Definetivly the Housing in Wildstar, beside the complexity of the design possibilities, i also liked that you had Plots that gave minigames for visitors.

And yes, i need to agree @Gothix again, the Skillwheel of Original The Secret World i liked so much.

For the fear factor of an permadeath Sandbox game, i point out Salem the Game.
H&H is surely nice too, but with the resets you probably had not such a bound to your character than in Salem.

If i come back to The Secret World, its questsystem with the Investigation quests was for me another point to love that game, beside the amazing lore.

As for the Crafting, i liked it in Salem the Game, since it was somehow grindy, but you did not feel its grind. There was so many steps to do, per example: plant trees, harvest them, make boards on a bench, dry them, plane them, oil them....
You had to raise purity on your fields with a special 3 field planting mechanic.
Purity also was a thing for Fruittrees, Worms for your Compost Bin, Chicken, Planting Pots, surely i forgot something 😉
If you used different materials you got different stuff from the same receipe.
You had to figure out by yourself, what you have to combine.
I know some other games who have a very nice crafting, that keeps you busy.
It is always interesting, if you don't have to "one click" (like in WoW) to craft, but have several steps, some secrets, a random factor and some effort to do, to get useful Crafts, that you also are able to trade.

For PVP i was also a huge Fan of Warhammer Online, @Shivashanti decribed it well.

      @Althalus said in Foundation:

At some point one of the devs mentioned that they are planing on adding more items to the foundation is that still in the books?

Hmm i just remember they said, they did not plan it.
They left it open, whether they might consider adding things.

(Edit: I was overseen Znirfs statement 😄 )

In my opinion there is not really a need for new rewards.
I would rather like to see that they concentrate to the game instead of creating more content, that they need to add till release.
Imagine the crying about, if not all Rewards will be given at release, just because they had do add more and more, because people craving for it.
Would be a stupid way to make us happy 😉 😛

Do you research games before you buy?

I am always researching, if i want to buy anything.
Sure, sometimes it is hard to research, but i try to get as much informations about a product as i am able to get. Just with this knowledge i am able to review it or rate it in a correct way.

Our actual consuming behaviour in 2020 is overall very superficial.
One of the main problems in our world, not just the gaming industry.

I am glad, that i had to block not even 5 people in my whole online life.
And i am used to the Internet since 1997 😉

Usually talking to each other helps, or just ignoring them entirely without taking them the possibility to get in contact with you again.

Oh, i do not fit exactly into this quadrant.
Let me think how i would describe my play style.
      Maybe a socialized archiving explorer.
I do chatting and socializing very often, but i am too chaotic and confused, to be caring all all the time about the socialized people.
I like collecting all the time, in parts i want to be a completionist, but i don‘t care about money or having all archivements.
I like exploring, seeing all POIs and unhiding hidden stuff, but i do not need to know and experiencing all available stuff.
Sometimes i even want to have some PVP.

So i guess i would need to put myself in the middle of the quadrant.
Disapointing, because it means i am somehow good for nothing. 🤣

      Roleplay.
Not this strict one, but Roleplay on sight.
In MMOs i do not like hours long roleplay plots leaded by a master.
But i am hoping for much lore related roleplaying. Not just the about the lore of the game, but the community generated stories.

And for this reason i wish to have „tools“ ingame.
My wishes going from wanting writable path signs till writable paper/books.
Ahhh and sitting on chairs, benches and ground.... of course, it's not role-playing if you don't sit by the fire and talk fancy. 🤣😂

      I‘ve noticed it too.
To be honest, in reason of getting overloaded by work last 2 weeks and some slight cold i had last days, i prevented to watch out all these forum posts and using Discord. But for reason, because i saw a more rude behaviour all around.
I wanted to be the part of the community, who guaranteed the balance, but i could not effort this last weeks.
But i was expecting it since long time, that our grown up community gets more and more people who are not that grown up and who like to cause trouble.
I really think, we need to stand this. Mostly you can‘t do much against Trolls, except to ignore them.
People who seems just to be a bit rude, you maybe can lead to a more constructive path.
But you will not be able to eliminate toxicity.
Our grown up community just can show their faces and try to be as solid as a rock.

