RE: Looting? Pickpocketing? Or Lock picking & Burglary

(...)I'm completely lost now.
Guess my best bet is to shut up and wait(...)I didn't intend to confuse you, but if you can tell me where exactly I wasn't making myself clear, maybe I could try and rephrase what I said?
I'm going to try and use an example (no offense intended with the names!):
humerous - Beastman has plenty of wood, but wants iron and clay
Gothix - Human has plenty of clay, but wants wood and iron
Logain - Demon has plenty of iron, but wants wood and clayGothix wants to make some money, he and his guild spend one week to collect all the required items to create a temporary portal leading from the Human planet to the Beastman planet. Now they can send a certain amount of people (let's say 50) over there including what they can carry (which isn't much). They all pack themselves with clay, because they know it can't be found on the Beastman planet. They sell the clay (or get killed), the clay is used to create some special armor/weapon that helps Beastman fight against the evil Ice Golem, which is very difficult with armor/weapons made out of wood. But the items only last a specific time (fighting with weapon/armor makes them break after a while). Let's say it takes a week for the items to break. Let's say 50 Humans could carry enough clay to produce 100 'clay sets', so you had 100 Beastman with that special set, but after that week, Gothix would have to come back and deliver more clay. But since it took their guild a week to collect the items to create the portal, he's not willing to do it that often. And clay stays a rather rare item on the Beastman planet.
Does that make any sense to you?

(...)Let's say I'm transporting a bunch of our hypothetical items from Arb to Tar and get PKed and robbed half way through(...)
There is no 'half way through'. You are not 'walking' from 'Arb to Tar', you gather a large amount of ingredients (which means it is not going to happen often and is likely a group effort), then you summon a portal with these ingredients and you are there. You can't get killed half way, you are either on Arb, or on Tar. The limiting factor is how often people summon a portal to get to the other planet and how much they can carry while doing so.

(...)minimal risk in transporting it from Arb to Tar(...)
You assume that you can simply travel from one to the other at a whim any time of the day. That's not the case though, since we were told traveling from one planet to another requires plenty of effort and resources (likely a group effort). You know, like back in the days when you had to take a long, dangerous journey to get goods from here to there, the guilds transporting these goods made a fortune.

RE: May 2020 Open Playtest
@Razvan said in May 2020 Open Playtest:
Will this replace the planned june test, or it is a separate test?
If you click on the link that leads to the announcement, you find the following at it's end:
'(...)Alpha 2 – Test 3 is coming in June though, so if you’re a backer with Alpha access, you’ll be able to start or join a city soon(...)'
This is separate.@Prometheus said in May 2020 Open Playtest:
(...)These decisions will also be based on how much support the system gets during these tests(...)
I'd guess that massively depends on how it is being advertised and how 'ready and fun' PvP is compared to other activities. If people have to read stuff to know they can join a militia, don't count on too much participation.

(...)does this mean that not being part of a militia, will keep you safe from other people attacking you at random(...)
And as an additional question, is there any benefit to being in a militia (in the test/planned for the final game), other than basically having enabled PvP?

(...)I don't know how to feel about Dynamight not being open enough about such a crucial design detail(...)
It's on their front page, as description of how the game is going to be designed.
I'm not sure they could be ANY more open about it? ('Why is Fractured unique? (...)Jump right into the fray from day one. Defeat your enemies through your own skill and cleverness, not equipment or level(...)').@humerus said in Looting? Pickpocketing? Or Lock picking & Burglary:
(...)If all gear is pretty equal in it's rarity(...)
That's only true globally, but you have to remember that you can not act, nor trade globally. What is 'rare' to the Demon on their planet is rather abundant to the Beastman, but what is very common for the Demon can be hardly (if at all) found by the Beastman on their own planets. So, if a Beastman wants that (as an example...) firesword, there would be expansive trade with the brave adventurer who dared travel to the other planet, or the Beastman would have to venture there all by themselves. Which is where what you'd normally have as 'progress' come into play. Exploration. Instead of going to 'level 76 gated territory and finding level 76 loot, you decide to explore a new territory which (possibly) is a test to your current set of equipment, because your equipment wasn't made to be used under the circumstances there.

Just two examples where Prometheus actually mentions exactly that. There's more, but I thought two should be enough to convince people. If you're using the search function, the keyword gear, filtered by Prometheus is rather enlightening.

Congratulations to all winners!
Keep posting and having luck, or fun, or both -

(...)I will deal with it/work around it.
Since you can decide to opt out/in on PvP by simply playing as Beastman, that shouldn't be all too tricky really. And that also means you likely would be in a large group when traveling to another planet as well, so 'ganking' you would be very, very tricky, as we have been told cross planet travel requires some considerable effort and hence is likely not done solo.

RE: Daily Message posting
Pets poor website on the shoulder, it's ok being migrated, don't worry.
-
RE: Website & Forum Migration Completed
Good luck on all the upcoming fixes, I hope they won't distract you too much from the game. It's a good call to get a new log-in server up and running now though, so you have a good chance to cope with future high traffic.

RE: Will food rot?
That's one of these 'balance' things that likely can only be answered after we saw the full implementation and effect of food (including benefits and drawbacks). Right now food is both rather meaningless and incredibly easy to get next to everywhere, but that's obviously subject to change.

RE: Week 119 - Weekly Drawing Winners
Congratulations to all winners!
Keep posting and being lucky -
RE: when will it drop?
Take the roadmap @Recoil linked with a bit of caution though. One can not exactly predict game development and even though Fractured is still somewhat doing ok with the schedule, 2022 (or later) is a more realistic target if you want to a void being disappointed.

RE: Long Time Lurker
Welcome to Fractured!
Good luck on finding a city/guild, I'd guess you probably want to look for people who are going to be playing Beastman (due to the PvP restriction)? -
RE: Greetings!
Be greeted fellow unknown adventurer!
May luck be on thy way! -
RE: Top 100
Congratulations!
Now you have to conquer, sorry, I meant get voted in for one of the biggest player cities and you're one step closer to becoming ruler of the world -
RE: Details on inter-planetery travel for each race
I'm not exactly sure what you'd define as drawbacks and benefits. Do you mean per race, such as this: '(...)Demons are a notable exception to this rule, having been gifted by Babilis the ability to travel to other worlds more easily to bring terror to the other much hated races. However, the penalties they’ll be subject to are no smaller than those suffered by the other races… and sometimes, actually worse.'
Or do you mean the benefits of traveling, which would be getting access to new knowledge, unlocking new skills and possibly collecting materials that you can't find on your home planet, together with the thrill of adventure and PvP combat?
