      There are some really important points made here, and I appreciate them. I'll confess that having had both of my toons die twice was a real buzz kill this time around.

      In the first test, the house plots were free and so I'd set my toons up on different ends of the map and meant to build in the middle. Got all the way there and found out I needed 500 gold 🀦 πŸ˜₯ Died on the way back to Goblin Hills.

      So I started over, and started farming goblins for gold. Got knocked down a LOT but managed to gather 100gp. Brought it back to town bc, not having a house, there was no place but on my person to carry gold and I'd already died w a bunch of gold on me once.

      Realized that by the time I got 500 gold pieces to build my house, this test would be over.

      SooOOoOooo, I'm gonna wait to build a house until I know my toon will persist, cuz that's a hella job. KUDOS to the folks who got that done quickly!

      Probably would be much easier as a guildie, but I had trouble logging in the first few days, so the guilds were pretty much filled up by the time this realization hit me. Oh well.

      On the plus side - this game is REALLY immersive. Hours fly by for me when I'm exploring w my little toons. I love learning about the various plants, and wish I'd been able to find a working enchanter's table in the starter town (did I miss that?) Would've made goblin killing a whole lot easier - in the first alpha, I even killed a bunch of wisps by myself with well buffed gear.

      I was having a lot of fun, even if I got killed repeatedly, but I had to give up yesterday when I couldn't get in at all. FPs and DTs making me feel much mo' betta!

      I have also set up a guild for Beastfolk, which will be focused on guiding and defending tourists, travelers, merchants, and newbies.       same here. this is a stress test, so it seems the devs are finding out where the limits are. only thing to try is rebooting, w hope that some folks have logged off. Here I go again...

      This is a known problem, and I believe it's part of the reason they're doing this stress test. It usually takes me at least 3 tries to get in, but then I can play.

      Definitely annoying, to be sure, but (unless your graphics card or modem are the problem) it just requires patient persistence to get through.

      Lots of QoL stuff to work on, that's for sure. Balancing rolling out new segments of the game like cities with eliminating annoyances is a tough thing, but @Prometheus & the devs will definitely need to put some energy into that - maybe during the A2.T3 if the cities aren't too buggy?

      I keep having a 'your position' pop-up that just hangs there until I log out >.< I can work around it, like you can work around the blur of others' names, but neither should be something anyone needs to deal with for much longer.

      Lots of QoL suggestions from the last test that would be easy fixes didn't happen for this stress test, but we can hope some of them will happen for the June A2.T3.🀞 πŸ™ 🀞 πŸ™

      Some of that balance will be decisions around what QoL changes are strictly improvements and which are getting rid of gamer-irritating inadvertancies like @Jestyr24's and mine

      when I did a search for "chat" I got lots of old posts but no new ones, so wondering if it's happening w anyone else. global chat is visible for me, but the log entries (like, +1 rope) are posting on top of that but not moving w the scroll, and I can't read through. Can't add to chat either. Just watching @Oxfurd & the gang having fun 😞

      Then my Book of Knowledge refused to close and I had to exit, but that's a separate post...

I do have a different perspective on most of this, as I have been involved in many aspects of the industry, other than just being a gamer. This does not make my opinion any more valuable than anyone else's but it does sometimes make it different.

      Thanks for clarifying! But I'm easily confused πŸ˜‰ When you say 'I'm not an investor' I'm hearing 'I'm not a big @$$ backer' - but you have invested in this game as far as buying a backer's package, yes?

      I figure if someone who has that much experience is interested in this game, it's a good sign. And your sometimes-different perspective is one I'm looking forward to hearing more of. See you in-game!

      hmmmm... Interesting that Albion started as B2P.
      @dgca raised a fair question. I'm learning about the concept of 'sandbox' - from the way folks here use the term, it seems to mean that you put a world out there and see what happens when your players go to work in it. Is that correct? Maybe someone can hone my definition...

      So, if a group of players decides they want to invest all that time and energy to rule the world, why not let them? Whatever strictures are set up to prevent that would, as dgca notes, cut into the 'sandbox' concept, right? I'm no purist, and I'm not advocating for this kind of pure 'sandbox' idea, just learning about how the word is used.

      I'm hoping dgca is assuming a sandbox game that isn't your garden-variety freemium P2W set-up, unless they think oligarchy is working out well for us in real life. In a P2W context, idealizing a 'pure sandbox' seems to me like just a fig leaf for whales-gonna-whale. I get enough of that IRL these days, thank you kindly. πŸ’Έ πŸ€‘

      πŸ˜† πŸ˜† to be brutally honest, I bought in one night after more bourbon than usual.

      I'm totally poor, and/but I wanted the devs to know there were players out here so sick to death of the 'freemium' model that we'd spend $75 for even a CHANCE to play a game like Fractured.

      Not, I'll freely admit, my wisest financial decision. But my experience since then in this community and with the game - even just the bare bones the devs have gotten up for testing - has been worth what I spent to me.

      Value is a peculiar thing, innit? Welcome to our community, @Girlxs! Here's hoping that, like me, you get what you paid for and then some. πŸ––

      You're joining this bunch at a great time - there's going to be an open test in just a few days, so you'll have a chance to checkout the gameworld for free (while helping the devs test their server capacity).

      From this post and others in the forum, it sounds to me as though Albion is the mmorpg that our forum-dwellers consider to be closest in concept to Fractured. Close enough that players are looking to that game to reflect on possible problems to be avoided w/Fractured.

      I don't have any experience w/sandbox mmo games, so I surfed the wiki a bit - it looked like one big difference is the 3 planets/3 gameplays idea. The other is that Albion is 'freemium' rather than B2P

      How much difference will those two things make btw the two games? Will it be enough to avoid the potential pitfalls? Asking those w experience bc I'm a total n00b where sandbox mmorpg is concerned.

      This is so close to mine that I can't think what I'd take out to add 'NO P2W', but w/o that piece I probably wouldn't have bought in. So you get my top 6, not necessarily in this order
