See, this is what I fail to understand. Your Erwydra (hart-kin) has a maximum of 15 Strength, whereas your Nheedra (bear-kin) has a maximum of 20 Strength. You state that this is fine and the difference doesn't make your character 'useless'.
At the same time, people in this thread argue that if their Human has 14 Strength it would be useless as a 'balanced viable spear mdps', because others might have 18 Strength. -

I agree with you.
My point is that you can never have that though.There are restrictions by race, which are going to be as punishing as a wrong attribute distribution. Like I mentioned, the difference between 21 Strength and 15 Strength (depends on the kind of demon you pick) is just as bad as the difference between 18 Strength and 12 Strength. Hence people are always forced to create a new character, even if you implement a fluid change over time. You'd invest a lot of development time and gain nothing.

You just argued against yourself. There is no less expansive content for developers than having people create a second or third character because they were unhappy with their first one.

Could you elaborate on the difference between having Strength at 21 instead of 15 and having Strength at 18 instead of 12?

The point I was trying to make is that there's two possible routes suggested in the thread so far. One, completely free attribute resets, the other 'somewhat expansive attribte resets, possibly over time'. Both of these suggestions are a result of the desire to avoid having to create additional characters once the player chooses to try a different 'build'. However, with races and their impact, you would still have to create multiple characters if the race you choose doesn't suite your desired experience. Hence, the question, if the effect isn't as desired, why not leave the situation as is?

I've got to confess that I'm slightly puzzled there. Fractured was elected to be part of the special SpatialOS 'free testing credit' program right? Does that no longer exist and you're only getting the 'normal basic free w4_r1000_e10 instance'? Or why are you seeing these issues when the whole unique selling proposition of SpatialOS is scaling well?

again, i'm not even sure where you brought up race as the discussion isn't about that.
Because, as @Yitra and I pointed out, race has far more impact in Fractured than 'aesthetics'? Different race comes with different attributes. The whole point and argumentation in this thread is that people can't be bothered to create more than one character and should be allowed to change their attributes to always have the perfect attribute distribution for the build they want to play with currently. Now, if you are stuck with your race, even if you would be allowed to redistribute your attributes and you could not change your race as well, you'd still be in the same 'bad' position you are now and would have to create a new character, since you still wouldn't have achieved the goal you wanted, to have the best possible attribute distribution for a new build.

So if people don't want to rebuild characters, they also need to give the option to change your (sub) race.

Race has as high an influence on attributes as 'redistributing' does. So, if people argue that they don't want to create three different characters to end up with an attribute distribution they like, the same would be valid for 'race' as well. BUT with the difference that races are very intervened with the gameplay experience you are looking for (Beastman play a lot different from Demon by design), hence you can not just 'exchange them' without severely redesigning the game as such (including the exploration aspect of knowledge). -

That's kind of exactly the problem I intended to highlight and discuss.
But even if you are play-testing 'archetypes', you'd have to have a 'race'. How would you handle that during your suggested initial testing? -

In a competitive environment, optional choice can become mandatory through the generated benefits. This is the case here as well, if you can change attributes, you have to do so, since people who don't are at a severe disadvantage in a player versus player situation.

That said, how would you handle 'races'? Since people here seem to despite the consequences of the initial choice on attributes for their gameplay, it would appear that shouldn't be much different for their choice of race (since it has an equal effect on attributes and hence gameplay)? -

Have you ever tried to join a poker tournament, then tried to argue that you should be allowed to join in again if you lost your money, because it doesn't change anything for the other players? Have you argued with open world free for all PvPers that PvPn should be consensual only, because it changes nothing for their experience?
