    • RE: Power Gap Struggles

      I think the problem here is "expectations" of what the game actually is. The problem is that the devs did indeed say "solo" play available, however they are clearly not going that route to the "extent" that some of the "solo" players are envisioning. From the way the game is being designed, I just can not see the devs ever allowing a "pure" solo experience (nor do I care to see that in any MMO), however, if you are part of a community then you will be able to go "solo" at times because the community will have given you what you need in order to do so.

      This game is quite clearly CITY dependant, which means it will definitely be "community" dependant. Even if they did sprinkle non-city controlled nodes around, true solo players will still not be able to do much because the citizens of near-by cities will farm those spots and if its contested which it most definitely will be then a solo player has no chance in winning against the vast mobs that will be storming there.

      I keep hearing the same complaints about allowing "PURE" soloism and the devs have definitely answered with "not gonna happen". However, for those who wish to play SOLO but don't mind being PART of a community, those players will thrive as they will have the ability to obtain everything they wish for and they should be allowed to. The devs have made this possible, they have made it so that a citizen of a city does not have to live within that city, there are mobs that are easily killed by a solo player, and a player can make the things that they need to survive off of the environment. But a player can not thrive in any measure of the word unless they are willing to be a part of a community.

    • RE: An Opinion on the game so far - Hand of Unity [HoU] Response

      @LordRellik

      Aye, I also am mostly pleased with the development of this test. It by far has been the best one they have made. And likewise, I think they seriously need to work on the QoL of things before adding too much more to the game. They are small things (better collision algorithms that have haunted us since day one ... YES.. talking about you TREES, corpses, and WALLS), working permissions (They fixed this last test and like a lot of the bugs this test, they were ALL fixed last test but here they are again!), movement (major killer here, its a very unhealthy movement system currently, even without the darn interrupting trees, its real life physically unhealthy), keybinding (those A and S keys!!! ARG the WORST!!! right in there with all our combat skills keys and total fight breakers).

      Also, they introduced a bug with skills this test where some skills just quite literally would never go off. A major bug that needs fixing, I believe.

      With that said, thank you devs for adding mini map Party markers!!!! (finally!!!), and the game play has been over all better than the last few tests.

      I believe, if the devs can add the QoL MUST HAVES to the game, we will be swarming in lots of new players cause the game will be the best that is out there today 🙂 and all the rest is mostly just balancing which will be covered over the life span of the tests. But the devs need to stop using their "hot keys" so much and learn what the "players" actually have to go through so they will see exactly what we are complaining about and why they need to fix them.

    • RE: shitty game

      I must say... I was actually impressed that @insomnia actually came back to READ the replies to his post.... I mean, if he truly felt the way he posted wouldn't he have not just left entirely? No reason to come back. Coming back tells us that his true intention was just to try to piss people off.

      I had already ignored this thread, but heck.. after seeing so many people reply back to it... lol.. I just had to come check it out. Glad I did 🙂

      It also says wonders when the developers or moderators have not deleted this thread as well. It means that they are open minded and are not phased by this dribble.

      I agree with everything @GamerSeuss says.

      I don't see them changing the whole "you have to loot your corpse before it degrades in order to retain your items" methodology. The only thing they may have different is a full loot vs partial loot vs no loot depending on what plant you are on. Its pretty easy to see where their main game mechanics are already implement and I seriously doubt they will change any of it. So people who complain about "losing loot", isometric only view, click movement, three different play styles and NOT being only PvP or only PvE, and city centric and not pure solo friendly are only complaining against a hard steel wall annoying the rest of us.

      @munch

      for starters this is not a PURE PvP game, and at the same time this is NOT a PURE PvE game. So both parties have to be catered to.

      With that said, as I've stated before, the devs won't remove the "lose you loot when your body decomposes" as that is in the game design and the devs have been very frank in stating that they will not change their base game design. We have the option to allow our corpses to be looted by "party", "guild" or "public". So in the event we do not think we are able to make it back, someone else can get to it. Yes a pure soloist with literally no friends or community on here will be out of luck, but this game is not made for a pure soloist, so a player will have a party or guild member to rely on to get their corpses most the time.

      The only thing I have seen the devs teeter on is the looting of a corpse when the player was pk'd, and that we may see being different depending on what planet you are on or the same across the board.

      @Kralith

      Yes.. I very much prefer their current death system as opposed to their prior death system. This one is much smoother and a lot less confusing all around. No one spams the chats asking "what the hell is this yellow bar? stamina?"

      talking about upkeep.. I think it would be nice if any citizen could "deposit" the upkeep, and only VG and above could "remove" instead of only VGs and above being able to do anything with the upkeep.

    • RE: fun or no im asking

      @GamerSeuss

      Personally, I would choose Baldur's Gate III, Dark Souls III, Dragon's Dogma, Pillar's of Eternity over any MMO for solo play. Those are games geared toward a solo player with the ability to add in "friends" or others on a casual basis. MMO's in my opinion are meant to be played in groups, its why they are Massive Multiplayer games... so even though there may be a few occasional times where I may go at it alone in a MMO due to time restraints or other.... I find the best experience of MMOs actually coming from the comradery with others and building something much bigger than I could do alone. It's like going to an amusement park alone versus going to one with friends... yeah.. sure.. yipee... amusement park rides may be alright when riding them alone or with complete strangers, but they get much much more interesting and fun when you actually go there with friends! Same for cruises and experiences in general. Why sell yourself short? When something is ment to be shared and experienced with others... do so. The experiences are just that much more satisfying.

      @FluffKugel

      That is indeed what a MMO is suppose to be. A game where you have fun with "friends", rather they are people you already know or people you met while playing the game and got to know.

      Playing with "people" is what makes an MMO fun!!!! 🙂

      @GamerSeuss

      I have NEVER seen an MMO where the vast majority of players were NOT in a guild. Over all, the number of active non-guilded players who are above the "newbie" level could be counted with limited digits.

      @grofire

      I think you both misunderstood what I wrote.

      An angel and Abomination are no longer classified as their starting race, hence they are "exiled" from their home planet and must fine residency on the opposite planet. And while different races can go to other planets, you will more than likely only ever see ALL the races together on Syndesia at the same time (and on asteroids when they pass by).

    • RE: How hyped are you?

      @Razvan

      I agree. I just can not see how a true horizontal mechanic could ever work for an MMORPG. RPG require growth, and growth means that you are better than what you original started as. Without it, they are indeed nothing but a battle royal.

      @SirDiddle said in How hyped are you?:

      atively new to mmorpgs, but isn't this game not very close to true horizontal? The talent tree + knowledge system seems to give a decent amount of room to grow

      That is actually what I was trying to say.... I believe it was at the start of this thread that I had stated that the developers had actually lied when they said it was going to be horizontal where a newbie could take on a veteran.

      The only way to have a "horizontal" game is to not have any growth which is exactly what Overwatch and those battle royal games are. An MMORPG by nature, has to have vertical growth.

      The store items are indeed account bound and not character bound. Specter answered this question for us quite a while back, cause we were very curious about it as well.
