@Logain we didnยดt probably understand each other - im pro restriction(...)

I understood you and I agree with you (I am pro restriction as well).
I meant to say that spells/skills are already restricted in a fight in Fractured.
That means it makes sense to do the same for potions (since it is a similar design choice).

    • RE: Travelling&Exploration

I don't think it is actually a problem. The key idea behind exploration is taking a long amount of time traveling unknown territory, not going from 'place to place'.
Why does it pose a problem for you?

    • RE: Mounts - Mechanics

Sounds like a good topic for an upcoming Q&A session?
I hope that whatever they decide that there's some form of 'disadvantage' to mounts, otherwise they simply become a 'feature to unlock' and must have, which would kind of be sad. In that case I'd have preferred a smaller world with no mounts instead.

(...)how do you kill me to get the gear you need to.. kill me.

We know that we're supposed to be able to get 'basic gear' ready within less than a minute, actually, you kind of start your adventure with basic gear from the tutorial. I wouldn't consider that 'grinding' just yet. From there on, you can work your way up with skill. Actually, you don't even really need equipment to finish off a 'non PvP savvy player'.

Aren't asteroids kind of doing just that? They are generated (opened) dynamically and then can close again. They might contain special items terrain, creatures, materials,... and they could very well determine their appearance on some events?

@asspirin said in Question about enviromental damage/effects:

(...)my guess (and hope) is mage can also summon puddles or water in general to further work with it(...)

I'm not convinced that's going to be possible. And I'm not even sure if that would be a good design decision for a truly multiplayer game. How long would the water persist, where can it be summoned, how does it interact with other players and the environment. That's less trivial than what first meets the eye when there's other players, property and different already existing environmental conditions are involved.

Which they stated are for the purpose of testing and will be replaced before the game launches. At the end of the day, non of use has to decide this. The suggestion for expanding the foundation has been made, the preference of some to focus on the game has been stated, so there's not much more to add there.

@Ostaff said in What are the "Optional" choices you would like to see in the next test?:

(...)Which options do you think the devs need to work toward adding?

What they need to work towards? That's a complicated question. On the one hand, you want the developers to be most efficient, so, working on what is easiest implemented at this point in time due to potential overlap and interaction with other systems they are working on right now. On the other hand, a crowdfunded project needs income, so, whatever attracts most people with a high retention rate.

What I personally like most would be trolls and pets, but I am odd and thus my opinion should never matter in such 'surveys' ๐Ÿ˜‰

That's the point though. You might not notice, I might not notice, but a lot of people do. A rabbit is not just a rabbit, there's always some form of art style in there and that can vary drastically. It's a bit like if you and I both agree on a topic on the forum and we'd both write parts of a response, plenty of people could tell two different person wrote that response, even through we'd agree on the topic, because the way we express our stance on the topic is different in choice of words, phrases, structure,...

Game development can be tricky and 'bad stuff happens', so don't be disappointed, or even worse plan your life/free time around a date for as test, even if it gets announced.

If it's as easy as a new texture and makes people happy, I'm all for it. But I wouldn't consider it high priority right now. It's one of these things where I'm always in favor of 'get the game done, ensure that it's good and works well, then deliver fancy decoration stuff'.

(...)But isn't that different to my "Let the community do that." Because this volunteers would come from the community(...)

The key difference is continuous commitment and accessibility. The community would do it, but the studio would ensure that somebody's doing it and if the person that used to do it no longer is available, would get somebody else. And the average joe who doesn't want to read through dozens of forum pages would have access to the transcript right in the news posting (where it should be ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

(...)I will deal with it/work around it.

Since you can decide to opt out/in on PvP by simply playing as Beastman, that shouldn't be all too tricky really. And that also means you likely would be in a large group when traveling to another planet as well, so 'ganking' you would be very, very tricky, as we have been told cross planet travel requires some considerable effort and hence is likely not done solo.

      Welcome to Fractured!
I hope you're going to enjoy your time here and don't get struck by too many more errors.
Are you starting the game as administrator? What operating system are you using?
You might want to issue a complete bug report in the respective forum.

'(...)gear is situational - higher availability makes you stronger. As with the Knowledge System, progression is horizontal rather than vertical(...)'

Just two examples where Prometheus actually mentions exactly that. There's more, but I thought two should be enough to convince people. If you're using the search function, the keyword gear, filtered by Prometheus is rather enlightening.

    • RE: March Winter Alpha?

@drfate786 said in March Winter Alpha?:

(...)If I test a game I will not know exactly what transpired and what might happen if they fix that particular glitch(...)

I guess you have a wrong perception on QA testing. Paid QA testers aren't programmers and they are certainly not hackers, game developers couldn't afford that. Paid QA testers actually require no specific skill set (other than mental resistance to very boring repetitive tasks), which is why they don't end up with a good salary. A paid QA tester does nothing different from a normal 'player', they play the game. If they find something that's looking odd, they issue a report. The difference to a 'normal player' is simply that they are 'forced' to issue a very detailed report and that they spend the required time to figure out how to reproduce a certain outcome. That and that they have to repeat the same thing over and over again in a game.

As for figuring out what might happen if a bug is fixed, nobody can do that. You can take an educated guess, but, depending on the issue, there isn't just 'one way' to 'fix' something. Programming is a little like writing a story in that regards, the 'main story line' might be the same, but the details and especially words used can and will drastically differ. I'm going to give you a concrete example. Ask ten programmers to sort a list of numbers, I'm willing to bet you're going to get 10 different code snippets back, some vastly different, yet all of them are going to sort a list of numbers. Even the algorithm used is going to differ, one might use Bubblesort, another could go with Heapsort and the next one could argue for Radixsort.

(...)I don't know how to feel about Dynamight not being open enough about such a crucial design detail(...)

It's on their front page, as description of how the game is going to be designed.
I'm not sure they could be ANY more open about it? ('Why is Fractured unique? (...)Jump right into the fray from day one. Defeat your enemies through your own skill and cleverness, not equipment or level(...)').

@humerus said in Looting? Pickpocketing? Or Lock picking & Burglary:

(...)If all gear is pretty equal in it's rarity(...)

That's only true globally, but you have to remember that you can not act, nor trade globally. What is 'rare' to the Demon on their planet is rather abundant to the Beastman, but what is very common for the Demon can be hardly (if at all) found by the Beastman on their own planets. So, if a Beastman wants that (as an example...) firesword, there would be expansive trade with the brave adventurer who dared travel to the other planet, or the Beastman would have to venture there all by themselves. Which is where what you'd normally have as 'progress' come into play. Exploration. Instead of going to 'level 76 gated territory and finding level 76 loot, you decide to explore a new territory which (possibly) is a test to your current set of equipment, because your equipment wasn't made to be used under the circumstances there.

    • RE: Non-Forum Players

Player cities could get 'billboards' for advertising and guildhalls for applications, meetings and the like. That way you'd still have the requirement of local meeting in-game, but get the addition of a possible complete in-game recruiting without having to go 'out of character'.

(...)minimal risk in transporting it from Arb to Tar(...)

You assume that you can simply travel from one to the other at a whim any time of the day. That's not the case though, since we were told traveling from one planet to another requires plenty of effort and resources (likely a group effort). You know, like back in the days when you had to take a long, dangerous journey to get goods from here to there, the guilds transporting these goods made a fortune.
