      Do you think the bots will be good enough to move from gathering location to gathering location, or will they just sit at one mushroom patch and harvest it every now and then when it refreshes?

      they can do nearly anything a human can. i've seen bots teleport (their preferred method), mount up or run to spawn locations. many times they can read the memory of the game to see/know if a node spawned. they can navigate random generated maps (like Diablo 3). In asia they use infinite HP mobs to try to trick the bots but I think would have fixed that by now.

      the only games there aren't any bots in are the ones with no trading. and even then they'll try to offer services like material farming, xp farming, gear farming, etc.

      wildstar bot montage:

      here's a wildstar bot code! https://github.com/Akaike0/StarSpot (i'm curious if DS could learn something from this specific source code!?)
      warcraft herb bots:

      diablo 3 bot (random generated rift, it has a loot filter and propitiates elites for a specific resource)

      i hate bots, i hate boting (unless it's approved by the developers). Yet nearly every game has bots. then there's the spam for them to sell. if you block url in chat, like www.goldfarm.com then they'll change it to // // // . g ()|_c|f/-\r//\ . ( () //. they'll use special characters and any other means to bypass the spam filter. building a spam filter (like SpamMeNot is probably one of the best ways to prevent it. Wildstar put a level requirement on trade spam, well the spam bots then just leveled up. it was great for like a week.

      oh, then the bot overlords decided to report the players who 'disrupted their business' as player griefing. that was amazing too. we had to tell the GMs that the bot observers were doing it so we wouldn't get banned/suspended.

      @Specter I'm only posting references to bots (primarily video) to explain how complicated they can be scripted. The open source post can be used by DS to try to prevent that type of system from working. again, i hate bots and i know they'll be in the beastkin and human planets.

      first to adopt usually pay more for that privilege.

      Pay more for the privilege to invest money earlier to get less benefits.. sounds quite awesome privilege. šŸ˜‚

      you aren't getting less benefits. you get the same benefits as someone getting it on sale. however, you probably entered into the game and tested a little bit, while they might not have. I'd say the person waiting on a sale, which may never happen, may only get the pack after the test period.

      there was no guarantee that the packs would have ever gone on sale, at least the kickstarter packs. now creating a game is a business and offering sales is a smart business decision.

      @Tuoni

      you could wait but you'd have to skip out on any test phases. that info is worth more than the packs they're selling (not the limited multi-thousand euro).

      first to adopt usually pay more for that privilege. I can get a free iphone 7 (or whatever they're offering now) but someone spent 800+ on it 3-4 years ago.

      any store is assumed to have things on sale. if they were offering all packs 50%, or more, off and I payed full price then I'd agree with the frustration.

      In Wurm Online, grinding is highly repetitive, making it vulnerable to bots. I'm hoping Fractured's horizontal-progression gameplay is non-repetitive enough to make botting a waste of time. šŸ™‚

      the game will require resources. those resources need to be farmed. i'll assume you can figure what will be for sale.

      so long as beast and humans can be summoned by demons then i dont see any problems with it. again as long as the total duration is limited (by knowledge) then it shouldn't be an issue. the total duration shouldn't be more than 10 minutes if the summoned doesn't die. that death, nor summon, shouldnt reduce durability of any gear.

      I'll also add that the 'game' isn't really there yet. no beastkin, no demons. it's literally testing human and some spells. now the next test might have another race but i doubt it.

      it's find something to attack, build something, die.

      it's like wanting a cake for your birthday and you're at the grocery with your parent who's buying cake mix and eggs and stuff.

      they had funding before going to kickstarter. i'm wanting to say they were working on the game for at least 1 year before the KS campaign. someone out there put some cash into the idea of the game.

      UO with some survival elements in it. but i played UO before the split of the pve/pvp realms so i'm not sure which iteration of UO you're referring to.

      it's a clearance item. after this i doubt we'll see tiers as good as they are. the lifetime carpenter is gone so that's a good perk going.

      @Meiki said in Human er, taming:

      @Jetah Well you still need to have boundaries on the player that is summoned - which would such system put in place - otherwise you could get a lot of people that would accept the summon and fail you sooner or later - although even with such a system in place. Player-based summons are always kind of... troublesome.

      i assumed the current limitations in other games would apply here. i dont see how you'd let a player summoned have free reign over who they can attack. although that could be a con for the summoning. "sure you can summon a demon but you dont really have that much control over them.." "do you still wanna do it?" then it wouldn't really be a summoning spell but more like a teleport.

      I wouldn't mind seeing it in testing to see if it's fun to do. I would like it to have the option to unlock knowledge as a perk for demons.

      yeah i'm not going to continue the argument with pluto because they seem to be salty because of 1 small sale. i do wonder if they rage quit games that have cash shop sales after they purchased something.

      @Pluto
      if this gets you salty then dont play the game and request a refund. cause you know DS will just put a sale on the cash shop and you'll whine about that too.

      sounds like you'll never buy anything then if you've 'lost faith' in DS after a small sale while removing the packs.

      it's being too sensitive. DS has limited funds and they need more. a cash grab would be 50%+ off. they're only offering up to 20% off which isn't much (at least on the basic packs).

      @Pluto

      I did mention that even Steam has sales. Digital or physical isn't relevant here. And physical items dont go on sale because of a new version of said item. Maybe you're thinking of cell phones and not appliances or shirts, etc.

      sales happen, like or not. some people were debating and this might push them to buy. the sale isn't 50-90% off so there isn't much to fuss over.

      also cash shops have sales too.

      I’m pretty used to these cash grab tactics from developers by now

      wow. just wow.

      that's nearly no different than NPC summons from other games. I'm just applying that logic to a player summoned.

      would make no sense promising new features that, right now

      Which is why we've suggested adding them after the release of the game.

      stores have sales all the time. Target has a 90 day time line if a product isn't moving fast. Steam has a sale nearly every quarter.

      I think the idea is great to put them on sale before removing them (or changing the perks).
