    • RE: When does game release on steam?

There is no fixed date yet, hopefully not before it's in a solid state during beta phase, because customers on Steam expect polished products even when they are tagged early access and are only too fast too judge and rate a game.

(...)Let's say I'm transporting a bunch of our hypothetical items from Arb to Tar and get PKed and robbed half way through(...)

There is no 'half way through'. You are not 'walking' from 'Arb to Tar', you gather a large amount of ingredients (which means it is not going to happen often and is likely a group effort), then you summon a portal with these ingredients and you are there. You can't get killed half way, you are either on Arb, or on Tar. The limiting factor is how often people summon a portal to get to the other planet and how much they can carry while doing so.

Prometheus apologized on Discord for taking that much time to post the new roadmap and review of the last test, but the reason is a good one, namely a serious increase in team size due to new investments. So, just keep a bit more patient and there's going to be some announcements 😉

      (...)I'm completely lost now.
Guess my best bet is to shut up and wait(...)

I didn't intend to confuse you, but if you can tell me where exactly I wasn't making myself clear, maybe I could try and rephrase what I said?

I'm going to try and use an example (no offense intended with the names!):

humerous - Beastman has plenty of wood, but wants iron and clay
Gothix - Human has plenty of clay, but wants wood and iron
Logain - Demon has plenty of iron, but wants wood and clay

Gothix wants to make some money, he and his guild spend one week to collect all the required items to create a temporary portal leading from the Human planet to the Beastman planet. Now they can send a certain amount of people (let's say 50) over there including what they can carry (which isn't much). They all pack themselves with clay, because they know it can't be found on the Beastman planet. They sell the clay (or get killed), the clay is used to create some special armor/weapon that helps Beastman fight against the evil Ice Golem, which is very difficult with armor/weapons made out of wood. But the items only last a specific time (fighting with weapon/armor makes them break after a while). Let's say it takes a week for the items to break. Let's say 50 Humans could carry enough clay to produce 100 'clay sets', so you had 100 Beastman with that special set, but after that week, Gothix would have to come back and deliver more clay. But since it took their guild a week to collect the items to create the portal, he's not willing to do it that often. And clay stays a rather rare item on the Beastman planet.

Does that make any sense to you?

    • RE: Quest system

Quests would be tricky in Fractured, since there's nothing you could offer as rewards.
There's no experience to gain and no items to loot. Knowledge is accumulated from exploring and encountering specific creatures, abilities are unlocked through encounters with creatures and all 'loot' is materials for crafting (or gold). And running errands for gold is something you can basically do in every fluctuating town.

(...)Do the devs want to make a sustainable living or join the 1%? Will a steady # of players in a variety of cities and situations be satisfactory, or will we be sad if we never need to buy a bunch of new servers? I've got an opinion, but not a crystal ball(...)

I doubt that it's just the developers making that call. They've stated they have investors, which is why they could continue developing the game, even thought the Kickstarter wasn't a stunning success (but simply 'managed'). So these investors likely have some form of influence.
And in this stage (during development), the situation is still different from after launch.
I'd say that, even though I don't have a crystal ball either, it's best to keep things as they are now, but plan for a switch. If you need to switch, you are prepared, if you don't, even better since you have a stable financial environment.

Same, but I'm not holding my breath 😉
Actually, I'd much rather they take a bit more time and start implementing the core basics of Beastman/Demons instead of 'only' Herbalism for the upcoming test.

    • RE: Why bake bread?

During the first open test, people had issues that no 'tutorial' existed, holding their hand to teach them the basics. The developers listened to that feedback and implemented a short tutorial. Baking bread is simply the most trivial form of conveying gathering resources and crafting, which is why the fields are marked as hotspots on the map.

Most certainly! But you never know where an adventurer is headed. Remember that there are areas where there's no food resource, so it's likely best to have the first step be creation of a food supply that lasts you for about an hour. That's ample time to get you going past the tutorial.

Well, we already know that 'preparation for exploration' is one of the concepts supporting the idea of horizontal progression in Fractured, so that is to be expected to an extent? That said, there's going to be plenty more social hubs (cities) around these areas, which, according to the developers, are meant to be used as 'closest base' and hence can drastically reduce the specific amounts to be carried.

