(...)He just has a tendency to release the videos the moment they're done, before the news has been written yet(...)

Which is understandable, but sort of bad practice. You want people to follow you on social media and add a little (unimportant) bonus there every now and then and you want people to join your Discord, but the main hub of activity should always and foremost be your own dedicated page, which is why it should feature all important news in a timely manner. An hour give or take, sure no big deal, but we're talking day(s).

I would hope that something like that is considered a bug (if it were possible) and would be fixed, as it would bypass the intention.

Races can not permanently stay on a different planet in Fractured. You'd be restricted to humans for defending human settlements.

That said, I'd wait and see for the first few iterations of sieges, that's difficult to balance and I'm sure a lot is going to change during development. Especially when balancing 'online versus offline'.

    • RE: The Eviction/Refugee system ( Residential area solution for city takeovers )

I'd say that's one of these systems and situations where you can't please everybody and where you have to find a way 'between'. But that's best determined by testing, so, wait for how things develop during this test when we first have sieges. Try to play these 'game weakness' the best you can, because that is what the developers need to see in order to make an informed decision. And then, you can talk about it again when the 'results are in' and it's going into the next iteration of design?

Concerning the newsletters, you might to want check the number before and after opening a newsletter. Once you find one isn't being credited, you should report that specific incident as a bug report.

(...)where as a game with Treasure maps generally lead to rare items and for the most part, players in Fractured already know what the sources are of the rarest items/reagents out there.

In theory, since you're already getting 'salable knowledge tokens' from killing a legendary creature, it wouldn't be such a big step to have 'salable loot tokens'. That said, with the recent massive delay in implementing sieges, everything other than focusing on the real core mechanics (Beastman and Demons first of all) would be a severe sign of feature creep.

      Thanks in advance 😉

@GamerSeuss said in Questions for roadmap for planet design:

(...)putting a new skin on an existing creature(...)

That's exactly what I'm worried about and hope is not going to happen.
Just to be clear, I'm not wondering how to 'speed up development the easy and cheap way', I'm well aware of these strategies. A simple texture change for a prefab, like the goblin archer/enforcer is easy enough to accomplish, but adds nothing to the game in my humble opinion. If I'd take the massive effort to travel to a new planet, I'd be seriously disappointed to find all the same creatures, reagents, materials and biomes simply with a slightly different texture and name.

@Kralith said in Questions for roadmap for planet design:

(...)So the best choice was, to implement all the core of the system on this planet(...)

      Certainly, I'm not disputing this.

@Kralith said in Questions for roadmap for planet design:

(...)here is one core mechanic that you just can test once all planets are implemented, thats the Travel mechanic between the Planets(...)

That's the most difficult to implement though, even if SpatialOS is going to simplify the process a bit. Anything less than 6 month would be a serious surprise for me. There's a couple more differences, like the attribute bonus/malus, the special abilities, the planetary traveling alignment influence (eg. how a Demon works on the beastman planet PvP setting wise), but that's not my main concern. My point is the unique and distinctive content for each of the planets that makes exploring them worthwhile is a giant endeavor.

@Kralith said in Questions for roadmap for planet design:

(...)ill we don't have all core mechanics at the planet that we have now(...)

What CORE mechanic are we missing?

Sorry, I think this is the wrong forum to discuss something like that. I'd suggest the Fractured Discord, there's plenty of people happy to share their personal stories with said company.

But no, nothing 'scandalous', more of a reputation to ruin games in a fast cash grab and close way with high pay to win rates.

    • RE: Refunds, negative reactions to Gamigo deal

@spoletta said in Refunds, negative reactions to Gamigo deal:

(...)no kind of metric or method to claim those "100-200k"(...)

Fractured has sold roughly 4-5k pledge packages so far, right? I'm basing that number both on the accounts that joined the recent tests (~4k) and on the funding page.
If mood was to be that all of these were to issue refunds after such an offer, the game would be doomed to begin with, since that would leave virtually no chance that others would buy the game. I trust Gamigo to have a business plan for Fractured and that means they have analyzed that more people are going to purchase packages, so I'm ruling out that possibility.
Assuming that roughly one in three or one in four people would take the offer and issue a refund seems a reasonable (worst case) prediction under these circumstances (Gamigo's own prediction on the games future success). That's where you get 100-200k (and a fixed maximum of 739119 €).

