Seems that where there's a will, there's an exploit. Good on you, @GreatValdus, for pointing out the possibility in case this is something the devs want to consider.

Guild Recruitment Request: Base Location or Time Zone
Hi guys! Some of y'all are already doing this, but it would be great if it were more consistent.
Best guild play experience is when folks can actually play together. Knowing where the guild is based would be very helpful for new players seeking a group available to play when they are, right?
Wanna suggest posters in this thread tag their subject line w your Guild's base location (e.g. W-EU, E-NA) or w a Time Zone (e.g. GMT+3). It would help a lot!
If your guild is large enough to have members worldwide, that's awesome! Let folks know that too.
I love my Meridian guildies, but I also have one eye open for a copacetic crew forming on the US West Coast or thereabouts. The EU teams are already sleepy by the time I can log on

RE: First Impressions on the new City System
@GamerSeuss replying to @Kazzier said
- Remember, as always, PvE play does not mean Casual play...there are serious players who never, EVER enter into the PvP portion of a game, and there are casual players who spend much of their time in PvP (often dying). It is a major misnomer to think that non-PvP/Safe-zone play makes one a casual gamer. Casual versus serious is more a matter of how much time and effort you invest/are willing to invest in a game.
- Skillers/PvE gamers can be 'competitive' players too, they just don't necessarily enter into the PvP competitions, but many games also have other mini-games involving the skills and/or storyline of the game that they get very passionate about.
I can't possibly thank you enough for articulating this so well.
During alphas, and in previous rpg and rts games I've played, I've put in a good chunk of time daily, and been a reliable, contributing member of any guild I've joined. If I wasn't going to be around when I normally would've been, my guildies knew it in advance (unless I was hospitalized or incarcerated). That's nobody's definition of casual.
I have fought when it was necessary, and done my best to kill when ordered to do so - I just haven't enjoyed that part.
I get SO tired of people assuming I'm a coward, or less invested, for not enjoying PvP. I love the challenges of PvE, and I truly appreciate a game where the devs have promised a whole world of that without having to constantly deal with people being demeaning and condescending bc I don't enjoy PvP battles.
I do enjoy being able to choose when I fight another player, in a 'fair fight arena' type of context. But ganking and griefing and all that brouhaha? All y'all Tartarsaucians can have my share

RE: About This Forum Engine
@GreatValdus - Welcome!
I don't know squat about forum engines, but I do know this forum has created a superb community. @Specter & the devs have done a great job of keeping things relatively civil, and responding amazingly promptly to player concerns.
I believe the game model - avoiding P2W - has attracted a more copacetic group than any other game forum I've been on. There's some friction, to be sure, but there's very few of the 'I paid lots of my good money so you must listen or I will stamp my foot and slam the door' crowd I got used to seeing run forums for previous games.
Again, welcome! Looking forward to seeing you in-game! Meanwhile, allow me to recommend that you scout the recruiting posts on this forum & discord to find a guild that's a good fit. Way more fun and perks playing w a guild.

RE: Weekly Drawings - Be Active & Win Foundation Points!
@Pandarito - better if it's not, tbh. As Specter sd, there's already a thread for doing that quick&easy. Also, as someone who has won this prize more than once, spamming your friends w daily posts about this game is the opposite of what wins this prize.
What wins is finding a social media context where people are likely to be interested in this game & posting there when there's new & useful information about this game (and documenting those posts here).
That should result in new subscriptions to the game, which the arbiters of the prize can see and for which they will reward you! Good luck! I hope to see you in the alpha

RE: City / Town Plots Removal
@Xzait - It's totally true that people who come in blind and do dumb stuff will be at a distinct disadvantage (whatever the game mechanics end up being).
That's a big reason I'm playing through these alphas, staying current in the forum, and keeping tabs on new content & parameters. I'm learning a lot this way, and I'm making as many n00b errors NOW as possible
so when I build my 'forever toon', she'll be as regret-free as I can make her.
The basic philosophical question, as I see it, is:
Should the game be built in a way that enables/forgives blind foolishness in order to retain max # of players? Excellent, intelligent arguments can be made on both sides of this question. @Specter might want to move the discussion to a different thread to accommodate the debate. I'm not going to say what I think right now - I might change my mind later
What's important to note is that the developers have the responsibility for making decisions like this, and then living with the financial and social costs of deciding one way or the other.
They might decide having a ton of random 'I don't need no stinkin' FAQ folks buy in is what their bizmodel demands... They might decide creating a context where research & deliberation are rewarded is a better idea.
I am not the one to make this decision, but I'll live with it, either way - or not. That's how capitalism works, as I understand it. I'm not disagreeing with your point, Xzait - I'm just pointing out that your point begs a larger question