Did you guys missed, that some Mobs already drop usually crafted things, like the poison or healing stuff from goblins.
I think there will be drops from human like creatures, if they usually wear them.
So dropping their Bows and Staffs would also make sense, als long they will be kind of damaged, means, they are not that good to fight with anymore, but you can use them in crafts.

    • [Feedback to Alpha2] The Curve of Excitement and some other things

My story is already known by some of you. I got a link to Fractured in 2017 from a friend, then i was reading the first and second Spotlight and was already falling in love to the whole Vision. That happens rarely at games in this stage, at many many others of the same kind (Sandbox,(A)RPG,MMO) i was losing my interest for a reason of "something is wrong". Fractured did not show up the "something is wrong" for me, opposite, the vision and the visibility of our Dynamigths made me say "Yes, that will be the game i want."
My first conclusion summary i made was in Pre-Alpha, it was quite short and driven mostly by feelings.
Very basic core things we got to test there, Weapons, a campfire and a small map with Grassland and Forest Biomes and some animals in it.
But when i was stepped in first time, i noticed the already present Atmosphere.
It was very basic, but i saw the potential.
I did not expected much, but i got a suprising nice running Pre-Alpha and the following Alpha 1.
Each next Phase was setting at least one point on top to my favourite list.
Now we are in Alpha2-1 and we got first really cool Creatures, the first test of the Knowledge System and the awesome Cart ❤ 🙂
With each piece of content we are able to test, my excitement about the game grows.
But that not mean i am blind or that i have pink glasses. I keep an 👁 on the happenings. 😉

For this reason i want to write down some things i was thinking about and noted for a later conclusion.
I will fill the empty parts while the Alpha 2 is running, but i think it is a good idea already to post the actual written parts.

      Atmosphere

      Let's start with the Atmosphere.

The Environment Algorithms are already well defined.
Trees, Plants and decorative Elements are placed without this Pattern-Feeling.
That means, the diversity is present and the varity of arrays of items makes the environment a kind of natural.
      Good Job 🙂

But please remove the lawn mower ability from the Cart, i really like the Environment and i would like to decide if i want to remove a Bush or not. 😉
If you don't see other possibilities than to remove surface stuff while placing blueprints, then it would be super nice to have the possibility later to place decorative Bushes and Stones in our settlements. It would be a very nice QoL and would make the whole housing aspect more living.
But to this aspect more when i am writing the Housing Conclusion.

      Hear the sounds!
It is so relaxing to walk around and hear the river, the birds, the leaves in the wind.
I am hoping for much more variety in future, depending on Biomes and Planets.
Sure, there are some issues with the sounds, but in general the idea behind is visible.
I noticed per example some missing sounds (Mining Stone Boulder, Cart). Also i am still at testing about the previous issues with hard sound breaks i countered in previous test phases. I will write more about them later on.

But what i noticed when i was switching from my Boxes to my headphones - and i like it so damn much - was that you hear the sound from where it comes. 😮
Means, you hear where the fighting is going on, where someone hitting a tree and even where your campfire is crackling.
Some minor improvement i want to suggest, make the sound both sided/all around if you stand directly at the sound source, because otherwise the sound always switch from left to right and back, when you just move a step. Maybe 2m around a source per example.
But in general, i am sooo amazed about this sound feature, i think i will play from now exclusively with headphones or at the soundsystem in our living room 😄

      Housing

Before i say something about housing in Fractured, i want to look to my excitement level.
When it comes to housing in a sandbox like game, i am consider it beside exploring and collecting as the most important long time motivation i have to look at. But there are many other parts, that arouse my interest. The fearfactor of PVP per example, if i am brave enough to step out of my comfort zone 😉
But to see a good developement of creative possibilities pushes my excitement up.
Fractured got a bunch small details that gives me promising thoughts.
But nevertheless there are things that needs to get worked, others that i wish to have and many ideas in that i am curious about how they get implemented in the next phases.

