So what is the expectation for kickstarter?

Kickstarter already happened and was a success.

      @romandav said in Fractured Supporter:

The average gamer does not have $90.00 sitting around for immediate Alpha-Beta level testing.

You are aware that there are several examples of projects where people invest not just $90 but tens of thousands of dollar on a game? Star Citizen, Chronicles of Elyria,.. there's plenty. If you wouldn't 'sell' these rewards, how would you entice people to invest in the development of Fractured?

(...) Which, in turn, will be run by a governor that may only get all crafting mats for himself?

That would only work for him once, wouldn't it? All his villagers would decide to either move elsewhere, or try and act together in order to remove the governor from his position. Quite similar to how it works in our every day life as well, if we aren't happy with our government, we either try to change it, or we move to a different location.

    • RE: Mentor system

Since you do not acquire skills through usage, but through the knowledge system, which bases on 'accomplishments', having a mentor teaching that would kind of negate the need to accomplish different tasks and bypass the very core of the system, wouldn't it?

(...)No point in waisting the cash then(...)

I agree with @Manaia, it doesn't sound like you want to participate in the creation of a game, but simply want to consume it when it's finished. That said, just to explain, you wouldn't 'waste money', since that money is used to help fund the creation of a game. The sad part is, if nobody pays developers to create games, they have to work with Publishers, who want to simply get the most money and are less interested in getting people good games, but instead would rather have cash shop, lootboxes and whatever else might work to get more money out of players for the same old games over and over again.

    • RE: Winter Alpha Spotlight – City Overhaul

I have a (possibly naive) question. Wouldn't a 'good alignment' guild/city have trouble maintaining their good alignment if they are supposed to attack people for farming their territory (there's going to be plenty of 'farming' characters with good alignment that would be used to contest these resources). Or they'd have to get special characters meant for that purpose with a 'bad alignment', but that seems a bit counter productive, since they couldn't be part of the guild/city.

Actually, a discord INTEGRATION in Fractured would be neat. It's not that much work/overhead and can actually save the developers time. Moderating that can be rather easy, since the community (or some of it's members) can write own (discord)bots to prevent spamming 😉

    • RE: Details on inter-planetery travel for each race

I'm not exactly sure what you'd define as drawbacks and benefits. Do you mean per race, such as this: '(...)Demons are a notable exception to this rule, having been gifted by Babilis the ability to travel to other worlds more easily to bring terror to the other much hated races. However, the penalties they’ll be subject to are no smaller than those suffered by the other races… and sometimes, actually worse.'
Or do you mean the benefits of traveling, which would be getting access to new knowledge, unlocking new skills and possibly collecting materials that you can't find on your home planet, together with the thrill of adventure and PvP combat?

    • RE: Funding

      @Xulu said in Funding:

@Jetah @Logain I wasn't saying fast travel for combat situations, I was saying fast travel as in horse rides from town to town or perhaps a gate system. That isn't combat.

And that is exactly where people who are not into large scale PvP misunderstand the result of their proposal. I'm going to give you an example. Let's say Jetah and I are both leading a large guild of 100 players each. Jetha's players all have fast travel and other 'convenience' benefits due to paying, non of my player has that. Now, it takes Jetha's guild maybe 100 hours to stack up enough resources to keep rushing into large guild battles/sieges constantly for 5 hours. But it would take my guild maybe 200 hours to accomplish the same, simple because they have to walk back to town and stuff, convenience, you know. So, 100 hours into the game, Jetha decides that his league is going to crush me, but while his people can continuously battle due to stacked up resources, mine can not after a short time.
I can't explain it any more simple or in detail sorry.

    • RE: when will it drop?

Take the roadmap @Recoil linked with a bit of caution though. One can not exactly predict game development and even though Fractured is still somewhat doing ok with the schedule, 2022 (or later) is a more realistic target if you want to a void being disappointed.

      (...)the store is open(...)

I wish you the best of luck and hope you succeed, but, unless moderation changes, I can no longer morally and financially support the game in good faith, as long as it sides with people supporting war crimes.
I would have never imagined me saying this, but I wish Gamigo would be back. It is astonishing to me that the same moderators that worked under Gamigo and signed contracts with that company, now blame supporting Gamigo's only reasonable decision, something they defended while working under Gamigo, something that goes in line with European law and political consensus, as 'hate speech'.

