@Prometheus I've noticed that a wide variety of mobs will just stand there and take it if they leashed back, or started to. It's not consistent enough to know exactly what triggers it, though I believe I've always seen this behavior either during or after a leash.

RE: Whats the probability this game will actually see beta and a release?
From seeing the development from phase to phase, their open communication and roadmaps, and their attention to the community and fixing bugs; it doesn't feel like they're slowing down any time soon. These are all good signs!
If this does fail, I think @Prometheus will have broken my heart harder than my wallet (Immortal pledge.)

RE: Life leech on spells / enchants / buff abilities
@Razvan said in Life leech on spells / enchants / buff abilities:
@Manaia
Usually life leech for spells and physical damage are treated differently. Besides you compare a spell that is meant to replenish your HP while damaging the enemy to a feature that offers passive healing based on the damage done for melee weapons. And no, combat doesn't always favor people with attack speed - if it worked that way, there was no point in 2h weapons. Replenishing a flat amount of HP per hit favors weapons with higher attack speed.
Regarding passive healing based on damage done, I said this about that in my first post:
"As long as they keep it a static formula and not "you gain x% life for all damage you do, ever" then it should be fine."
This kind of healing ALWAYS becomes broken.Regarding your comment of attack speed - two people with the same 2H weapon, the one with attack speed is still very likely to have the advantage

RE: Coordinates wrong in negative W
@TheBodo It's a standard coordinate system, the W and N are directional replacements for X and Y, or Longitude and Latitude. That's why there isn't a S and E value - because that would be pointless.

50 chance it'll release.
50 chance it won't.
I'm not sure that's quite accurate...just because it's yes or no doesn't mean they have equal value in 50/50.

RE: If you buy BETA 2 access, can you play NOW
@Recoil That doesn't sound like something they'd be interested in. It sounds like they want a game that's like other "beta" games which is the full release that just needs fixed bugs/polish that they can play whenever, instead of during the testing periods.

RE: Pro tip: Blocking users hides all of their posts, forever
@Gothix I'm pretty much the same! Blocking spammers is the only real reason I block people, for the same reasons - it prevents you from seeing chat. And quite frankly, I don't need to see "Leerooooooooooooy Jenkiiiiiiiiins" for several years, or "Did somebody say [Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker]" - or any other flavor of the month memes that are out. It's also not a good coping mechanism; blocking anyone for disagreeing with you or getting into an argument doesn't build social skills either - which can be a big part of an MMORPG!

Hello from California!
Hey guys, just discocvered this game and it looks amazing!
I can't wait for more news updates and to be able to dive into it when it's out! Whether I do alpha, beta, or release!Trying to get some of my other friends interested in it as well!
We've got til 2021 for the full release, so I've got time to convert them -
RE: If you buy BETA 2 access, can you play NOW
@Gothix said in If you buy BETA 2 access, can you play NOW:
Well betas are usually "open" for longer periods than "alphas".
Alphas in MMOs tend to go down much more often for increased maintenance and updates. Generally as you come closer to release, play testing periods last longer and longer.
It's not that they're going down for downtime, they're only available for those specific testing periods. I believe they started that they want everyone to test the new features together and avoid burnout during content lulls. It allows more focus from the players instead of just opening the doors and keeping them open.

False. It will or will not happen. It's 50/50.
Two outcomes doesn't mean it's a 50/50 though.
A 99/1 STILL has two outcomes. That's like saying you have a 50/50 chance of dying today because you're either alive or dead Jesus Christ, how people live longer than a month is a statistical anomaly at a 50/50 rate! -

I thought u ment a mobile app to craft when afk before opening the thread... and now I want a app to craft while afk and run a smithing shop
Mobile app integration can be good if implemented correctly; though I wouldn't want to be able to do too much with it to make it too distracting working/driving (unfortunately)/etc. Maybe check stations at your house to see timers; check to see if your markets sold anything (if that's in the game), and check guild chat like the WoW Armory app did. I wouldn't want anything to be intractable, just visible. Limit distractions. Remove "have to play from phone to win" mentality.

@Jetah I've always agreed with that. What I disagreed with is it's not a 50% chance.

