Mimi startled as she felt someone touch her arm
"Need anything for the road?" asked a middling merchant woman, gesturing to her wagon loaded up with food, wine, and all manner of items, "You're doing us a favor helping with the escort so I'll give you a good price."
Mimi shook her head, "I think I'll be ok." then remembered how cold it had been the previous night "Actually if you have a warm coat I'd be happy to trade, nothing too fancy. Maybe you've something with a little wear on it?"
"Nonsense" scoffed the merchant eyeing Mimi critically before pulling out a thick woolen long coat in a striking shade of green, "This would suit nicely." and after a pause, "You don't look like you've been far from home long. I don't suppose you brought anything with you? Supplies from Arboreus are expensive to ship."
Mimi checked the pouch at her waist and pulled out a few bulbs she had collected and had been intending to plant, "These are from the Sun Lilly plant that grows around my home, the bulb can be crushed and used to craft healthful tonics, or you can plant it and wait for the flowers which are used in a sweet liquor."
The merchant gave Mimi a smile and handed her the cloak, taking the bulbs in her other hand. "Thank you little one. My name's Pharla. Call out if you or your party need anything else." and with a cheerful wave she moved onto the next wagon.
Mimi ran her fingers over her new cloak feeling the dense woolen layers and smiled, a much nicer coat than I should have been able to trade for.
"Have you brought much else from home Telwath? When were you there last?" Mimi asked, turning to her new friend.
I agree with @Jetah - it's unlikely there will be that level of character customisation in this game.
This is beautiful @Greenfire , thanks for the tips.
Can you recommend a particular brand of lubricant to fit so many devs up your ass?
And is there an optimal dev rotation or can you just wack them in in any order?
I'm so over it
Lesson learned for me: Never read discord/forums/ANYTHING before that first cup of coffee.
@esoba
Everyone would feel that way - which is why I don't think it will be anything other than a figurehead position.
I don't think the "king of Syndesia" or "Soul of Arboreus" will have anything more than what is in the kickstarter description.
Because of that I don't think there will be a city ruler system.
A guild might be able to run the city but I don't think there will be attainable king/queen positions.
If someone pledges $10k towards the game I don't think there will be a way to overthrow them.
Not sure if they're going for a King/Queen political system in the game because of this.
I guess we'll see
Rather than an in game bounty system I'd love to see more people taking advantage of mercenary guilds or setting one up themselves.
Being a sandbox game they will avoid any kind of quest setup etc.
The economy is 100% community driven, I'd love to see the same thing with bounties - no NPC's at all.
If I was rich I would be forever known as Mimi, Soul of Arboreus
Check out the $10k pledge pack on the kickstarter
"You and me both, gorgeous." Emma said wryly, passing the woman a drink, "Just yell out if you need more, my name's Emma."
Weaving between the tables, Emma picked up a few empty cups absentmindedly and considered checking if Stanos had received her message. He would normally have sent someone by now, and as if on cue the next cup she picked up seemed stuck to the table. Expecting this, she gave the cup a practiced twist, looking as though nothing was out of the ordinary and moved back to the bar. Turning the cup over she saw Stanos' sigil etched into it's base, message received, shame about those beast-kin, they seemed nice. But work is work.
How embarrassing Mimi chuckled to herself looking at Malyvern, this certainly wont be a dull journey.
Casting one last look back toward the town in search of Rikki, Mimi turns and follows Telwath and Malyvern. "They look different, don't you think?" she asked Malyvern, gesturing towards Glim and his beast-kin, "They seemed relaxed before but now it's like they have a purpose, they look like they have a lot of pride in their work."
Malyvern nodded in agreement and opened his mouth to answer but a final POP from the wagon cut him short and he sighed instead.
"They were beautiful fireworks, Malyvern." Mimi said and trotted a little to catch up with Telwath.
Malyvern smiled.
Emma glowered at the mages table and brushed the crow feathers off the bar, pouring a drink for a newcomer.
Noting the Erwydras interest, she sighed outnumbered tonight.
I doubt they would have an actual physical in-game bounty board - but there are these forums, and discord servers and who knows what else where people can offer groups in game currency/items to kill other players
Whether it's in game or out of game - it will happen
Emma sighed dramatically, I really should ask this Demon to leave. If we start loosing patrons because he's "bothering people" I'm sure to cop the blame. But, Stanos does like odd stories, and this is certainly an odd fellow.
Pouring the house ale for the Erwdyra, she smiles politely "You're the third of your kind through these parts in the last few days, what bring you so far from home?"
Emma rolled her eyes, Mages are all the same. Get a few drinks in them and all they want to do is one up each other.
"No! No battles in this tavern!" Emma slapped her hand on the counter for emphasis, just in case they'd had so much liquor they thought she was kidding. "If you even think-" Emma was cut off as Esher let out a high pitched, manic giggle and conjured a whirlwind of flame to dance and flicker in the palm of his hand, How much has this Demon had to drink?
Emma eyed the burly mercenary they had hired to help out with unruly customers, wondering if she should call him over. Thankfully he looked sober this time...
Failing to get even the slightest grin from her, Esher sobered, looking disappointed and the flame sputtered out.
Turning to the approaching Erwydra, she smiled wryly, "What can I get for you, darlin'?"
((OOC - as Mimi has left on an adventure to Avermore with the Rhila Trading Company I am introducing a new character to this thread. Emma, a young human woman who has worked at The Arcanist's Mill for the last few years. She is apprenticed to a local assassin - but no one knows this - and uses her time at the tavern to keep an eye on newcomers and learn whatever she can))
Emma walked downstairs from her small room on the upper floors of The Arcanist's Mill, still tired even after her nap. Stretching her arms slowly above her head she mused about the events of the following day before checking her appearance in a nearby window reflection, straightening her dress.
I need to get word to Stanos, he would be interested to know the Rhila is due to depart soon.
Routine is everything to Emma, she doesn't appreciate surprises but she is a master at pretending they don't worry her, so when she cast a glance over the patrons in the Tavern and spotted several demons, some mages opening practicing at her bar, and even a couple of beast-kin, no one would have noticed even the slightest change in her expression. She settled herself behind the bar and approached the noisy group of magic users.
Looking sternly at the mages Emma raised a skeptical brow, "Ok you lot, if I see a single scorch mark, stain, or otherwise un-explainable thing on this bar that wasn't there before you'll have the owner chasing you down. Understood?"
"Oh, that's beautiful!" Mimi beamed at Telwath, happy to have found another beast-kin who shared her passion for helping others, "Glim certainly looks more relaxed now we're far from the tavern!"
Looking towards their wagon Mimi is happy to see Glim watching over his men, a look of stern pride in his eyes.
"Where are Malyvern and Rikki? Did they sleep in?" Looking around Mimi sees Malyvern near one of the trading companies wagons talking to a tall, dark haired man and looking a little worse for wear, ok, so where's Rikki?
