    • RE: Light role play beastmen guild.

Heya @WhoAteTheCat! Well-met, m8! Great minds think alike and so do ours. 😉

My Beastling Pack guild is planned as a bunch of PvE heroes who help folks from off-world (esp traders or crafters seeking special materials) move about Arboreus safely. We're going to be based in the south port city of Duath for this test. You are SO welcome to join us!

@humerus - it is a true fact that anyone coming to Arboreus to kill people will definitely not be seeking help from Arboreans. My hope (and I'm guessing, Cat's as well) is that Arboreans and Syndesians who choose the crafting or merchant life, or who are basically solo players that can't kill everything on Arboreus solo, might appreciate a group to travel with.

My group will be working with @LilCassiopeia during this test, in the southern port city of Duath. First we'll help the Meridian guildlings build the city, as a base of operations. Then, as time goes on, my hope is that the Beastling Pack will be able to earn our daily bread by adventuring forth as protectors of the traveling tradesfolk. I could be way wrong, f or sure. But that's my plan for now 😄

      🤣 great idea! Thanks m8
I've been using a variant of this posted by @maze and tweaked by me to be a 'Barehanded Ninja Monk' but I haven't had time in-game to get her butt out of town yet 🙄 🤣

    • RE: Tame monsters and make them accompany you

A quick look at the wiki re the CHA stat talents showed a Whole Lot of them haven't been implemented yet. One of those, Beastmaster looks particularly relevant to this discussion.

The balance aspect is the reason the animal companions we can get in the store aren't battle aides. Moral support & cuteness are also important though!

Looking forward to seeing how the animal command/tame features work, when they roll those out. Would be so cool to be able to de-escalate a bear or a wolf instead of having to kill them 😁

@Logain is right about what the best practice is. I'm ready to settle for what I can get at this point, but it never hurts to articulate the best practice as an aspirational goal 😉

Thanks for all the input !
It is information like that I cant get just watching videos and looking at builds or the wiki.
I look forward to playing and seeing the free form class developments.

More than in other games I've played, regular participation in the discussions here has helped me avoid costly/fatal errors. The experiences I've had playing different toons and builds in the alphas as the game progresses are doing the same.

I honestly feel for the players who will come in blind - buying the game and believing that they should be able jump in and have the same kind of success as those who have invested time and money in developing their approach. Compassion for them doesn't, however, mean I want to build the game so that they will be able to do that! 😉 😝

That said, anyone who buys in has the ability to create at least 3 toons, and/or delete a faulty toon and start over

For the content creators who are giving out advice for a living:
It will be a true service to let your subscribers know how important an informed approach is with this game. Post the FAQ in the 'about' for your videos and twitch streams & recommend participating constructively in the forum as ways to avoid fatal errors.

    • RE: Senatus Populesque

I really appreciate the time and thought @Mirgannel12 put into this post and the ideas in it, even if (as @GamerSeuss points out) there are problems w those ideas.

I do like the idea that governors could opt to give citizens voting rights conferring some say in city decisions - whether bc they are part of an allied guild or for other services rendered. I know the devs have given governors options wrt form of governance being autocratic/authoritarian or democratic, but that hasn't really been implemented yet. So, HOW that gets implemented is still an open question.

This thread might serve as a way to refine the community's thoughts on the subject.

One idea I'd like to toss out there is:

We've discussed the desirability of a town 'Notice Board' function for governors to make announcements and for citizens to post requests/party gathering info...

I'd love that Notice Board to also be a place where governors could post time-limited POLLS where citizens eligible to vote could help guide the direction of their city by letting the governor know what directions were best supported by those who actually live and work there.

    • RE: Fractured Tools

      WOW! this is so great! Thanks @Tajger 👏 👑 🍻 💋

I see @OlivePit's point about how these sorts of player-created adjuncts reveal growth edges and possible QOL improvements - but at this stage of development, what I see revealed even more is the willingness of players to engage outside the game in ways that enhance play for everyone. This kind of creative adjunct activity drew many players to Game of Thrones - Ascent, back in its day.

Tajger's tools aren't the first evidence of this, of course. @maze's amazing enchanting tool was an early and very welcome help, and now the Shadow Empire maintains an excellent aide, worthy of bookmark.

The time and energy being put in by players before a game is even launched is something truly worth noting and celebrating. Onward and upward, y'all.

    • RE: Crafting considerations

I love the idea of a personal plot owner being able to specialize, and small groups being able to synergize.

That guy who lives by the mine might even be a guildie who just wants to keep an eye out for randos snaking ore and pump out some ingots to trade for other stuff. He might help out the guild mining parties and fill up wagons to be taken back to town for trade, while crafting his own metalwork.

That crew of four might station themselves in a cluster near a hot spot for various nefarious to service-oriented purposes, and help travelers replace busted gear.

      Thanks for dropping by, @FLeaLoD

    • RE: Crafting considerations

Getting the balance right on this will take several iterations, & no doubt each one will elicit a collective wail from whichever faction is impacted in a way that creates novel hardship for them.

What's great about this game & community is that the P2W whales aren't automatically the voices devs cater to first - we're pretty much ALL invested here, and the level of constructive discourse is WAY higher than I've ever seen in a game forum. That's going to help the devs find the best balance, in the long run, even if it takes several tries.