In my opinion, Housing has to pay out, it has to be something that binds yourself to special places and makes you feeling you have to fight for them if something is threatening it.
The most part i am looking to are the possibilities of housing.
How will look like our towns, will they be very indiviual?
Are the planned housing features be usable in great Roleplay, from playing a Bartender in a Tavern next to the marketplace till to be a Harsh Commander in a Military Base?
Will the Governor Role really matter and will this might lead to interesting political controverses in Freetowns, or even Guildtowns?
What will happen with towns, if they get sieged?
There are many other questions, that will get hopefully answered during the Alpha&Beta. 😉

I don't think i need to repeat, that Fractured already has a very nice graphic.
But i want to say, same is for the Furniture and Crafting Stations.
If we now combine it with my wishes, then i would make all furnitures interactable.
Sitting on the Table&Bench with 3 others, laying on a bed, using a table as trading storage.
      Such things and more.
I like to be able to use foreign houses fires and workbenches. 🙂

But for QoL it is a bit too early.
Lets look to the mechanics that have to get worked.

      • Blueprint Placement does not work next to walls for some structures (per example Wooden Chest or Fences).

      • Once i built my stuff, i am supposed to be able to move my stuff around. It works outside of houses almost well, but inside it doesn't work.

      • Some positions next to housewalls are not valid to move there, even if the structure seems to fit very well, like the Workbench next to the Door.

      • If you go out of a house, the walls/roof don't gets visible again. You need to go a good while and come back, to reset the visibility of them.

      • Not the entire structures have a bounding box with collision enabled.

I think that was the most important for going to the next level.
Now i will look curiously to the next phase and wait patiently for next features to test.

      Fighting

I am not a theorycrafter directed to fights and min-maxing.
So you will probably not much read about fighting theory from my side.
Others are way better in testing the whole fighting mechanics.
But some points i may have, mostly about the look and feel of fights.

Fighting feels good and makes fun, because you have to aim, otherwise your Cast/Hit/Shoot will missing, per example shooting a Firebolt miles away from the target. I like this system.
And i like the skill effects you created. I see much nice artwork in it. Thank you Michele @Sunti 😍

The targetting could be more consistent, since i had some problems as Arcanist to get the attack symbol at cursor when many people fighting together. It feels like you have to find this single small spot between all these scurring people where the enemy is targetable.
Some casts just trigger, if you have a fighting target, means the cursor with fighting symbol, when you moving over a target. If you can't find the target, you can't use the skill.
More annoying it is for Hordes of Creatures (at least two) who are close to each other, you can't target them precise. Very bad if you want to shoot a priority target, but you always get just target the other, because it is in front of your view (not of your character).
Not sure how to improve it, but i would not like to have a click to target system as alternative.
I can imagine to trigger the skill if anything under the cursor position is valid for the skill.
And then the Target is choosed by the angle of my click to my character.

The moving of creatures and their pathfinding goes into the right direction.
Here we got a huge upgrade after you changed your platform version.
Animals and Creatuers are more smooth in their movement and i see some kind of tactics they use.
Their difficulty level shows already a bit that we will need to be creative to fight them, especially if you don't have recommended skills yet.
I already hate the Wisps 😂

But some things i wish to see in future, since the system now feels still a bit clumsy.
That there is a need for Spawner at fixed positions is for me very clear, you want to set the positions of Mob groups at special POI.
But maybe the random ones should be really random or at least a bit random with limits.
For now it is like "Oh i need to kill x Rabbits, there are 2 spots next to my house, i know exactly where they are." - run, kill, repeat = finished Knowledge
Also i would like to see, that spawned Animals don't run back to their spawn point if they lose aggro.
Why not let them wait at the spot they losed line of sight for some time to you? Maybe let them walk back slowly, after a while of waiting.
This resetting behaviour seems to be a big possibility of abusing in my opinion.
I want to be able to really run away from them (outside line of sight and interest), not just run to xy and i know they are resetted. I want to be able to run aways as good i can and hide me, if i am not brave enough. And i want to get in trouble if i do this headless. 😉

    • RE: Housing Concerns

@Lakica i was playing around with houses too yesterday.
Lets see, what i figured 🙂

      @Lakica said in Housing Concerns:

On claim: (-1943 W, 958 N) Malkn's claim we have 3 houses; 1 2X2 with porch co-owner has full access; 2 2X2 one finished no co- owner acess to chest inside, second not built.

