    • RE: Real Crafting

      Crowfall has blueprints! they have points that you add to different areas which change the outcome of the print. If you used good quality items then the print would be higher quality and may require less materials to craft the next batch.

      it allows a player to influence the outcome of crafting while not needing to do it every time.

      I like blueprint manufacturing because it allows for a group to quickly get some quantity of items but still allows a crafter the chance to determine the quality of the output. It would make blueprints valuable and the crafter might be ransomed/hired to create better prints for others.

      1. yes. that's why the Carpenter NPC is needed.
      2. yes. i'm not sure about auto-attacks but skills need to be aimed and people walking between the projectile and the target will take damage instead of your intended target.
      3. there are fast travel but not in a hearthstone WoW type..
      4. we dont know.

      General

      1. the game is a sandbox. you create content. you figure out what you want to do.
      2. not that i'm aware of.
      3. yes.
      4. I dont think items can exist on the ground, I assume a trade UI. but you can kill someone and take their stuff!
      5. starts with 3, then you can purchase more.
      6. bank per character (i assume) but it's separate per location. So bank in starting zone wont be the same content in another city. (it's similar to Eve Online).
      7. game is isometric so there wont be many options.
      8. you spawn and hope your gear wasn't taken.

      PvP

      1. dont know. it's a moba style game so you'll have to aim at the low HP player to heal them.
      2. nope, again active target, nothing passive like WoW.
      3. all gear is pvp gear because the game is pvp based
      4. you'll lose karma if you take gear (assuming only possible on human and demon planets).
      5. i hope not. i dont want any safety in the game.
      6. full loot on 2 planets!
      7. yes, it's a sandbox and conflict has to happen. cities can be captured!
      8. it's based mostly on Karma.
      9. any player can create a website for that, not sure if it'll exist in game.

      PvE

      1. dont know
      2. yes and raids
      3. yes
      4. resources mostly. vary few item drop
      5. mounts yes, tameable may come later.
      6. dont know
      7. dont know

      I highly suggest read the https://fracturedmmo.com/news/ section. quite a bit of information there.

      @Meiki @Tuoni

      in 2013 the battlechest included vanillia, BC and Wrath. That means you had to buy Cataclysm and Mist. Sometime during Warlords Blizzard merged all expansions into the base subscription.

      in 2011 this post

      Of course, that cost can be deceptive. If you’re just getting into WoW your first year cost will be $239.88 ($30 for the battlechest, WotLK, and Cataclysm).

      I've also read that Blizzard never made a 5.0 BC but other companies were marketing it as such to imply it included 5 expansions (or 4 and vanilla).

      The first 5 expansions had to be purchased separably. It was during the 5th, the lowest population of WoW, that Blizzard combined them into the battlechest and/or decided to include them all into the subscription price. I remember wanting to play at Legion release and thought I needed to buy WoD but I didn't because it was included.

      @Logain

      i doubt DS/SpatialOS has access to 100% of a Google datacenter. I'd guess they have access to x blade servers under contract but because most centers aren't 100% full they can expand to 1-5 more.

      It was around Warlords they decided to include all expansions into the subscription price. Prior to Warlords, you had to buy all previous expansions.

      The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, and Mists of Pandaria, had to be purchased before you could play Warlords. Sometime during Warlords they combined BC through Mist into the subscription. It was ~50$ per expansion so 200$ before Warlords was factored in; sales aside.

      @Tuoni

      but then you have the late people which would have to try the demo/trial then decide if buying the game and expansions is worth the upfront cash. A problem WoW had was it'd cost 200$ to buy all the expansions to play the game. Now they've decided to exclude the newest expansion and give the rest away.

      if the game has a cash shop then it should carry the financials of the game. if the cash shop isn't doing well then the problem lies within that.

      Warframe and Path of Exile have expansions without charging for them. Fractured can do the same. Overwatch releases 3-4 heroes and maps a year and doesn't charge for them. That's 3 examples of the system working.

