    • RE: Support/Healer type builds

I am normally playing a healer/support in most every game where that's possible and 'useful'. Honestly, I'm not yet sure if healer is going to be of much use in Fractured, healing yourself is very easy and healing others can hardly cope with that. That's why I am looking forward to the bonus effects of Wolfkind, which could possibly end at least somewhere close to 'support'. And... who knows, maybe when balancing starts, healers actually become a viable profession.

(...)Just think of all those wagons we will have to be toting around to be able to carry all that bread and STONES(...)

Well, we already know that 'preparation for exploration' is one of the concepts supporting the idea of horizontal progression in Fractured, so that is to be expected to an extent? That said, there's going to be plenty more social hubs (cities) around these areas, which, according to the developers, are meant to be used as 'closest base' and hence can drastically reduce the specific amounts to be carried.

(...)Making bandages, armor and weapons seem to teach the same mechanics imho.

Most certainly! But you never know where an adventurer is headed. Remember that there are areas where there's no food resource, so it's likely best to have the first step be creation of a food supply that lasts you for about an hour. That's ample time to get you going past the tutorial.

    • RE: Why bake bread?

During the first open test, people had issues that no 'tutorial' existed, holding their hand to teach them the basics. The developers listened to that feedback and implemented a short tutorial. Baking bread is simply the most trivial form of conveying gathering resources and crafting, which is why the fields are marked as hotspots on the map.

    • RE: Shields are nearly worthless.

Remember that we're still in Alpha and thus the game isn't function and certainly not content complete. It's very likely the first shield was simply added as a 'proof of concept' and to test some basic functionality, with the main 'benefits' of wearing a shield being added at a later point in time.

That's really very kind and a good indicator for how you're going to treat similar incidents in the future. Good way to help people out!

    • RE: Open Playtest Server Restart (May 29, 1pm CEST)

Best when it happens now and you can learn from it to avoid it happening during the actual game. Even though it's a bit sad that it is the second time something happens during an open test. If you have more of these (open tests) planned, you should try extra carefully to avoid this (problems) and instead run 'experiments' during closed tests, in order to keep a good PR 😉

    • RE: Join a Militia Quest Suggestion.

I agree that feature should be highlighted, especially in hindsight of the ongoing competition. Maybe even link a short youtube video about it (from a fan, so the developers don't have to spend time) with the annoucement?

    • RE: Play Free, Win A Key - The Contest

What a nice idea, thanks a lot for the chance, I'm sure plenty of people are going to appreciate it and participate! I wonder if that's going to skew the results for how many people would normally join the militia though. And have you considered people using alternate accounts to boost their militia points (create a hundred accounts, kill them and you should start with a rather high ranking)?

(...)the knowledge system will prevent people from knowing faster(...)

As in horizontal progression compared to vertical progression, or as in unlocking skills though exploration, or something else? And 14 days still sounds like something you could easily accomplish with a 'free trial' period, even more so when you simply create three 'meteorites' for the trial players, preventing the 'botting'/'spamming' influence on the real economy/players with next to no effort required programming wise for the developers.

(...)Do the devs want to make a sustainable living or join the 1%? Will a steady # of players in a variety of cities and situations be satisfactory, or will we be sad if we never need to buy a bunch of new servers? I've got an opinion, but not a crystal ball(...)

I doubt that it's just the developers making that call. They've stated they have investors, which is why they could continue developing the game, even thought the Kickstarter wasn't a stunning success (but simply 'managed'). So these investors likely have some form of influence.
And in this stage (during development), the situation is still different from after launch.
I'd say that, even though I don't have a crystal ball either, it's best to keep things as they are now, but plan for a switch. If you need to switch, you are prepared, if you don't, even better since you have a stable financial environment.

You have me curious. How long do you think it takes (is it going to take in the future) to know if you like Fractured or not? And is that pure game time, or just real life time? What factors prevent people from getting to a conclusion faster?