Did you set Rights on the Chests to Co-Owner?
The Co-Owner Role on your Claim does not give automatically rights.
But each of you will have rights at the Chest that you placed by your own.

No House Icon for co-owned houses on the Main Map: makes it hard to find again.

As i remember right, Prometheus said at Oxfurds Stream, that they will add Marker. So we just need to be a bit more patient about that feature 🙂
Meanwhile you can help yourself to make a Screenshot of the Map to find back to your friends claim.

Inventory Windows on Chest: closing too soon or while moving items to it.

This i was experiencing too... but have not really a regularity found.
You should describe this as own Bug Report.

Rotate: for Houses and housing items would be nice.

There is a rotating... you need to use Q.
If you have select a Blueprint, you will see a small Helpline with usable Hot Keys right above your Actionbar.

Hand Carts: can we have co-own option so we can have one person gather materials while other builts if wanted.

I would like to have this option too 👍

These are what we have noticed and thought would help with the housing. We are also not sure if you wanted to let people built more than one property on a claim; Malkn says that it would be cool if you intend for that to have an option to combine the houses into something later.

I think thats exactly what they wanted to let us do.
I figured you can setup at your personal claim up to 4 houses.
I made 3 - the 2x2 with Porch and two other 2x2. Each with own "use".
      A small village 😉
We will need to wait a bit, till they really implement the Town System.
In the Design Journal about Towns is decribed, that you start small with a Hamlet on a Town Space and grow it up to a Town while adding different kinds of Buildings and Places to it.
A bit like the Startertown, they just can become bigger than that 🙂

On on another note, it would be nice to have party member icons on the minimap.

I think that we will get sooner or later.
It would help to find them, since the view is very limited and people who run out of your screen can be lost forever.

      @Lakica said in Housing Concerns:

@Lakica I forgot to add that the fireplace doesn't allow co-owner to cook.

I had same, i guess it also has no Permission Symbol nor move Symbol in the Menu.
We builded a new one that had all options and destroyed the old one.
But that i consider definetively as a bug, since all interactive Structures should have these options, no matter when and who builded them.
There should be reports about, i have it in whole at my list for my summary later.

Nice finds, keep testing and having fun 🙂

    • [PVP QoL] Visible Relation of Residents+Citizen to own town

Soon player will get out of „Young Player“ state and become vulnarable.
I see a big problem for this reason related to towns.
We don’t have at the moment any visible marker for own citizen and residents. So it will be very hard to spot, if a player that runs around your properties is related to your town or not.
Maybe i am just picky, but how the hell we will be able to difference between „friends“ and „enemies“ if we cant see who is related to our own towns?
I see a big mess incoming, if townies think „Oh look, there is lurking someone at our controlled area, lets kill him!“ and then it turns out, it was just a new resident who wanted to be with us.
More problematic is this, because the names in the Citizen list are not related in any kind to the character names and you don‘t have any hint, that this is a citizen of your own. Per example if the player made a second character and you didn‘t remember the name of it, and he/she isn‘t joined your guild already, which is using a different system to be related to character names, different as for citizen, thats related to account names.

For now as a caring Governor i just would have a chance to create offline a full list of my citizen and residents and send it to everyone with the please to watch an up to 300 people list, if this is a „friend“ or not. A pure non doable task.

@Lemdul81 said in Patch Log - v.a.2.5.0f + Jail System Info:

So....no pvp this alpha? Got it.

