      For the moment we shouldn't think about it that much. Better find the most bugs and give feedback during Alpha and Beta to improve the game then when bots comes we can deal the issue way better and faster.

      fixed it for you.
      this game has player economy and trading. it's perfect for bots.

      @LilithDragonFlower

      • i hate captcha and if they do that i'm out. besides, bots have caretakers which will do this if they actually log out.
      • i'd say require 2fa, it helps the developers and players, but again, bots will still use it.
      • eve online, wow, and others have game time trade for in game currency and it's fine. it's great for those that are in countries where currency is poor and they're able to get some type of game time or VIP or whatever.

      you can't grief the infinite hp (or 100% regen) npc mob.

      @Trelia
      cheapest is just allow players to report and after a certain amount of reports, investigate it.
      second best is pvp but the bot owners can report the players for grief.

      What do you guys think the bonus and penalties will be for Angel?

      in a perfect Fractured world there would be no penalties, as angels are perfect.

      i doubt the starting area would give you enough of a variety to build enough alts like that. IE it may have 15 abilities, a little from each tree.

      demons have 30m on arboreus, there will be places where demons just can't enter.

      @Jairone
      if there was a such system then 1 item wouldn't do it but after a certain amount, lets say 30 or even 100, it would mark the map.

      @Whisper
      there were npc's in one mmo i played where the item was immortal and used as a bot trap. if you continued to attack it it would eventually flag you as a bot. the tutorial even said "there are mobs like this that are specific to flag bots, DONT ATTACK IT". you could of course attack it as it would take a some duration of time to flag you.

      you'll be given some spells/abilities. i hope. I assume you pick a starting 'class' or you can select which skills/abilities you want. the starting 'class' will help new players while the advanced will help those who were in testing.

    • RE: Pre-alpha server status notification

      @benseine
      they have forums, discord, reddit and twitter. i've seen some games go down and take the forums with it. the only communication the devs had was 3rd party.

      i'm just saying during pre-alpha there's no need because they will only have certain windows for testing. honestly you shouldn't need a post letting you know the game is down when you try to log in and find you can't connect. it's pretty obvious the game is down. hell, the game client/launcher could have it mentioned or a colored dot with text.

      if the servers are only up for a weekend then i doubt you'll need a monitor. if the server is only up for 5 hours, you wont need a monitor.

      they'll email, post in the tester section when the test will be. you just have to add that to your phone calendar so you don't miss it.

      i'm sure they'll just email people and forum post stating the date and time for a test. i seriously doubt they'll all be spontaneous times.

    • RE: WASD or click to move only?

      @target
      but click to move is horrible compared to wasd. I can keep the mouse over a target and run around, you can't do that with CTM. you have to move the mouse to where you want to run, click, move the mouse to your opponent then do you ability, then move the mouse to run again, etc. I just keep moving while keeping my mouse over you.

      and 8 directions could be higher but you only need 4.

      @dj35
      prometheus already said no wasd.

    • RE: WASD or click to move only?

      @target
      it works like Zelda did on the NES. it's just a character movement. ➡ moves the character toward East, ⬅ moves the character West,⬆ moves the character North, ⬇ moves the character South. Now it isn't limited to those 4 directions, you can have 8 base movement too.

      you can visit the other thread and look for my Spiral Knights video. But it works just like it would on a controller on console. I've even mentioned it allows for certain disabilities to play the game.

      why would you attack something knowing someone will jump in the way? if you don't want FF then stay on the beast planet.

      @jairone said in Friendly Fire:

      @jetah Sorry, but I have seen far too much of what people do to agree with you there. Where I like the freedoms, and where I like having some good PvP, people abuse anything they are able to abuse.

      Let abusing happen, and the game dies really fast.

      And, just in case you missed it, I'll repeat it once again. I don't have a big problem with having to think about skill use like that. I merely know that the consequence of good characters (for whom murder of their own unintentionally would be a big alignment hit most likely) would be people aiming to grief by jumping in the way of attacks to purposefully ruin their experience. That is NOT PvP in a way I can accept, and if that's the goal of anyone I hope they get the help they need from a professional.

      Eve Online is a sandbox game I know of and they allow scams, pvp, deaths, spying, sabotage, etc to exist without any protection. even in safe space, where the npc police will spawn on you, you can still shoot people. that game isn't dead.

      I'll say again, that a sandbox game shouldn't protect people outside of the intended game mechanics. I'll say again I would have had friendly fire on all 3 planets and it would be up to the user to use AoE or not but I'm not developing it. Right now 1 planet doesn't have FF at all and the other 2 it can happen. If you are in an area then you should group up because that's the only, current, game mechanic protecting you from AoE FF. Which I don't agree with but it exist so I accept it.