RE: Concerns related to the attributes
@Tuoni Some people like putting in the time and effort of planning a character, others would rather be able to correct their lack of planning in-game. It appears we're on opposite sides of this. And character identity is NOT a small problem in an RPG. You don't have to be a role player to still appreciate character identity.
And yes, once all the knowledge is attained, it's 100% possible to swap classes every 10 minutes depending on how attribute resetting is done. Also, just because you aren't min/maxed to USE a skillset doesn't mean you CAN'T use it. Which again, boils down to a jack-of-all-trades of having balanced stats vs min/maxing.
If they have attribute resets, character identity is lost. One solution to address this would be to make it a gradual thing; remove one attribute point to go into an attribute pool (so stat weights still apply) and being able to add one point a week or something. Then from a character identity standpoint it's a transition and effort, not as simple as "lol this build sux new build plx" and you're completely different.
If they don't have attribute resets, just make a balanced character if you don't want to knowledge grind on alts
Enchanting can help you hit those higher level stats.

@Jetah We'd best ready ourselves with the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch!
If I see a rabbit, I can't assume it's an ordinary rabbit! It's the mouse foul beast I'd ever set eyes on! -
RE: Concerns related to the attributes
@Roccandil The stats are fairly common among other RPG's, especially dungeons and dragons. Though we can't expect new players to know D&D, we can expect tooltips to explain what stats do and the new players ability to read what they do. They can create an informed decision based off of that, to the fantasy of how they'd like to build their character. If there are issues with ability balancing, that's a different issue than just straight up rerolling to be something else.
And they can experience the game on their first character to learn it, there's nothing wrong with that. That's literally how the gaming industry used to be - in Super Mario Bros. 2 (US Release) you didn't know the differences of each of the four characters - you chose the one that resonated with you. You could still beat the game with every character, they just had different perks. You can use another character (such as an alt) to get perks for specific levels if you wanted. It'd just be weird if Luigi had Princess Toadstool's hover perk! Or if Princess Toadstool had Luigi's flutter jump! It'd remove all sense of character identity and it wouldn't matter which skin you decided to use.
In the end, these viewpoints are on two different sides of the spectrum. Since it's an RPG though I'd -hope- that character identity is meaningful though.

RE: Death and what it entails
I rather enjoy the system of no repairs, it puts more emphasis on the materials/reagents rather than the currency. Unless the repairs work like Conan Exiles and you use the materials/reagents required to craft it. That'd be a good form of repair - but not like WoW where you just throw currency at it.

@Manaia
In other words, a person who can change between tank and mdps, or healer and arcanist, will be more desirable than a minmaxed one who can only cover one role. This will allow a lot of flexibility for guild members.Alts cover this just as well, if not better. You can have all three of those ready at the go, instead of having to go through the respec process. In this kind of situation, I'd much rather have multiple alts on the ready rather than having to constantly respec. Though, I very much likely wouldn't be in that situation, but they do happen. Alts have A LOT of different uses, I'm not saying that alts are the end-all-be-all for respecing due to different alt uses or that me using them in this specific scenario means others will. I'm just saying that it's an in-game option that doesn't require instant respecing.
Your STR example is absolutely out of question because we'll have transport mounts.
Mount weight + your weight = more. More str is still more items. Also, not everyone is going to have a transport mount the minute they log into the game. While it's likely not applicable, it was a quick example that is more relatable for people who haven't been able to play Fractured yet. Would it have had been better to say int so the entire guild can farm wisps for relocate instead?
I don't really like being able to change a point every 2 weeks either because it is too slow.
It was a proof of concept, insert X amount of time. Perhaps make it a background-passive thing instead, the more stat redistribution the longer it takes. Then you log off with them for the counter to go and you can either do other things IRL or use an alt in-game while the time passes.
If my main class gets nerfed, I want to be able to change it immediately.
There are no classes. You mean if an ability is nerfed? You can change those immediately to use another one you have learned
I highly doubt they'll butcher an ENTIRE stat to the point where it's unplayable.
In my opinion, we should get a free respec with every major patch (or every few months).
Having it be a paid service (like WoW as example) would be fine by me, in addition the a gradual change. It still gives the players an option to immediately respec if the gradual is too slow and they can't use an alt for that purpose.

RE: shitty game
@insomnia said in shitty game:
What a shitty game. What incompetent retards thinks it's a good idea to give people useless gear and make it a pain to get better. You do fuck all damage as a "warrior". Yet you don't seem to be able to get a better weapon. When you die, you revive weaker, making you die faster. If you respawn at a city, you lose all your shit. So now i have to run where i was, with no gear! This game deserves to fail. What a pile of garbage. I died and have to spend what! 20 fucking minutes or so, i would guess, because on top of this shit. Traveling is ridiculesly slow. And you have no idea where your corpse is
I'm sorry you feel like that.
This is why you research products before you buy them; or if you got a free key for a game you have no idea what it's about...still on you buddy. -

Nah man, that's unacceptable in an MMO! Not only do you need to be able to be good at everything, but you need to be able to solo everything as well apparently!