@spoletta said in Refunds, negative reactions to Gamigo deal:

(...)200k are not peanuts by any possible definition(...)

200k are a big deal for DS, but it's peanuts for Gamigo. DS can't afford this, but Gamigo... considering this was announced as one of the biggest deals by the MGI financial report, you're telling me that they can't spend 200k on the best possible marketing and PR when they just spent (supposedly) millions in acquiring the IP rights and have millions more available?
DS has/had a good reputation, the PR hit for Fractured is through Gamigo. Gamigo would have to improve it's reputation, not Fractured, so Gamigo would have to invest the money. That is, if they are serious.

Thanks for asking for details on the figures, I'd be happy to elaborate if there's questions.

Edit: Gah! @LonelyCookie is too fast for me. While I was still preparing my response, he had already answered. I'm going to leave my response though, since it contains a link to the funding page 😛

@GamerSeuss said in Refunds, negative reactions to Gamigo deal:

(...)Make a reasonable ask. This isn't one.

      It's a perfectly reasonable suggestion.

Gamigo has a reputation, regardless if that reputation is deserved or not, it exists and it's going to influence sales. This would be a rather cheap (there shouldn't be more than say 100-200k in refunds, that's 'peanuts') PR stunt and I know companies that'd kiss your behind if they could improve brand loyalty for such a bargain.

The content creators that have reported rather negatively on this deal would instead report slightly optimistic. Sales and profit would increase long term, that is, if and only if Gamigo has a long term investment planned.

If they are simply in for the quick cash grab, you're correct, this would be a completely unreasonable request.

@Razvan said in What does "armor" mean?:

(...)That's why I said that "at this point" the mage is without any doubt the strongest class(...)

My blind guess would be that the mage armor was designed to last for a certain amount of time, in which case it would make sense to be 'better than normal gear, but for a short time', if there's a high enough cooldown and mana cost that prevents you from simply casting it over and over again.

@Woode said in Plans for Enchanting?:

(...)Its hard to ask a character to spend so much time enchanting when very new to the game(...)

It kind of is the price you pay for playing a multiplayer game solo. Interaction with others has to pay off to some degree, or nobody would do that, just like PvP requires reward for taking a risk. As @PeachMcD mentioned, people specializing on gathering and crafting want an incentive to sell their products and guilds/cities more than likely advertise with lending you a hand in the beginning in the hope that you later down the road return the favor.

I could be wrong or behind on info, but I think there will also be decay with buildings that will naturally require this.

What about being able to donate stone to the city and get a slower decay timer as a result? That would kind of be a mixture between both demands and it would even be semi realistic. Since it's only optional, it's not even an additional burden for anybody either.

(...)I've never enchanted anything and have no idea of how it works(...)

Enchanting basically requires a enchanting table in a town that has researched the technology for the tier you're looking at (there's tier 1, 2 and 3 but I'm not sure if you can reach 3 yet). You want to gather the right reagents, put that into the table and hit enchant (make sure the item you're looking at can be enchanted).
A possible and easy to get combination would be penny, penny, amanita, troll liver and dark splinter.
      Does that help you?

    • RE: Suggestion: Invisible armour

As an add on to what @GamerSeuss said, Fractured claims to be an open world PvP game (on one of it's planets) where player skill is involved in combat. A good sign of that is the little sigil that serves as visual indicator of what somebody is casting, so that the opponent has a chance to counteract. Similarly, the armor is also a visual indicator of how to approach combat against an opponent, which is why you shouldn't be able to hide it.

      @TekNicTerror said in A use for non-flawless gems = Enchanting !?:

(...)I dunno why they added in items that have no current use

That happens rather frequently during Alpha stages of game development. If you need something to test some functionality (internal, like database access, specific data structures,...), you add a 'placeholder'. You can't have both content and features/functionality developed at the same time, so it makes sense to focus on functionality (like siege mechanics) first.