      @Jetah That is one way do it, but not the only right one. It depends of the game and what suits the best for that specific game. Also expansion does not automatically mean dividing community, especially in cases where expansions are waited and everybody will buy it anyway.. for example WoW, FF14, ESO..

      WoW expansions do split the community! i had to buy a few of them to catch up a while back, thankfully they've changed that system. I can't speak for FF14 or ESO but I imagine it splits the community too unless you buy the expansion (which is sort of a pay wall). reaching I know.

      Free expansions is best and have it supported by a great cash shop. it's the best way to do it.

      that usually becomes overcrowded from people trying to collect resources.

      it's a pvp sandbox. that's done by design. it's call point of interest!

      I'll point back to Path of Exile releasing free content, which doesn't separate the population and is maintained by a great cash shop and supporter packs.

      The mention of Classic WoW actually reminded me a memory.

      Not all sharding/instancing is bad. There are games like Guild Wars, Warframe*, Path of Exile (stretch but there is that lesser PvE planet), and Tera that allowed the player to move between them whenever they wanted via a menu near the compass. I can see some specific instances that would want to be separate from the others such as heavy roleplayers. I tend to like RP realms because I dont like to see names spongebob, naruto, onepunchman, wanpoochmaan, noobmaster69, xXtriplexXx, etc., in an infinite number of a simi-readable characters.

      For this instance, lol pun intended, I wouldn't mind some type of instances but I'd still like just ONE game server for the US. I hate needing to pick between different servers and then needing to tell my friends which to join. I want to play with guild mates on the west coast while I'm on the gulf coast.

      * Warframe only has this when you spawn into a 'common area'.

      I played a game with playable dragons and they has lairs, which were underground housing. was pretty neat concept and I haven't seen any game do it or similar since.

      i was thinking for living zones. mostly underground = underworld = necro which i suspect the demons would love.

      yeah the crystal and whatnot could work on the other 2 planets.

      most expansions just separate the community. and you'll eventually get expansion creep similar to what WoW has.

      @Althalus
      as previously mentioned, stretch goals doesn't have to happen at release, they can state 'after release'.

      @Greenfox

      this is a suggestion thread about using the 'concept' of the weapons that have multiple uses based on the material they consume. it's much easier to point to an anime than a comic.

      this isn't a thread about the anime or what was changed in the anime vs manga.

      the Fractured Knowledge system is very similar to the Heros weapons. I'm just suggesting having some weapons, that are unique to the region that puts the knowledge inside the weapon.

      There is also another alternative, like a free weekend.

      that's only available to get new people to 'demo' the game.

      i'm guessing Fractured will have an open beta so get your friends in it then.

      I believe DS said there'll be EU and NA servers so i dont think sharding/instancing will be needed. but i've seen plenty of games not handle the population during the first 1-3 months of a launch.

      Free gifting of CS items (without any limitations) can lead to P2W.

      $$ -> CS items -> sell to other players for gold

      I hope there will be no "gifting", or at least that gifting will be limited to like 1 item per week/month or something like that.

      free people, those with plenty of time, need a way to get cosmetics. it's the only way the game will survive. You can see Warframe pre-post free to play for an example. there's going to be p2w, you and DS can't stop it unless they stop all trading.

      warframe allows a player to trade items for plat, that plat can buy stuff from the cash shop. since Fractured's store will all cosmetic (and some convenience) then it can allow someone who has time to buy cosmetics. it could be possible for DS to track the items being traded.

      @muker

      I'm with @Gothix on this one. I've never seen the free passes for friends be used for good. OK maybe never never but i'm sure people will just sell the free pass on ebay for a few bucks.

      if it was a very limited pass, no public speaking, no trading, limited duration (ie 3 days) or something like that I could potentially agree with it.

      I'd much prefer a demo planet where prople who're interested in the game can spend a week or less and let that progression pass through to the real game. it wouldn't be much progression, maybe it's more of a tutorial area. again though no trade, no global chat and limited local chat (to stop bots).