    • RE: Support/Healer type builds

I am normally playing a healer/support in most every game where that's possible and 'useful'. Honestly, I'm not yet sure if healer is going to be of much use in Fractured, healing yourself is very easy and healing others can hardly cope with that. That's why I am looking forward to the bonus effects of Wolfkind, which could possibly end at least somewhere close to 'support'. And... who knows, maybe when balancing starts, healers actually become a viable profession.

@Wika said in This Alpha needs a Second Kick Start Action:

@GamerSeuss Maybe your right man. I have seen it all. And I play on average 12-hours + a day(...)

You want to consume content, you want to have fun playing a game. Unfortunately, this is a test, not a game. Functionality is best tested in small steps, because that way you find logical errors before they get nested too deep and become very, very tricky to track down. Content is (even though that is sad for players) last on the list to be implemented. As for the burnout you're feeling, that's your conscious decision to put 12 hours a day into the test. As an advice, try 2 hours a day on the next test and spend the remaining time on different games or other things. You won't feel the burn out as fast. But at least, now you have an idea of how professional Q&A teams feel when trying to iterate over the very same procedures day in, day out trying to spot bugs in games 😉

@Stacy555 said in Getting back into action!:

(...)Lots of bugs and glitches still present from previous test, so I'm mildly concerned that the game is being developed from the big picture down, rather than the basic foundations up.

There's likely multiple reasons for this. First and most important of all, as the game is party crowdfunded, you are forced to 'attract' players. This is done through presenting them functionality and content. Then there's a good possibility that some of the bugs/glitches are in code that would have to be worked on for future patches anyway. So, instead of fixing things now and working more on it later, it's more time efficient to do it in one go when you are fully focused on that part. And there's a couple more reasons, but well...

@PeachMcD said in New Armors and weapons, how do you think will effect the gameplay and your build?:

(...)but also to help the devs since tests are,by definition, places to try out new content & give feedback(...)

Very wise words, we need more 'players' with that mindset! Kudos to you 😉

As for the topic, creatures could be easy, but that is to be expected, there's no real balancing yet, since neither the creatures nor the players have all their features and functionality available yet. In the end, the goal is for equipment to be a minimal increase in 'power' and more of an increase in versatility, so no, new weapons shouldn't make creatures easier, but that could be the case in a testing phase.

I wonder whether that code would be similar to the code for muting/ignoring an annoying person in global chat? 🤔 We need that for the next test SO BAD.

      Similar, yes.
It's not actually difficult from a programming perspective, but rather one more GUI component to design and integrate for the UX/UI designer. And, even though for the individual player that is probably different, it likely is further down the line of importance to implement.

Problem still remains withmute button because then you have silent bards that you cant hear in pvp. (Bard combat skills are music)

There has to be visual feedback on the bard's skill, similar to how there is visual feedback with being inside the range of a fire totem, simply because you can't match the audio with the intended effect. Even when muted, the visual effect still persists, hence, the 'drawback' is minimal at best.

It's a little amusing to me, since all four of these games have one thing in common. Each of them had a higher budget (read more people working on) the art assets than Fractured has for everything, art, programmers, marketing,...
Could the graphics be better? Certainly.

(...)In the original press releases (Kickstarter overviews) (...)
So, basically, the Demon World = 100% PvP, little to no safezones whatsoever (except maybe the 2 starting cities per continent)
the Beastmen World = 100% Safe, no PvP anywhere, or very very small 'Arena' style zones, and special Invasion Events being the only break from the norm.
and the Human world should then = about 50% PvP. Much of the actual wilderness is a PvP area, but more civilized areas like established towns would be safe zones (as it is currently being proposed).
      (...)

Sorry, but do you happen to have a link to that? I was around for longer than the Kickstarter and I don't recall them making a claim that mentioned 50% of the Human planet would be a safe zone. I read the initial first design journal and it talks about human having free will and there being consequences to actions. Yes, humans have laws and if you don't abide to them, you risk being hunted down, cast out of the community (village) or whatever other punishment the law intends. But it didn't mention there being a massive non PvP area, because that basically means you don't have a free will.
