Why's that? Fractured and it's mechanics are nearly perfectly set up for people who want to avoid PvP and still be out exploring. Be creative!
Go stealth and sneak past any evil person trying to fight you.
Go extreme evasion and debuf resilience, then simply run/teleport away if somebody comes to catch you.
The possibilities are there, use them 😉

@Logain LOL you literally just told me to do what I said I was going to do. 🤣

Great minds think alike and so do ours 😉 🖖

As for me, there may be too many survival aspects in this game. I was so intrigued by the exploration opportunities that the game seemed to offer, but I had no interest in playing a survival game. I too am hopeful and will continue to watch the game develop with interest.

+1 on this. I bought in for the promise of no P2W and for Arboreus. I don't enjoy the PvP stuff at all, so this next test will be a challenge (if/when I win a key! I always will try!) but I know it's a part of putting things together that most players will be thrilled to see.

Totally down for letting others have some joy - my turn will come.

One thing adding PvP will do is add to the challenge of exploration (my favorite thing!). I'll probably do less of the exploration I love this time around, but that can't keep me from having fun if I think creatively.

Considering a monk/mage farmer focused on weapons-free combat skills - someone who can help w city upkeep and a little bounty hunting in town w/o losing too much loot if someone really wants to kill farmers.

Shiva, but we also got hermit plots. Those should also have some purposes. I think that the focus of these alphas was the guild content, because that appeals to most people, but solo content will come eventually.

      +1 this

I noticed, in my travels, that there are always a few 'hermit plots' near fertile fields and mining nodes. This will be cool for the players who are dedicated miners or farmers for their guilds. They might not want to live in town but can use the town's resources & crafting centers. Wouldn't be a bad life at all!

I also saw that there are always a few 'hermit plots' near the entrances to mob camps. I really appreciated the players who built on those & placed public hearths for recharging 😍 🔥 :💞

But I also reckon there's some entrepreneurial potential for a player who wants to sell new armor and weapons to folks who just got theirs trashed by a legend 💰 🗡 🛡 ⚔ 🤑

@Gothix - pourquoi pas? My evil alt can gather gold in dasterdly ways. My good alt can use the gold to get them out of jail. Seems like it should work.

That said, I'm not the type to do evil stuff for fun - just pointing out a possible exploit in case the devs need to find a fix for it. My evil friend @Nekrage taught me to do that 😉

    • RE: I wish casual players to have blacksmithing , leatherworking etc benches in their land.

@kuunkhaai - It's hard to know, at this point, what the devs have in mind for the long term. Cities and the blacksmith function are still new content, shaking bugs out. Same w farming.

I'm guessing that as the world grows, some of these options will evolve. Being a lone smithy in the woods near a mining town might become a possibility, and a cool one!

I'm happy to report that the devs have been excellent so far about listening to players' ideas. They don't always fit the vision of the guys behind the game, but when they can be fit in they often are.

      Keep making thoughtful suggestions! 🖖

It will be enough to get online and get a feel for the game so at least i'm not a total newbie when the game does finally launch and i can dive right in .. from everything i've read so far it looks terrific 👍

      WELCOME & YES!

I'm using the alphas not just to kill time or test their content, but to make all those n00b mistakes so when my 'for real' toons are born, they'll benefit from all that trial and error!

Between now and the next test, 3 things any newly joined player can do to get up to speed:

      1. Read through forum and wiki posts to get familiar with game mechanics and learn from mistakes OTHERS have already made. You'll also get familiar with some forum voices and know who's trustworthy/helpful and who isn't so much. Following the trustworthy ones will start your ingame network of relationships and responding thoughtfully can win you prizes, so don't be shy!
      2. check out some of the great videos done by our content creators to get a taste of how the game feels and learn about features already in place. Two I recommend highly are @Nekrage and @Oxfurd
      3. Find a copacetic guild. There's a forum thread of recruiters and also a good Fractured discord channel if you want to get to know folks in the guild before you join.

