    • RE: Family System and Account-Based Alignments

I want to thank @Clinion for the constructive attempt to share a possible way to prevent an exploit I've seen others put a lot of energy into fretting over.

I'm not one to give much thought to exploits, but I know for many players finding those is a key part of their fun. For others, thinking up ways to prevent exploits is a game in itself.

Whether or not Clinion's BDO-based suggestion will work for Fractured is for others to discern but I wanna give them snaps for the contribution. 🖖 🏆 🍻

    • RE: Will the abilities be clickable like in WoW?

@GamerSeuss - ofc we're not rehashing the WASD question! Please don't get me wrong!

I understood the OP to be about the idea of clicking on the hot bar to activate a skill/talent rather than using the keyboard hotkey, which is sorta the opposite, right?

Hotkeys are editable in 'advanced settings', I just wasn't sure whether there was a way to activate the hotbar tiles so they would be clickable. If not, I can't see why that wouldn't be an option that would create greater accessibility for folks like the OP. 🤷

    • RE: Quest system

      @Selfish said in Quest system:

Without a quest there has to be a lot going on in the world, otherwise ... dead pants.

Taking this as a given, I can assure anyone who is into the idea of this sandbox game that there are cities to build, keep up, and defend; fields of crops to plant, tend, harvest, bag and sell or bring in for city upkeep; smithies that require ore for smelting to craft tools and gear; over one hundred different materials one might gather to use to enchant said gear; & ambient mobs on the roads and in all the hills to deal with getting from one place to another to gather said materials.

      Definitely not dead pants.

    • RE: Quest system

While there is no plan in place to have any kind of quest system, the tutorial @GamerSeuss referenced is at this point rudimentary (going for a diplomatic description 🙄 )

I am hopeful that the tutorial will be developed prior to beta launch, so new players won't be forced into the ugly and unmoderated global chat to learn basic game mechanics and experienced players won't be obligated to babysit all the newbies asking VFAQs.

That said, a robust tutorial would probably be the closest this game will come to a quest system, acc to the plans shared by devs so far.

    • RE: Will the abilities be clickable like in WoW?

This is an important question! I know many of us would prefer to be able to use that setting - which may already be available in 'advanced settings' but I can't check that until the game is running again.

Anyone know offhand whether this is an option?

    • RE: ⚒ How to solve the problem with the strength of the equipment ⚒

GamerSeuss and Olive Pit have already laid out the reasons why @muker's ideas probably won't fly, but I wanted to say THANKS for the constructive, creative post. 👍 🍻

muker is new to the Fractured forum and hasn't been part of a lot of long-standing conversations, so it's understandable that they will 'reinvent some wheels' in their hope of making creative contributions.

I want to encourage as many of those as possible AND encourage muker to do a quick search on any ideas to find out whether they've already been discussed in this VERY active forum.

The devs did make a 'durability' enchantment to prolong usability - whether or not they'd be open to a 'whetstone' for field use is highly doubtful but not 100% known. The world changes so quickly nowadays... 😉

    • RE: ♻ The Philosopher's Stone 🔬

I do like the idea of a reagent, gem, or enchantment that gives players some sort of something once they've maxed the kp for x type of mob. Dunno if @muker's Philisopher stone is that, but it would be a nice & tradeable find for an advanced player.

Maybe this would be what a very hard-working farmer might find while harvesting or bagging their millionth crop 👩‍🌾 💎 👨‍🌾

    • RE: City Suggestion Megathread?

@Clinion said in City Suggestion Megathread?:

A rather crazy idea, but it would be fun to at least try it: How about allowing the cities to place outposts/camps outside the city zones but inside the zone of influence of the city? Some remarks and possible features of this system are as follows:

      • There should a limited number of buildings placed outside the city zone.
      • Buildings should not be placed inside POIs.
      • Types of building to be placed will be determined by the tech tree of the city.
      • These buildings can be protected by players/NPC guards and neighboring cities are allowed to capture those outposts/camps.

I want to second this suggestion! The way cities are set up, it makes sense for smaller guilds to band together in maintaining/upgrading them, but it would be cool if the different alliances could create their own 'suburbs' where specialization could flourish.

    • RE: City Suggestion Megathread?

Good idea to start this thread, @Alexian! I agree with both your bullet points, and want to add

      • a market open to all players in each city once minimum requirements are met for city bldgs necessary to call a place a 'town' (e.g., city hall, tavern, central storage)

      • meaningful rewards for cropworkers since they make possible the needful upkeep of the city. I don't mind that the 'fighter-folk' can skate on the work done by a few hearty souls who aren't as into mayhem; I just think there should be KP, transferable Skills, or some other reward that makes the grunt & grind of the granary worthwhile

    • RE: Roadmap To Fall Alpha 2021

Exciting news! Lots of interesting, respectful discussion w a range of opinion & constructive suggestions!! Dev participation & personal replies to ideas/concerns!!

Just wanted to point out how rare & beautiful this forum is in the world of gaming.

I'm looking forward to seeing how all these changes end up feeling once I'm in-game bc reading/parsing long descriptions of game mechanics makes my eyes roll back, glaze over, & fall out. There's a reason I mostly play m3s 😜

One personal disappointment is that I was hopeful & excited about the rumor of Beastkin being part of this test - but I grok why working out the pvp & alignment stuff takes precedence.

Thanks for the update @Prometheus! Stay well & party on 🖖

    • RE: CREDIT

Hihi @Bihon! I can't blame a person for trying. If the straight-up ask doesn't net you a key, there are lots of ways to get one free. GamerSeuss lists several but missed the one that got me in:
If you effectively post [NOT SPAM] about Fractured on your social media accounts in a way that recruits new investors, you can win a key. Check this thread for examples:

    • RE: Best Guess Summer Alpha?

heya @BitterLoD 🖖 My experience is that the announced alpha starts are largely aspirational.

Personally, I'm expecting the 'Summer' alpha to start in early September (it's Summer until the 20th!)

....or so .... barring major unexpected, impossible to predict obstacles (COVID resurge caused by a brand new ugly variant? Nasty ransomware attack that brings down all the UNITY servers? WWIII? After murder hornets & insurrection I really am impossible to shock)

@GamerSeuss is right to point us toward the promised Roadmap. Those are always fun and it's so exciting to see what they've been working on. Veteran forum denizens mostly agree that faster isn't necessarily better and whenever the devs surface to give us an update it's cause for celebration

    • RE: What are people playing while waiting for the next Alpha?

I'm more a tabletop RPG person than an MMO person, so btw tests I relax with my mobile games.

The one I've played longest is Gems of War, which features match3 turn-based battles with tons of different types of creatures. I highly recommend it as a time-waster and general relaxant 😁 I've got a chill guild and it's got plenty of opportunity for P2W but if a person is just Cheap2Play like me, they can still do quite well.

I'm also following with great interest the development of another MMORPG, based on a tabletop game called Wagadu Chronicles. The universe for this D&D type game is based in African mythos, and I'm totally psyched to learn more about that! Nice change from the usual Euro-fantasy elves and dwarves.

[n.b., I've got nothing against the Eurofantasy thing! I love dragons and Terry Pratchett and D&D all to bits, but the world is a BIG place, and there's a lot of way cool mythos to explore in Africa, Asia, South America, the Middle East... Why limit ourselves, y'know? 🌍 🌏 🌎 ]
