      Oho! Maybe you're one of my peeps, then! I don't plan to start up my Beastfolk guild until the actual launch, but my concept is to run a group of guides/caravan protectors on Arboreus, to help merchants and tourists get from place to place without trouble. Let's stay in touch!

      Meanwhile, allow me to recommend the Meridian folk. Great organization and perks for members so far in the alpha tests. Once launched, my guild will probably be in cahoots w them.

      A tavern w/o ale is a barn full of tables. I don't care how many colors the lights are.

      @Psymantis - I empathize with your desire to play solo, even as I recognize that in most worlds there are LOTS of situations that are ridiculous to attempt on one's own. The fact that danger is inherent in the solitary life is why most folks live in groups.

      I'm an odd duck irl - introverted and unable to filter properly for the kind of social popularity that most people seek. In game, I'll have some of the same choices to make as irl - do I put up with other people for safety's sake? Or lose a bunch of loot because a bear got me while I was exploring all by my lonesome? Up to you, pal!

      Some folks in this forum want things to be as realistic as possible and argue endlessly about what things are REALLY LIKE irl - others want a game experience tailored to their preferences even if it creates an unrealistic world.

      I'm just gonna play things as they lay. As long as all the toons have the same challenges, it's part of the game I'm playing, and I can choose to play or to find another game more to my liking.

    • RE: Getting back into action!

      @Chapex - the 'city' mechanic is new, and so far that's been fun to play with for me. We've also been told that ports are part of the plan for this test, which will make traveling easier in some ways, even if they're not fully functional to get to other planets yet.

      There are lots of QOL fixes that I personally wish the devs would make a part of the mix as they go along, but as @Logain says, there are probably good reasons for doing things in a certain order that are way above my pay grade 😉

      In case any devs are listening, my biggest wishes in the QOL department are...

      1. a LOGIN button that works when you hit ENTER after your pw is in
      2. moving the 'close map' X farther from the 'close game' X (I click the wrong X at least twice a week, and last time I was in the middle of the Vale when that happened. I got out alive but just barely)
      3. some way to see where party & guild members are on both maps

      @Hawkshield - we're in early days, hermano. So far, they've just done Myr and the human race. Once all those basic mechanics are where they need to be, the other planets and races will be added.

      I'm using these tests as a way to make all the PC building blunders I don't want to make with my 'real' toon once the launch happens. 😉 The skills tree is a new mechanic for me, and I've already made some dumb mistakes. Luckily, those toons wipe when the test ends.

      Ostaff and Gothix have it exactly right, although one never does know what the devs might do to cultivate buzz as time goes on.

      The critical thing is that any rewards redeemed be available for the actual, 'this time for real' build - some games I've played stayed in a state of PERMA-beta so they could excuse a lot of their bugginess 🙄 😒

      The crew at Fractured doesn't seem like that sort, but there's no telling whether a long beta might edge into the 'real thing' somehow. I'm really excited about the rewards I've earned, and grateful for the whole 'Foundation' set-up. Looking forward to traveling the worlds w my Wolf mount and my gorjus Fire Fendyr 💞 🔥

      Glad you're here and hope you'll roll with it when the playtest starts - it's gonna be a wild ride this time, methinks. There will be blood, but there will also be bugs. Don't panic, ok?

      There's some really helpful video posted by some of our content creators that might help you fare better than jumping in cold. Check out @Nekrage on Youtube and/or @Oxfurd on Twitch

      Also helpful will be a strong guild. I will not promote for mine - they're good enough to promote for themselves and I have no idea what your playstyle is so find a good fit and enjoy the company AND the perks of a well-built city.

      Thanks for a good idea re workaround. I can do this. I was just hoping someone might know. If it was a blunt weapon in the last test, that's good enough for me 🙆

      I have since crafted a warhammer, which is a lovely blunt weapon. DOWN go the wolfpacks in one swing 😉

      @Stacy555 - gonna just spitball a little here. Not disagreeing... just pondering...

      I'm not a designer, but I know how incredible the graphics of new games can be, and I know there's a very lucrative & well-researched science that helps designers use graphics to pull players in and keep them there.

      I totally agree with you - Fractured is NOT making best use of that research & maybe they should use some more! There's no 'halo flash' when I finish a tutorial goal to make me feel special. There's no 'twinkly' to tell me a plant is just what I'm looking for. It does feel dead when a person is used to getting so much stimulus & reinforcement from games. 😕 🙄

      I wonder whether that's purposeful? Going for an old-school feel, or a certain counter-industry-standard aesthetic? Impossible to say. I do know the devs are purposeful about making sure that Fractured is playable on pretty much any old potato, so maybe the low environmental stim is a function of keeping access as broad as poss? Just a hypothesis.

      If that's the case, it's still not working bc my pc struggles with the game sometimes as it is - and I have no way of knowing whether that's my graphix card or a bandwidth issue, so....

      tl:dr: I'm open to more twinkles & graphical joy if I can still get in the game. 🖖

      Gratz on taking that plunge, @Lifeburn! Looks like this next alpha is going to be VERY different.

      I have no idea what will happen, but I'm really psyched to be able to play again. I miss my little toons 😉

      I had planned to avoid housebuilding for this test but the new city set up almost demands that I decide whether to build in town or in a 'residential area', doesn't it?

      Where I used to be able to recharge at a nearby tavern, the cities are much farther apart now, and it's hard to predict what a place by the fire at a city tavern might cost. 🤔

      Good question @RetroPacman! The Fractured universe is planned to be YUUUUGE. The map we're playing in for the alpha is one continent of several on one of 3 planets. There are also asteroidal events being discussed.

      There may well be 'easter eggs' for the true completist. But wherever there's an easter egg, there's probably gonna also be a video someone has made to tell the content-creator's loyal subscribers how to find & exploit it. Amiright, @Nekrage?

      want to +1 the idea of respawn at the temple of a toon's relevant deity. Not all players will be interested in the religious aspect of the game, so having a choice btw the nearest tavern and our toon's god would be great. Thanks, @Prometheus for responding positively to this suggestion!

      GRATZ + KUDOS to @Prometheus & @Oxfurd on a fun and informative collaboration. 👏 👏 👏

      I'm thrilled, of course, that we can finally see party members on our mini-map. But tbh, that was so overdue it's hard to be impressed. I'm just relieved.

      What's amazing and impressing ME is the farming system - with realistic soil nutrition and irrigation parameters and a good variety of crops to plant in rotation for best yields and trading.
      Just WOW, guys. Great job. 👑 🏆 🍻 💕

      I can hardly wait to help set this up in Zenith! 🌽 🥕 🥔 🍉