Looking forward to meeting you ingame!

@Birthright I've done a few of these alphas so far, and I am having a great time checking out the new material each time, but I totally feel you about building and upkeep.

In the actual launched game, a player will only build their house once. Yeah it's a big job. That's very realistic! But I think in the next test I'll try to find a few guildmates to build a shared abode with, or just sleep in taverns 🍺 🔥 bc I know how to build a house and that content doesn't need testing anymore. My 'for real' house can wait, and that work will be worth it when the house will last years instead of a month.

I spent the last part of this test seeing whether it was possible to keep a city going solo. My guildies moved on to another game's alpha and left a well-built city for me to live in. Now, could I make that work? Or would it decay and crumble? I was lucky to be in a city with a harbor and fertile fields. I made some good trades and found some nice connections. Not fun for everyone but definitely fun for ME for a week or so.

Fractured is not a game that is set up for long-term solo play at this point. Forming relationships and cooperative work arrangements is part of the challenge. The resources are intentionally distributed in a way that makes trade and cooperation necessary. That won't please everyone.

As time goes on it will be easier to play solo, I think - but being a hermit merc or a rootless trader depends on others doing the organizing to create home bases for solo players to foray to and from.

    • RE: Your goals

@Ginjar - it's good to have goals! And everything after survival is gravy. That said...

In an alpha, anyone clear on the concept will have (at least as a 'background' goal) testing the new content the devs have added. There will be lots of new content in the next alpha but I'm guessing most folks will be having fun testing the PvP/Karma system.

I'm sure I'll do some of that, just to survive, but my interests are more Arborean in general, so I'll be most interested in testing new city technologies that may be added - trading, crafting, farming. And I'm guessing that will be welcomed by the devs bc everyone else will be out zerging and pk'ing and bounty hunting. Also by my guildmates, since someone will need to watch the city while they're all out slaying each other.

To that end, my build for the next test will be a mage/monk whose damage is mostly either magic or barehanded, with a dagger for backup. That way, anyone who interferes with my farming will be SORRY. 🥋

But I won't be a total homebody! I love exploring, and gathering KP from interacting w the environment and its denizens. Last test I really enjoyed killing ??'s So my guildies better give me a couple of 'days off' each week to go out and ride my horse all over the place 🏇

    • RE: Player Profile {foundation}

So far, each test has started from scratch. You name your toon when you create your new player character. Each account can create up to 3 toons.

On the Foundation website, there's a place to create a Hero Profile that I've found pretty useless so far. I had created a hero based on my initial intention to base my play in Arboreus, but then when I wanted to edit that bc I changed guilds, I was limited to a Syndesian/human/male profile. 🤷‍♀️

I'm leaving that part of the Foundation profile alone until the devs catch up with my vision.

      Hope this helps!

The bounty hunter concept is going to be fun to try out. Has there been a determination on the length of prison stay for players that are captured? Will there be a visual timer so that they know? And will it be in game time or real time for the sentences.

Game time or real time is an important question! Thanks for bringing that up. 👍

The day I decided alpha testing was not for me and stopped playing.

Fair enough 🤣 I don't deny the incompleteness and bugs try a person's patience. And patience isn't ordinarily my long suit. Still, taken as what it is, there is already much to enjoy for me and I wondered what others thought.

@Logain is right - alphas aren't set up for fun AND there needs to be some incentive for folks to participate. It's definitely true that a large % didn't continue playing to the end.

So it might help the devs to learn what people did enjoy (they've already heard LOTS about what annoyed us!)

    • FUN test! Thanks

I've really enjoyed this last test. Just wanted to say that. There's been plenty of feedback about what's needed, and lots of good responses from the dev team, but what a game is meant to be is fun.

Wanted to say I had fun. Hope others did too! I made some great connections and had super times exploring the ??iverse, slaying new mobs, figuring out the trading post, farming nekkid, and being the beaner harbor of the north.

What was most fun for y'all in this test?
