nope. same issue. clicking on the map or using the M key triggers a freeze that requires exit
@Kralith & all my New Order buddies will have to build their city w/o me, I guess.
I'll check in tomorrow.

On my old computer. Gonna try w my new one now and see whether the maps are working for me yet
@Shivashanti - I'm hoping it's not JUST me dealing w this, bc it won't get fixed if it is and that will be it for this test for me.
I got a brand new computer for this test. It's not top of the line but it's a decent PC with plenty of RAM. If the problem is actually on my end, that doesn't bode well for other run of the mill nerds trying to play this game.
Posted my PC spex to discord
The patch didn't touch whatever is going on w my map. I'm on a brand new PC that should be capable. When I use 'M' or click on the minimap, my game freezes and I have to bring up the task manager to exit and reload.
I feel your pain, @Irrelevant ! This issue is known to occur with older computers (like mine). The devs have said they don't want to make a game you need a state-of-the-art pc or gfx card to play, but the older potatoes DO take their time to load, and the eternal load has dogged me through previous tests.
One thing a fellow player suggested that helped was (if you can get into Settings)
One other thing that made a difference was switching my resolution to the highest setting poss w/o things getting too blurry. [screenshot below]
Hope this helps!
Another thing to remember is that timing can make a big difference, esp during the early days of the test. When the server is crowded, I still get hung up, or even 'booted' sometimes when I first start. If you can try a time when the East Coast is sleeping, you can probably get in more easily.
great work & responsiveness, y'all! #KUDOS
I had trouble w the map on two different computers - made it impossible to go anywhere unless I wanted to strike out blindly, so I quit for the night. I'll check in this evening, hoping to play for a solid bloc of time
All my UI shortcuts work EXCEPT for the map (M). When I click that or the minimap, my game freezes and I have to end task and reload
Hi! Glad to have new players like @UndergroundLogic checking out the game.
There's a nifty feature in this forum that allows you to search for questions/topics like the one you're about to ask. Maybe someone already asked that question? Raised that topic? Made that suggestion?
Check out that SEARCH feature y'all! There might be a whole discussion about that idea/topic/suggestion! We've been here a while now
@appleezz gets the @Kralith award for Conscientious Bug Reporting!
While most of us look at this stuff and say "they'll get around to it eventually" the best testers report it all and let Devs sort it out
@GamerSeuss said in Dungeons-Arena content:
- There have been a few people suggesting some kind of Arena area where structured PvP challenges can be made and accepted, but no word from the Devs yet if they like or plan to use this idea.
- It was said early on that one of the available archetypes that will be playable would be a Bard-type Charisma focused character, and those powers may involve the parts of the Talent Tree that are still not implemented yet. Several players, myself included, have expressed interest, so here's hoping.
I'm among the people who are hoping for an arena-type thingee where players can be matched against fairly-even opponents, but I also saw in at least one other test where players organized their own 'arena' events for pvp tournament action. If that's how it ends up rolling, that's cool too, imo
The latest video about new abilities showed off a new 'Leader' school that's tied to Charisma. None of that is fully developed but it's good to see that wing of the talent tree finally active!
See y'all in there

WOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good question w lots of thoughtful feedback!
With the proviso that this is strictly about Syndesia, and implemented once the PvP haven is online:
I like the idea of losing KP once a PK's murder rate hits a certain level. It's like, 'yeah, you got my loot, but now you're STUPIDER than you already were"
Yes, it would be permaloss because you can only 100% critters one time. That would be a serious discourager of career assassins on Syndesia, which I love to see. And a funny situation where cretinous murderous thugs roam the backroads, getting popped by talented folk like me
Hell to the no
I was disappointed that the Beastfolk were dropped from this test, I cannot lie. But this PvE grrrl loves the game so far.
Legends are definitely an incentive to be part of a guild. There are some good ones to join, even if they are PvP focus right now, they're also ready to send out parties to hunt mobs and Legends for KP
A co-worker turned me on to a new game in beta available via Steam that I'm really enjoying -
Wildermyth mimics tabletop D&D in many ways (turn based mob slaying w loot etc) but has lots of room for editing/creativity and a fun discord community with devs who are very available.
$25 buy-in but I've definitely gotten my money's worth already and no micro-transaction ads popping up everywhere is a nice change.
If you decide to check it out, look for Arrya Humble on Steam for multiplayer adventuring
@GamerSeuss - I'm well chuffed about spell channeling too! I'm hoping it's not just melee weapons that get to have spells attached.
The game is getting more complex w each build, which is a learning curve for all of us and part of my fun so THANK YOU for So Much new stuff to play with, @Prometheus. I will get it very wrong, I have no doubt. And learn lots for next time!
re: quibbles re timing: many of us have been around long enough to recognize that adding 3-4 weeks to any announced time frame is S.O.P. Which brings us to mid-October for the Actual launch of the alpha. Does that meet w y'all's approval?
Y'all know I agree with @GamerSeuss at least 98% of the time. This particular thing, tho, I'm with Chiron.
I understand the desire for a certain aesthetic/feel determining the defaults, and I understand the need to outwit exploitative botlords. But I want to go on record as prioritizing accessibility, at least in the 'settings' options.
Our community has proven adept at identifying exploits and exploiters so far (thanks esp to the Oran-Thul - masterful exploit identifiers!). @Specter & the devs have shown themselves hella responsive when the community identifies an issue.
Giving those with limited arm/hand function a way to play won't add so many botlords that we can't deal with them, imo. That's my 2 cents.