Pity, I was looking forward to playing/testing in the next few days.

Feature Creep is a very real danger in software development. Try to release your minimal viable product in schedule and you can still add content afterwards.

That's at least the goal. If that's going to be the case, nobody knows until the game is finished and supposedly balanced. It's a tricky goal, but one worth pursuing for developers I'd say.

      (...)Just use the Imagination.

I think you misunderstood what I meant to express. I was trying to highlight the fact that the developers seem (in my humble opinion) to want making travel between planets something special and 'rare', requiring work and effort by the travelling player. A true experience. Hence why they artificially limit teleportation spells and why interplanetary travel requires preparation.

If you can just summon a demon, it directly contradicts this and makes it a common occurrence that is no longer valued.

@d3Sync said in Guerrilla Marketing Suggestion:

(...)There is really not much of a downside to this(...)

There is one risk involved though. The game is not 'a game' yet, but periodic tests. If you are marketing it heavily right now, some people get a bad first impression because of wrong expectations (regardless on how often you tell people it's in Alpha, it's not a full game yet). And you only have one first impression. Or, even worse, some people burn out too fast during tests, get bored and leave, while you ideally want to have your peak time around launch.

All that said, they do need a considerably income already now, so it's a double edged sword. I'm glad I'm not in the developers position with decisions like that ^^

    • RE: Give us Attribute Resets please

I'm very much the opposite there, I love when choices matter and have consequences. That said, I can see you point, but I'd say, before calling for a doomed game, we should wait till we have a feature complete game with content and only then judge how things feel and play.

I think you misunderstood me @Stacy555, I am sorry if I didn't express myself properly.

@Stacy555 said in Whats in the future graphically.:

(...)Someone is clearly working on graphics ... so there is the resource

Yes, the key difference is, it's 'someone' here and '100-300 people' in each of the other games you mentioned. That 'someone' (and it's more than one person at Fractured as well) has to get all the graphics done to finish the technology stuff for humans, then get things done for Beastman and for Demon planet. And all of that by the time the programmers have finished their part of the work, because you don't want graphics to delay testing.
They simply won't have the time and manpower to get every detail right on graphics this early on in game development with the few people they have available. Especially if you compare them to products with art teams several times their size. That's all I was trying to say and hint at, since people (including myself) often tend to forget that.
I'm not trying to diminish your point, but explain why it likely won't happen for a long while (or maybe at all) unless we get really lucky 😉

The character builds subforum might be of interest to you. But remember that the game is still in constant change. Advice there could be completely outdated for this test. The good thing is, you can simply try something yourself, it shouldn't require that much effort.

@GamerSeuss said in Questions for roadmap for planet design:

(...)mechanics and Balancing is more an Alpha thing(...)

      shrugs If you say so.
I'd argue that Alpha is the point where you implement functionality, whereas Beta is the point where the product is function complete and balancing when not all functionality is implemented yet means you have to do it again once all functionality is implemented, since (hopefully) systems are interdependent.

@GamerSeuss said in Questions for roadmap for planet design:

(...)they are ahead of the game in the financing department(...)

shrugs again Right, if you say so. I don't know details on their finance and I seriously doubt that you do.
I'm not claiming they are in financial trouble, but that such a situation might arise if they extend their original estimate too much, in which case the product would have to be rushed out, which is why most important functionality should be implemented first wherever possible.

      --

All that said, I'm not here to actually discuss the topic, but am hoping for the only person who actually knows anything (Prometheus) to provide some information and to act as the (inconvenient, but sometimes important) reminder that this is a common pitfall for projects (No Man's Sky 'Multiplayer', Chronicles of Elyria, the list is long...).

    • RE: Statement on the Gamigo-rumors

Their communication has been fairly good, but is seriously lacking now @GamerSeuss. Six month ago, they suggested there would be a new high in youtube/blog posts and they'd reveal the name of their new partner. Two month later we're still waiting for the roadmap and the results of the survey. There's no news on the possible winter test.

As for Gamigo's reputation, it's not exactly a secret. A simple five minutes Google search reveals some of the concerns and I'd hope that every company would do a minimal amount of research before selling their IP.