Thanks to @GamerSeuss @FLeaLoD @BitterLoD in this thread and to everyone who keeps posting constructive ideas, bug data reports, adjunct tools, and helpful critique (I'm looking at you, @Kralith @OlivePit @Nekrage @Harleyyelrah @maze... 😍 👑 👏 ) And of course, to @Specter who is sine qua non around here ❤

It's the start of summer and the end of the test. Depending on where a player is located, restrictions may be lifting at the same time that weather is getting nice. I know I'm spending less time on the forum and more time outside now that I don't have to worry quite so much about it being fatal. #VaccinatedLife

I know this will be probably an unpopular opinion but ....

I want to say thanks, BitterLoD, for posting what you knew wouldn't be a popular opinion. Your opinion matters, whether or not it's generally shared. God knows being popular and being right are not the same thing. 🙄

I wonder whether any of the replies to your post caused you to feel any differently?

There's SO MUCH going on in the Fractured world already and we don't even have the other planets & toonspecies yet! My personal experience is that my little toons find lots to do without even leaving town 🤣

I get the crops watered, harvested, and bagged.... do some crafting/enchanting to upgrade my gear... look around for folks to go adventuring with.... travel to the place where the supplies or mobs we need are... hours go by way too quickly.

As far as skills & talent points go, my experience is that the starter skills for my fighter toon work as well as most of the skills I'd kill mobs for, tbh. The fighter toons need good equipment more than extra skills. Talent points for STR and CON buffs are where I focus, but again, I haven't needed to max anything to be viable so far. There's no squishiness to be overcome, as in most rpg for new PCs, so grinding xp to level isn't a thing.

It may be that grinding xp to level is your jam. Nothing wrong w that, but if so Fractured might not be your game. I really hope you'll play the next few alphas to see whether developments head in a good direction for you. 🖖

    • RE: What are people playing while waiting for the next Alpha?

I'm more a tabletop RPG person than an MMO person, so btw tests I relax with my mobile games.

The one I've played longest is Gems of War, which features match3 turn-based battles with tons of different types of creatures. I highly recommend it as a time-waster and general relaxant 😁 I've got a chill guild and it's got plenty of opportunity for P2W but if a person is just Cheap2Play like me, they can still do quite well.

I'm also following with great interest the development of another MMORPG, based on a tabletop game called Wagadu Chronicles. The universe for this D&D type game is based in African mythos, and I'm totally psyched to learn more about that! Nice change from the usual Euro-fantasy elves and dwarves.

[n.b., I've got nothing against the Eurofantasy thing! I love dragons and Terry Pratchett and D&D all to bits, but the world is a BIG place, and there's a lot of way cool mythos to explore in Africa, Asia, South America, the Middle East... Why limit ourselves, y'know? 🌍 🌏 🌎 ]

    • RE: What are people playing while waiting for the next Alpha?

A co-worker turned me on to a new game in beta available via Steam that I'm really enjoying -
Wildermyth mimics tabletop D&D in many ways (turn based mob slaying w loot etc) but has lots of room for editing/creativity and a fun discord community with devs who are very available.

$25 buy-in but I've definitely gotten my money's worth already and no micro-transaction ads popping up everywhere is a nice change.

If you decide to check it out, look for Arrya Humble on Steam for multiplayer adventuring 🖖

    • RE: Cash Shop idea for the DEVS

      @Cellticlink KUDOS for a great idea! 👍 🍻
Definitely a 'cosmetic' and not a tactical advantage, so right in line with the dev's vision for the game, and I'd definitely pay for that.

As @FibS said, it may not happen for a while, but it's a great thing to have in our back pocket! I'd agree w FibS that battles should either have a common theme or nothing but the battle sfx to avoid distraction/advantage.

    • RE: Alpha 2 February stress test week feedback

I was able to get into the game world yesterday but not today. It's been loading my character for about 10 minutes now. I finally used the task manager to eliminate full screen and let it load in the background.

This is going to sound ridiculously basic, but I don't have the wiki memorized so I was looking for SOME clues about what to do first, next, etc, in-game. No tutorial AND no clues AND no way to access the wiki in-game? As a less than geeky grrrl who wants to play without having to study up first to do it, that's an issue.
And tbh I think it will be an issue for many potential players.

Suggestion: short tutorial OR wikilink for beta

WOW! KUDOs and lotsa FP to @Kralith for this kind of helpful posting. I am so happy to see that this game has community members so thoughtful AND devs who listen. 🏆 🏆 👍 👍

      Want to esp +1 this:
@Kralith said in [A2.1.3 Feedback] Summary and random thoughts about a lovely Alpha:

Chat Auto Scrolling is very annoying, if the chat scrolls out fast and you try to read something somebody answered to you or had a question. Please insert a function, where you can deactivate the Autoscroll and add instead a "Show newest/to Bottom" Button.

I've played games that had less-than-functional chat programs and the constant bitching about it is NOT something you devs want to deal with, I promise. I am happy to see that we already have both local and global chat options, and looking forward to the guild, group, and private msg functions.

Thanks to all who are working so hard to make this a great game.

@Eigus Glad I'm not the only one having trouble with melee. The 3d UI isn't familiar for me at all - I've mostly done builder games and RTS - so I got knocked down a LOT before I figured out how the hot keys worked 🤣 😵

I'm with @KairosVal on this one! Having some code to allow a toon to complete a clearly defined task without it breaking down into a gazillion tiny sub-tasks is exactly the 'eliminate grind' we're hoping for in this game.

Thanks for listening, all you sweet devs! 💋

After I type my password I should be able to hit enter to continue, rather than having to click.

+1 👍 Please, devs. Please, for next test. Thank you.
