RE: Intemization system
The "skilled newb" that win against a "incompetent veteran" is a claim many games had already made in the past and have almost never be true: unless we're speaking of extreme difference in skill, a veteran should at last know the basic of the game and have a decent advantage thanks to all the time and the gear he farmed with time, while the newb has none of this.
If the difference given by the gear is at max a 5% (just to say a number) it may be true that the newb will win, but otherwise it seems unrealistic because the gap in health, mana, regen and everything else will simply be too much to overcome by someone who have little to none knowledge of the game itself. Here come again what I was saying about how much gear can give an advantage, but I suppose that we don't have enough information at this point to make any real statement on the argument. Let's wait at last the Alpha 1 to see something.

RE: Friendly Fire
@gofrit indeed you're right (and I too prefer to be ranged), but from a gameplay prospective it's not so entertaining to know that every big battle will be a total massacre for you, if you choose to be a melee. Not so fun to be just a part of the "meat wall".

RE: Friendly Fire
Frindly fire will make a real hell every large PvP events, since allied people will often kill each other. Think about the life of melee where in large battles the frontlines of both side get bombarded no-stop by the backline: a real nightmere.
Also consider how people will lose Karma just because they kill another Good aligned one by accident during a massive clash because they just walk by when an offensive spell is fired or a bunch of arrows are flying around. It may be active during "every day" situations, but when an Eclipse will start probably it should be disabled for its duration.

RE: Intemization system
@eurav What I mean was: there will be materials more rare than others, probably also item's recipe harder to acquire than others (and for which crafters will ask more for their services). If such gear is too much similar to an easy-to-obtain one, why people should put efforts into it instead of just getting a "regular" one?
There will be a difference between gear's type, in a way or another. What I was thinking is how a full loot system may impact the design about gear in the game.

RE: Intemization system
Crafting an high level gear could be very time-consuming if we consider all the different aspects involved in the process: farming the right (possible rare) materials, bring them to a master crafter and hope that he will forge the piece with the stats we're interested in (that may require many attempts), then enchant it with gems (that I think we'll have to find somewhere also).
If the gap between an high level item and an entry level one will be small then the efforts needed for crafting the top tier one will be too much, meaning that few people will invest so much time to have just a little advantage.
On the other side if the gap is too big then people may be afraid of use the items that required them so much time and efforts to get, because with a full loot system they may lose it at their first death (may that be on PvP - where they get looted - or on PvE - where it may be very hard to recover it if they die in some "bad spots").If the system will remain on full loot, then the gap between the best and the worst gear should stay low OR the efforts to get the top should be not so big as it seems now on paper.

RE: Post Kickstarter Funding is Going Well
@vortech At the time of the Q&A there was not so known. Also while there is so little gameplay material to be show, it will be difficult to bring in new players.
I think that when the Alpha 1 will start Fractured will grow even faster. -
RE: WASD or click to move only?
Considering the isometric point-of-view of the game, the WASD configuration may be tricky. I think it will only be click-to-move like in H&S or moba.

RE: Different servers or just a big one?
@specter I understand that servers in different regions have a major impact on the budget, but at last one for the US and one for EU, imho, are needed from the start: while I've no doubt that if the Devs said that they'll consider to implement localized servers when players will have connection issue, remember that the release and the first months of an online game are often crucial for its success.
If tons of players will experience major problem with lag and ping, when an EU server will be up tons of them may have already dropped Fractured and in the meanwhile a "bad reputation" start spreading around, leading away potential new players. -
RE: Different servers or just a big one?
@gofrit said in Different servers or just a big one?:
@Lightspoon RP can be done on all the 3 planets without the need of a RP dedicated server.
Well it can be hard to go even in a light RP if other people around are not interested in it. A dedicated server will ensure that those there are willing to follow certain rules. Considering the peculiar lore of Fractured and the already baseline distinction between PvE and PvP, I just thought that an RP-safe zone could be a nice addition but I understand that is something niche and for sure not a priority in this stage of development (and that's totally right).
Aside from that, during the Alpha I agree that is pointless to test so early different localization, since it's most of a technical test. But for advanced Beta and release I really hope that different localized servers will be up: connection issue may be frustrating for the players to deal with.

RE: Different servers or just a big one?
@kellewic Thanks for that!
They didn't mention if there will be different kind of servers (some with roleplaying or with certain specific limitations and so on) or all will be the same, just split up into different region and localization.
I know that's probably a very niche question and at 99% there will be no difference from one server to the other, but I think it's worth asking at last. -
Different servers or just a big one?
Probably I've missed that info, but I've not found anything about that: there will be many different servers (like in WoW, DaoC or UO) or just a big one?
If there will be different servers to avoid overflow into a single one, there will be some difference between them? Since PvE and PvP are already divided by the structure of the World itself, maybe something like "roleplaying server" may be a thing?

RE: Weave Fracture cataclysm, Elysium lore into exploration
Lore about the past is something that is not so important at the release: we have almost everything we may need to build our characters and the knowledge about the worlds we're living in. Everything else can be always added later if needed, but doing it now will just take out resources from more important things the game may need now.
Fractured is so open world that the players will wrote their present and their future, while the recent past can be told by the NPC. While we'll be playing that history will write itself based on what we'll do. Remote history and the stuff of legends can wait for now, imho.

RE: PvP loot, an yet unasked question and diferent POV
The system is very similar to that of Ultima Online, were full loot of both inventory and equipped gear is possible but that action will bring consequences upon the thief (or the murderer).
If the gear will be kept easily to replace I see only pros to this solution (because it will make economy and crafting going), but if expensive enchantments or other different type of gear more hard to acquire will come, then it may not be a so good idea to make it drop.
People that will be able to get those buff/rare drop won't use them because in fear of losing them. If that will ever be, then they should think of something that may prevent a certain item to drop upon death (an insurance with gold or a blessing and things like that).

RE: Post Kickstarter Funding is Going Well
Ye the game is performing well under that point of view and I'm really excited to see it going! I know that is still far away but I hope we could have Taming implemented.
It'll be so nice to going around searching for rare animals, both as mounts and companions during our adventures.Keep spreading words about Fractured even further!

Hello
Hi everyone! I'm following the project almost since its beginning but I've decided to join here only recently since (finally) also some of my friends have decided to join on Fractured when it will be ready and released.
We're an old group of 4-8 people that play toghter since the time of Ultima Online and Dark Age of Camelot. After almost 10 years of World of Warcraft (from day-1 Vanilla to the end of Cataclysm), we've never found another MMO that really captured our interest.
Many aspetcs of Fractured got us here: so many common points with UO and, most of all, a system finally free of time-consuming exping phases or endless grind. Afterall we're all grown up and between family and work we don't have much time left so something that will grant us the chance to have fun without wasting hours just completing quests and killing mobs is more than welcome.
I really hope that Fractured can be what we're searching for.