RE: Spell Tomes/Books?
@GamerSeuss said in Spell Tomes/Books?:
. Lair creatures would be the Legends and Bosses, and possibly chests or other types of lootables within certain specific home base settings. For instance, a Bear might spawn, and after you killed it, a search of the area might eventually lead you to a bear's cave, and in the cave is a pile of refuse and junk that when searched might contain more extensive 'treasures' than what you would find on the creatures themselves in the wild.
This is, again, if the Devs want to go through the details of putting lairs that are searchable sprinkled in the wild...or chests that periodically refill and become researchable in Tribal centers and old ruins.
Now THIS is an idea I love. Might be best as a later addition but makes total sense.
Added benefit of giving folks a reason to keep dealing with lower-level mobs after the 100% knowledge is gained - if killing a bear, a goblin, a skel, or a fox spawned a nearby lair to seek out and raid for stuff the creature had collected from unwary travelers....
Hard to find a down side from here. Thanks GamerSeuss!

RE: Why don't you open a test server for the packs
@Eurav said
The previous one month long tests, always ended with, apart from a select few, nobody playing anymore after the first few days.
WOW! I love being part of the select few! Probably the only part of my entire life where that's the case.
This poor grrrrl paid good $$ for access and I'll play as long as I can, thanks. If that makes me part of a select few, so much the better.

RE: When will this game be playable again? Also what level package will I need to participate?
@HitemWitDaFlex hi guy! Our upcoming alpha will start in a few weeks and probably last about a month once it gets going (sometimes the initial day or two is kinda buggy)

RE: Spell Tomes/Books?
@d3Sync - I think that's pretty much what the Legend drops are, innit? Parts of Lore books that give kp when opened?

RE: Doubt about the game
@Nemtor - welcome to our community! @GamerSeuss answered your basic question, but I want to say this:
Treating each alpha test as a game in itself has been fun for me, and I have already gotten my money's worth in enjoyment, and met some excellent people both in-game and in the forum.
But each test also teaches me new things as I make mistakes I won't make when the game launches. Looking forward to learning a lot in this next test, with many changes since the last one.
Here's hoping you will find a forum thread in a language that's comfortable for you and start making some new friends! I see your YouTube page is Chilean - here's a link for the Spanish forum

RE: My char when alpha / beta ends
@Fabius said
Do we will lose our chars when alpha and beta ends ?
These tests are short runs to test new content, shake out bugs, and learn what needs further balancing. So the toons you create and the house you build vaporize at the end of the test.
I've enjoyed each test so far as a game in itself, and gotten to play alongside lots of great folks who post on the forum. A real community is forming in this game, and that's worth my time even if the toon & house don't last.
I'm also learning a lot from each test about builds - what works and what doesn't - so when I finally create my 'for real' toons, I'll be able to avoid lots of fatal mistakes. Definitely worth it for me!

RE: planet moving
@AltadarLeviathan - One possible way around this dilemma is to create toons of different races in order to play on different worlds. One normal account is able to create up to 3 toons. More premium accounts may have more slots.
Since (at this point) property is attached to accounts, not toons, my Beastfolk toon could visit Syndesia on special occasions and have a home all built there, with food in the larder and some reagents that might be harder to access on Arboreus. My human toon could visit Arboreus too, although if I messed up her karma it wouldn't be a good experience.
Does that help at all?

RE: Played a few of the open tests
Gratz on taking that plunge, @Lifeburn! Looks like this next alpha is going to be VERY different.
I have no idea what will happen, but I'm really psyched to be able to play again. I miss my little toons
I had planned to avoid housebuilding for this test but the new city set up almost demands that I decide whether to build in town or in a 'residential area', doesn't it?
Where I used to be able to recharge at a nearby tavern, the cities are much farther apart now, and it's hard to predict what a place by the fire at a city tavern might cost.
