game would literally be unplayable if arrows existed and took up weight.(...)

You realize that arrows existed and had weight in previous tests and people could play, right?

(...)at that point it starts being simply a chore.

One could argue that waiting for mana to recover is simply a chore as well, so should mana be recovered instantly when out of battle? Or better yet, should we not use mana for spells at all, because mana, like arrows, is/was a way to 'limit ranged attacks'.

4 ) It adds an extra layer of strategy when using different arrow heads and shafts to gain different bonus.

I doubt we're going to get them back with the shift in target audience though. Pity.

    • RE: Council of Elysium - Chapter Two
      • Is every account supposed to have 2+ character slots, or has that changed? If not, how are you going to handle people who want to play as a different race, but lack character slots? Are they supposed to delete their human character and hence loose all progress? Should they wait with starting the beta till there's a different race available? How are you going to 'balance' the massive migration from humans to beast/demon once they become available (for the towns that lack people and for potential human raids on other planets)?

      • Is the game still using the deprecated SpatialOS Unity GDK for the backend or was it migrated to IMS zeuz? Are you allowed to selfhost? Who's the entity that owns the server (physically and legally) Gamigo or DS?

      • The Gamigo data transfer news implies that gamigo US inc. is now hosting and managing the website and forum. I was told by a moderator that's not true and it's still DS for both. Could you clarify the physical and legal ownership of the server for the website/forum and who's in charge for configuration/maintenance of the server and who's in charge for updates on the code?

      Thank you in advance

(...)I've bolded and italicized the important bits for you(...)

Ok, if we're into tossing terminology around.
I never said that SpatialOS has been deprecated. I said that there's a deprecated SpatialOS Unity GDK. As you can clearly see on the Github page, the GDK plugin that is compatible with the SpatialOS legacy platform is frozen. And migration to running SpatialOS on zeuz should happen. SpatialOS has been a SaaS from the very beginning, only the orchestration is changing with Improbable acquiring zeuz.
This has been my question from the beginning, has that migration happened yet for Fractured.

@Vortech said in Closed Beta Starts Soon!:

      (...)You overlooked another part(...)

Yes, because it didn't address my question. It answered what you thought you read would be the idea behind my question. It's not. I didn't mention GDPR, a launcher, a payment portal and revenue share.
I asked specifically for the physical and legal ownership of the website/forum server, because that can be different from the Glyph database. I asked specifically who's in charge of configuration/maintenance and who's in charge of updates on the code.

@Vortech said in Closed Beta Starts Soon!:

SpatialOS hasn't been deprecated, also.. SpatialOS and zeuz are different things(...)

The Improbable Unity GDK Github mentions:
'(...)This is the repository for the last version of the GDK plugin that is compatible with the SpatialOS legacy platform. The GDK is frozen for users who have not yet migrated their project to SpatialOS running on zeuz.(...)'

There's currently no active branch for Unity and SpatialOS on Github. The Improbable webpage indicates a rebranding to SpatialOS on IMS zeuz.
That said, I'm not affiliated with Improbable, so I don't have any insight on the short, mid or long term strategy.

@Vortech said in Closed Beta Starts Soon!:

(...)I don't see anything out of the ordinary(...)

      That's not what I asked.

    • RE: Feature Spotlight - New Continent

You have me curious here, you're claiming that you had to cut down the size by roughly a third in order to maintain '(...)smooth technical performance in the background(...)'.

      • First off, does that mean that SpatialOS dynamic distributed Entity Component System doesn't scale as advertised by Improbable? After all, the idea behind being able to dynamically distribute multiple workers as a system {imagine link to video here} was allowing large sized maps with virtually no performance impact.

      • Do you have to scale down Myr as well? Since Myr is the starting continent the amount of players on there would have to be considerably higher. How can the backend handle a larger Myr with more players, but needs a smaller Aerhen with less players?

Since I'm not sure on the readers technical background, I (over-)simplified some aspects. Should there be concrete issues with my phrasing, please point them out and I'm going to provide a more in depth question on the benchmark of this specific design pattern.

Edit: The forum parser is acting up. I had to provide separate link for the youtube video.

      I watched the videos.

(...)startups usually double down and make a request for more capital(...)

The discussed point was what you quote as 'Upon a contract exit, Dynamight will retain full ownership of', in such a case there's no doubling down.

@Vortech said in Get ready for Closed Beta!:

(...)the risk is on the investor(...)

For the high risk investments you're describing, there's usually a significant interest or part of the revenue. High risk investments have to pay off, they aren't charity.

@Vortech said in Get ready for Closed Beta!:

(...)So, we'll just have to see how things turn out.

Indeed. There's little point in further discussion on the topic from my side, so I'll leave it at that.

This is definitely a positive development, Kudos to that step.
I hope the Gamemasters you're choosing can determine bots (people usually have serious misconceptions how 'easy' that is) and are going to proactively act on them, since it's going to be a real issue on the Beastman realm.
