you had prior to your first minutes in Fractured?
I wish there was a tutorial or floating hints onscreen so I'd know how to
- claim land
- use my skills & possessions correctly
Not being able to do those things, I got eaten repeatedly by wolves that my starter weapon made zero dent in. I couldn't scare them away or run away, so it was not even a little bit fun.
I knew from the forum that the plots of land were pretty much taken, but had hoped I'd be able to learn something about the game interface, gathering, and pve by just wandering around. When the wolves attacked, I tried clicking on the skills that might be helpful but nothing happened. Tried right clicking, tried dragging the skill tile onto the mob. Nothing. Just repeatedly chomped. <sigh>

RE: Alpha 2 February stress test week feedback
I was able to get into the game world yesterday but not today. It's been loading my character for about 10 minutes now. I finally used the task manager to eliminate full screen and let it load in the background.
This is going to sound ridiculously basic, but I don't have the wiki memorized so I was looking for SOME clues about what to do first, next, etc, in-game. No tutorial AND no clues AND no way to access the wiki in-game? As a less than geeky grrrl who wants to play without having to study up first to do it, that's an issue.
And tbh I think it will be an issue for many potential players.Suggestion: short tutorial OR wikilink for beta

Play test 2/4/20 IoS or direct login?
which is working better for people?

RE: Monster infrequent weapons?
I'm with @Gothix et al who see mats coming from most mob kills but not top-tier weapons.
What would make sense to me is if fighting npcs like goblins & shamans dropped their weapons once defeated, but those weapons would either be low-level or base weapons (upgradable but not much better than what anyone could make themselves).
A high-level npc boss on Beastworld might drop something more desirable... there might even be a quest involved in attaining such a drop... but if the boss is that strong, it would take a team to bring them down. Then the Mighty Staff of Whatzisbucket would be a prize worth dueling for.... on another planet....

RE: Roadmap To Alpha 2 - Test 2
I'm just a beta level investor but Psyched to know there'll be another alpha test soon, and an open test as well.
If we could get the date(s) on that, I'd love to be able to make plans (and let hubbywoozle know he'll have to cook his own dinner)

RE: New Quest Rewards Needed (Forums)
@Farlander said in New Quest Rewards Needed (Forums):
I would say that most people who have reached 200 are coming here for updates and being involved ion the process rather than being enticed by cosmetic rewards. I'm not going to turn them down but I don't think they are necessary lol.
+1 @Farlander!
That said, THANK YOU @Znirf, for a gracious reply and hope for future fun rewards.

Whoa! Thanks guys! I'm not on every day as I once was, but hope that when I do post, it's thoughtful and helpful.

RE: This game will it be free to play someday?
There are no 'free to play' games, in reality. There are freemium games where players can enter w/o payment and play w/o paying, but in reality those games are impossible to play for free SUCCESSFULLY for any length of time.
This is because games exist within a capitalist universe and game developers need to eat. The result is that, in supposedly FTP games, the strongest players ('whales') are folks with a LOT of $$ invested in the game.
The model for this game is different. The dev's are trying to avoid the imbalance found in 'freemium' games by asking players to pay, up front, a set amount of $$, and then giving them access to EVERYTHING. The playing field is even, and the top players will be top players because they play well, not because they dump a lot of $$ into game currency.
Many of the people on this forum - me included - are folks who have invested in Fractured exactly because of this difference.
I'd encourage you to wait and see whether the game that develops, when made available to the public, is something you can afford to purchase and enjoy.