Just because it has consequences, if you are evil?
Or just because you are forced just to make PVP with other REDs instead of just killing people who are obvisiouly non PVP player, and you have to be same careful outside in the world as every PVE player has to be, because of open PVP all around.
Without the Bounty Hunting, the game wouldn't be playable for all PVE player anymore, because they would never reach the PVE hotspots without getting ganked again and again. So it is just fair, if they have a possibility to get justice.

If you think, it prevents PVP at all, please make a suggestion for PVP only areas, where Bounty Hunting don't work, but that PVE player can avoid to step in. 😛

@GamerSeuss you can't say, it isn't used and for that reason they don't need it anymore.
It was used and there was questions and communication attempts by the backer, but very less response by the Studio, as @Xzoviac described it.
Just because the Studio could not care enough of this forum, does not mean it is not desired.
Many old Backer just gave up on it, because of the lack of response.
So you can't blame the community for that.

Would be a bit like, if a bakery don't open their doors and people can't come in to buy the fresh baked breads and bagels. They will maybe stand one or two days in front of locked doors but at the third one they won't come back. Then the Bakersman realize after a week, that he didn't sold anything and close his shop for the reason that nobody wants his yummy pastries.

I saw all the posts and somehow missed it, when you started it 7 days ago.
I guess i was too much into the game to test, so i wasn't seen it.

I was reading the stuff that was going on last days, and yes, it was also a kind of toxic. I don't want to judge any Source of it 😉

You was frustrated and wanted just to leave a bit grumbling expression.
Others got frustrated to read about it.

I can tell you, this community is far away from being toxic.
      Far far away!
For sure such a community feels wronged if it happens, that someone who not even know them say not so nice things about them:
      @Elric said in Really Disappointed.:

Meanwhile, all I see in chat is a bunch of kids trolling new players.
People would ask where there were open plots, so trolls would suggest spots that were open - and then laugh when people got there to find all the spots taken. Fun stuff.

...On the bright side, I'm glad I ran into the toxic community and gameplay issues before I invested any money into the game. It's just disappointing....

As other said, this is an Alpha with a lot of missing content and mechanics.
Also it wasn't "the Community" that you got known, it was a bunch of people who got free access, since we had a stresstest. The next active Alpha Phase will be just with backer again. And i can promise you, this community is great and helpful. And you will enjoy playing Fractured and see it's potential.

I can forgive you the first rant you had, because you maybe did not think about, that the "community" you faced is not the community that stands for that game. 😉

      As for your Game Issues.
      @Elric said in Really Disappointed.:

However, my 1 hour in the game was frustrating and pointless.
I started out messing with gathering / crafting and some PvE.
That part was alright, but going any farther was a waste of time.
Literally every single plot on the map is taken. I ran for 40+ minutes and did not see a single open plot of land to test any of the player housing and building mechanics.
Why have an open Alpha test if every single plot on the map is already taken?

That all plots was taken, was to expect, since every tester was running for it.
But look, thats a good sign, even it was bad for you, since you could just step in late.
A good sign, because that means we had a lot of tester and the Devs had much oppotunities to learn about it.
Don't worry, with the next test we start from new, as in every test...
      I maybe built now my 8th or 9th house? I don't know 😄
Also they will change the way it works. Because that was planned from beginning.
It will not be that important for you to have a house from start. Also it will cost you something to get it.
That was planned since beginning. But developing this takes time 🙂

      @Elric said in Really Disappointed.:

It's just disappointing, because I thought this game had an insane amount of potential.

If you like the concept, try to get us all known.
Get the Developement Team known, be a part of the Community.
      Thats simple as it is.
And to say it with @Pwnstar words: "You can't get away from toxic people." Thats true. But you can find the people you like to be with and ignore the ones who want to destroy your fun.

Last but not least i want to defend Pwnstar a bit. When i was reading your entry my opinion about it was also a bit like: "hey... you complain about toxic people, but step into us with a very toxic behaviour, you litterally said, you are happy that you consider us all as toxic people, to know who you don't want to get known."

I just say it with the words of @PeachMcD

      Hey @Pit
      Sehr schön geschriebene Zeilen.
Sei willkommen in unserer illustren Gesellschaft.
