@therippyone I think we are on the same page. I think you should get a background with pre-chosen skills, exactly the way that they are envisioning it. I agree that you shouldn't be able to just choose any skills to begin with. I just think that after choosing a background, you should get an option of a pre-made stat allocation, or the ability to choose them yourself. That way more casual players just trying out the game can choose something that prevents them from totally screwing up their initial set-up.

RE: Mouse / Keyboard control
Actually, I'm hoping for a "force move" key like Diablo has. I like that best in isometric games. I don't think WASD would work well with isometric, but I've never tried it.
Edit: I guess Path of Exile has it, too. However, you have to give up a skill slot for it, which seems kind of nuts.
Edit #2: Also Grim Dawn and Torchlight II according to the web.
So this is a very standard ability in isometric games. Hope we get it.

RE: I want this type of 'environment interaction'!
Not sure if this is possible without voxel technology (think Minecraft) and the only MMO that has tried it was Landmark. (At least the only MMO that looked as good as that renderer). Landmark was a beautiful game and the building was amazing, but I literally had to buy a new computer to play it.

Welcome, FrilliKing! That's exactly why I'm excited about this game, too!

RE: Importance of attributes triggering repetition?
@therippyone The more I think about it, the more I wish that they would let you choose your background first to establish your basic skills, then give you a choice between a pre-built stat allocation based on your background or choosing your stats yourself. If you hadn't researched the game much, you would probably opt for the pre-built stats. If you had a specific build in mind, you would opt for choosing them yourself.
I think that that would probably keep everyone happy.
In addition, they should give respecs any time that they do MAJOR balancing to the point of borking certain builds.

RE: Alpha 1 Map & Pledge Integration
Wow, thanks so much! Looks great!

RE: Wow, a redesigned main page!
Yep. Very nice. Also the KS pledges got integrated!

RE: Importance of attributes triggering repetition?
I'm still much more concerned about new players not understanding that they need to get their stats up to 10. Actually, if the min-maxxers manage to find "best builds" that are really that much better, then the devs have failed at one of their tasks - keeping the PVP even between veterans and newcomers.

RE: Importance of attributes triggering repetition?
I see two groups who will want to be able to respec.
One is the new person who just decides to try the game out, doesn't really pay attention to the stats at first because he doesn't think he'll play it long, then discovers that he's got a truly borked build when he decides that he wants to continue playing. People like that should get one free respec to do it right.
The other group is the min-maxxers. I don't think that min-maxxers should get respecs at all if they are just trying to figure out what will give them 1% extra power.
I see a huge difference between the player that is dabbling for a few hours, then decides he wants to get serious, and the player that is trying to wring every last bit of power out of a build, and wants to change his stats around constantly.
Maybe doing something like one free respec after 10 hours of play, that disappears if you haven't used it by the time you hit 15 hours of play.
Maybe in addition to letting people choose their own allocations at the beginning of the game, the devs could offer a few preset stat allocations, and just name them "General spellcaster", "General warrior", etc. That way, more hardcore people could build their own theory-crafted stat allocations, and more casual minded players could just choose a preset stat allocation that will be good enough for most activities.

RE: So there will be a skin cash shop (part 2)
@therippyone I'm sure that all those would be popular, but I'm not sure I'm interested in those in an isometric game. The transmogs in D3 for example, are really only apparent during the loading screens.
I think in an isometric game you need really large changes for skins, such as mounts (or wings, banners, etc.)

RE: Future Spotlights Content - Vote Your Favorite Topics!
@prometheus Any chance that our Kickstarter accounts will be linked at the same time? And/or the cash shop?
-
RE: So there will be a skin cash shop (part 2)
I voted other, because it would depend on the skins. I would probably buy different skins for my mount (or even my pets if such a thing existed), but I'm not all that interested in armor and weapon skins.

RE: New to MMO's, this looks interesting.
Hi Cambition! I certainly have gotten tired of "traditional MMO's". Hope you have a great time here!
