      a) I'm not talking about RTS, there's plenty of games like that. I'm going to provide you a quick example: Tribal Wars 2
      b) You are only partly correct, if you play an MMO as PvE only, yes, you can only compare that to an extent, but even then. Trivial example, it takes time to regenerate mana and health in a game, but you can purchase 'potions' to fill up either/both. Now the person who doesn't invest money has to wait for regeneration, whereas the person spending cash can simply swallow potion after potion, killing creatures at a much faster pace. If there's progression, that person has a considerable edge over you, or else why would people consider 'botting'/buying progress?
      Now, if we're talking PvP, that is even more of an incredible advantage. You expressed and experienced it yourself, the more warriors you can keep constantly on the battlefield, the better your odds.

      My best guess would be that there are rather few 'entitled posts' and hence the potential list is too small to select more than a few winners. That should change again soon enough as the 'closed stress test', followed by the 'open stress test' are announced/happening.

      It's all about what you consider 'win'. Concrete example, this one guy and his league/guild A are playing Albion Online, they are fighting with another league/guild B for a respawn or territory. Both have 10 members online, both are roughly equal in skill and equipment, it's a fair fight and 5 of the members of A drop (being looted), 5 of B drop (being looted). Now the 5 members from league/guild A do not have spare equipment and hence can no longer return to the battlefield. Whereas the 5 members of B have a next to unlimited stockpile of spare equipment and instantly return on the field. At this point, the fight is 5 vs 10.

      Who 'wins'?

      Looking forward to the test and I wish you the best of luck on server stability and positive feedback! Make sure that people are aware that plenty of functionality is still missing and it is not really a 'playable game' yet, but rather a simple test instead.

      No, you are equal to the one you are catching up with, because those who aren't paying to 'catch up' (, read the majority,) are staying behind. You are 'catching up' to the top, when you were at the lower end before, or in other terms, you bought your place in the top.

      I understand the development process (in a general context, not this specific one 😉 ) and I can feel your urge to try and make up for the 'possibly bad perception' some people might have had with the previous stress test. I still think that, since it's already been more than a month, the impact of an additional month wouldn't have tilted much of the perception or attention in a negative way, but the added functionality might have had a significantly positive impact on first impression. But you're the boss! 😛
      So, I wish you simply the best with the test and it's results (and am going to enjoy it myself).

      Interesting heated discussion.
      I could write up a long posting, but decided against it and just mention a few quick points.
      If VIP is supposed to be a long term monetary support for the company (after the initial purchase), it would have to be a long term effect, else people would 'cancel it', hence defeating the 'but people are going to cap out fast anyway' response.
      Another noteworthy point would be, that some people plan to play with different play-styles (different planets), so a short term advantage is still an advantage on a PvP planet, since you can't decide when you enter a fight (after reaching a 'cap') to these.
      Last, but not least, nobody seems to ever mention the influence of knowledge on attribute gain and I wonder if people forget that, simply are unaware of that, or don't care for some strange reason.

      Are we allowed to know how many 'hundreds of players logged in the game at peak times' actually was? I just can't help my curiosity! 😉
      So basically, I wonder if you'd be willing to share the maximum number of players during peek time and the maximum number of players per minimal server unit/worker.

      I agree there, but mainly on the developer side. The promised spotlights should have already been published instead of the 'cosmetics' updates. Because that gives people something to discuss and talk about and might even help convince one or two people.

      I wouldn't argue against the efficiency of social media, what I wasn't sure about is the effect of being on the front page of Kickstarter.

      You want to avoid refunds like the plague as a video game company. Not only does it cost you more to refund then you got from the customer (actually it can get worse then the 30% @Jetah mentioned), but your payment provider could decide to grant you worse conditions or even terminate your contract. Ad if that wouldn't be bad enough yet, the person asking the refund likely leaves a bad review and hence deters potential customers from a purchase.

      I'm all in for that, but I'd expect Dynamight Studios to release content more frequently as well. The spotlights on towns, buildings, sieges,... that's the activity the Kickstarter needs now (or actually would have needed in the first few days). If they provide the topic and information people are going to start discussing.

      As @Mudz mentioned it at least adds a minimum amount of challenge, but even if you fail at recovering your items, unless you have a fully enchanted set, it should take less than 10 minutes to simply craft the same items again? You likely would even have a replacement set ready in your local bank account, as it is currently rather easy to craft the same set twice or thrice instead of once (ingredients are rather easy to gather).
