    • RE: Your favorite Dailies, or what you would like to see them as.

@FibS - thanks for clarification. It's true, I'm not experienced w/MMOs - the few I tried weren't much fun for me. DDO was a money-sink full of 12-yr-olds; another open-source game (forget the name) was grindsville. I didn't stick around to learn what was normal for this sort of game, so I appreciate the clue that what I was talking about and what y'all are talking about are two very different things.

Now that I know what y'all are talking about, I can adjust my take:

Creative dailies in large towns, given by NPCs and opening quest-lines to creative cosmetic rewards, seem like a fun option to me as long as they're creative and optional. Folks who hate them should not be penalized for not doing them.

    • RE: Your favorite Dailies, or what you would like to see them as.

Wow this sure did evoke some strong opinions! Good thing to have that out where we can all see the extreme difference of opinions about something I've always felt pretty neutral about in the games I've played.

For me, the dailies in my current games aren't 'grind', they're opportunities to get little rewards. I can use those opportunities if I wish to, and there's no penalty for not doing them so <shrug> nbd.

The rat-tail quest doesn't sound like a daily to me. It sounds like a Quest. Dailies in the games I'm playing are, for the most part, thresholds to reach on stuff you were probably going to do anyway.
e.g., in Rise of Kingdoms (RTS mobile game) I get rewards every day for gathering x-amount of resources used for building. I don't always need resources, but it's something I can do while I'm not online and get a reward for later.

In Gems of War (match3+card fight mobile game) the dailies are easy puzzle/matches with needed supplies as bait. Sometimes I do them sometimes I have other stuff I wanna do.

In Fractured, dailies that would seem appropriate and fit my conception might be 'Add Knowledge to your book' or 'Help another player build something' (whether a campfire or a house). In a city or guild context, making any kind of contribution to the whole....

    • Book of Knowledge Wouldn't Close

Playing on a Windows 10 PC, first time I've run into something I thought was important enough to report. Looked in the book of knowledge about a mob and was unable to close the book and continue play. Tried logging out but the game wouldn't let me. Had to exit and go back in from the top.

    • RE: Sorry for not being Present

      Hi @Oxfurd
uh-oh! I'm sorry to hear about cut-backs! Given the pandemic, I think it's miraculous how much y'all have been doing despite the challenges. The alpha test seems to be a huge success, with lots of folks enjoying new capabilities! Congrats and KUDOS to all involved.

One thing that would be really helpful and (I'm sure) popular is a short vid about how the pandemic has impacted development. Transparency is always a major win for a brand during challenging times, since it's unexpected by 'consumers' used to pr spin and 'image massaging'.

Have you had to cut staff? How, if at all, has the projected timeline for full launch been adjusted? Are there pieces that can be done by the 'investor community' you've gathered? Inquiring minds want to know! This would be a perfect vid to send to the email list - not for the public page but for those who already have skin in the game.

Salud y Solidaridad from Tacoma WA! 🖖

@Xzoviac said in April 12 Player Cities Q&A Livestream - List Your Questions!:

@Specter could we get these videos posted on the main page in the media section please, so they are easy 2 find for people not searching this thread
      https://fracturedmmo.com/media/videos/

Really appreciate the link to the Q&A and the suggestion to add game-related vid to the main site asap to build buzz among folks unable to 'attend' the livestream. So psyched to learn about plans for next Alpha. This one really built on the first attempt to bring the game live, and I'm so happy with what I've experienced so far, it can only get more exciting as the new blocs of features flesh out this new world!

I've been too busy w/work-from-home to game as much as I could when the lockdown started, but my little mage is exploring up North now. Can hardly wait to find out what kinds of mobs are deployed on the peninsular regions!

I've played some other mmorpgs but never one that wasn't set up to be p2w. This is a lovely find for me. Hope you'll enjoy it too! Hope to see you in-game 🖖

    • RE: The community in Fractured is amazing

@Blackmoore1989 - first off, SO sorry to hear about your aunt! Too too many lost, esp in NYC 😞 🕊

Second, KUDOS to the players who showed solidarity and helpfulness 🏆 ❣

My guess about why the community gathering here is so cool is that when the devs set up a game in a way designed to limit or eliminate the P2W aspect, they spared us/themselves a LOT of jerques as well as people who don't suffer them gladly. I've noticed that often in the forum.

There will always be jerques, but the %age goes way down when you eliminate the segment of the population with more $$ than sense 😉

    • RE: User Story: Fewer clicks to populate a blueprint from a cart.

I'm with @KairosVal on this one! Having some code to allow a toon to complete a clearly defined task without it breaking down into a gazillion tiny sub-tasks is exactly the 'eliminate grind' we're hoping for in this game.

Thanks for listening, all you sweet devs! 💋

I've had this happen a few times. All those 6's in the life bars is scary, innit?
I've also had it happen when I do get in after one of these, that a dialog box for a gathered resource or a building need will just stay open and float around, with no way to close it. When that happens I have to log out and back in to get them to disappear.

I won an alpha key somehow so I've been enjoying the game even w my beta-level buy-in. Got the email this morning about opening things up & was really glad! Bringing more folks in will help devs measure some new metrics AND give those of us who have semi-developed toons a chance to 'party up' and help others get started. #KUDOS

    • RE: Any ideas for easing the search for specific items/mobs?

The workaround I'm finding easiest is to use dandelions in two of the enchanting slots. That's usually easy enough if the other reagents all have at least lvl 2 of their respective modifiers. When we're on to the higher level enchanting, of course, that's going to be harder and saving up rabbits' feet will be mission critical 😉

Meanwhile, just kill every one u see and enjoy lots of rabbit dinners!

    • RE: PUBLIC FIREPLACES? Why Not?

welp, I can open access to my storage and my crafting equipment, but not my bed or my fireplace. Dang. I'd cull this post except I want to ask the devs, "Perche no?"

In real life, anyone wandering in off the street could sleep in my bed or warm themselves at my fireplace. I grok that there's no lock on the door... still, it seems like a strange default.

Different folks' brains mostly work differently than mine, so this is just my 2 cents.

    • PUBLIC FIREPLACES? Why Not?

One thing I've decided to do, personally, is re-set my home's fireplace availability to 'PUBLIC' so anyone who passes by can rest up and cook their dinner. It's zero skin off my nose, and will help visitors from other parts of the map. Feel free to do the same! My little toons will be most grateful for any homey fires they find open to them in their travels 😉

      Happy trails, y'all! 🖖

@Farlander said, "unless there is a way to log out safely in the wilderness say with a bedroll. "

My personal suggestion is a re-useable tipi made from x# of branches + y# of hides. That's realistic enough and doesn't take up a lot of inventory space. It might not foil creatures w INT above a certain # but those are rare, right?

    • RE: Travelling is "complicated" to be mild

@Recoil - I'm actually enjoying the realism of having to work to get someplace on foot instead of just teleporting, but devs have promised mounts in the finished game, so things will feel 'closer' on the back of a horse/worg 😉

My m.o when I have a ways to travel is to pick a reagent or two that my pc needs to do an enchantment she wants on her gear. So I'll run a ways and then look around for a rabbit or some mandrake, then run a ways further. I'm enjoying the exploration, and sometimes running into the odd direwolf 🐺 👀
